i recommend not to use any directx graphics mod, instead, PS2 timecyc + skygfx + mixsets for best shadows + project rosa { dont use the latest one cuz it crashes at going from one city to other} and yeah instead use proper player retexture cuz CJ will look less serious and more to its original design

I hope modders create more mods for the definitive version, because when you modify the original game too much, there are a lot of crashes, error messages and corrupted files. I believe that the definitive version would be better in this case. But I don't know anything about programming and I don't know how complicated it would be to create something for the definitive version, I'm just a casual player who is a fan of the game and would like to see it in its best condition. I'm not defending the definitive version because I'm not that big of a fan, but I'd like to see what the possible limit is.

Yes exactly i think. I heard the unreal engine 4 has good modding capabilities. I would have hoped they would have released the trilogy de on the unreal engine 5 even if not too much more advanced in graphics but giving a more advanced engine to the games. And a more polished version of the original with few extra good fun features added in and a extra bit of content / missions

I go with the definitive edition for two reasons: First, I´m almost 40 yo and I play it for nostagia reasons, not for hyper-modern 4090ti graphics, and second i dont want to spend 16 hours for searching and installing mods just to find out i did something wrong and my entire installation is screwed ...

The problem with the mod version is that it crashes when there are too many mods. I think it'll be good when you combine the definitive and mods together. I mean mod the definitive. Since it's based on a newer engine, it'll have way less chance of crashing.

Other thing what not mentioned is: the reflection, mainly on cars and water are amazing on Modded: cars reflect everything, with high quality, including other cars and peoples, what other modern games didn't, even with Ray Tracing.

Honestly, I'm more interested what modders can do with Definitive Edition, because modding the original San Andreas is an absolute pain, and graphics mods can make it run like ass even on high-end hardware. Feels like it should be possible to get similar effect out of a UE 4 game, with less of a performance hit then on the ancient RenderWare engine.

Original (not mod, not de) has a vibe, I can't describe. High resolution texture or reshadding nothing can give me that vibe, it might be mere nostalgia or may be old school graphics, I dont know what it is, but og sanandreas has something.

The mod is pretty great! I'd only complain about static vegetation and literally real vehicles in the mod. Perhaps it'd be more GTA-like when the vehicles in GTA San Andreas were improved instead of replacing them with real vehicles. Maybe even add those fictional brands in them like from the HD universe!

To me, the biggest problem in the definitive edition is the lighting. Everything is damn dark. In some cutscenes you can barely see the character's face.

the modded version looks good sometimes, but washed out a little in bright areas the definitive looks dull in some areas but it does appear to be more realistic if these two could be combined with each other it would be a perfect BUT.. if the mods were available on the definitive version, it would mop the original modded one in this video
