There's the obviously better option of playing the originals on PC with some very easy to install fixes that just elevate the game to heights even the PS2 (or in case of GTA III, the XBox) doesn't reach. However if you must be a purist & play vanilla the PS2 releases are the least flawed option. Trilogy DE is like at the bottom of all the versions that exist, closely followed by the mobile port that's incidentally done by the same company before Wardrum Studios got acquired by R* & was renamed to Grove Street Games...

It's amazing, the attention to detail, they put into the originals, compared to the remakes. It's actually sad to think how Rockstar Games allowed this to get released, in such a buggy state. In the old GTA 3 I would use the cinematic view during cop chases and if the cop stays close to you from behind the camera will actually switch to the cop's point of view chasing you. It was mainly good for 2 star wanted chases because they're not really aggressive but they don't go away.

I think what I despised about the Definitive edition the most were how they messed up characters and the protagonists. The Vanilla games didn't have that detailed version but still the Tommy and CJ looked sharp and had an appearance of their own. Tommy just looks completely different and they went full on black with CJ

There are a couple of reasons why this game isn't up to the players standards with the level of quality we need. 1, the definitive edition was not developed by rockstar games. It was made by Grove Street games, a mobile games company they just switched ports and did some little tweaks to the game but other things must have been removed or something I don't know? 2, the pandemic must have something to do with how we work in the same area limiting production on games now. Example is cyberpunk when it got released.

My only complaint in this remaster is for them to bring back the original mini games of dancing, lifting weights, and lowrider competition. They replaced it with those not satisfying mini games 😞 The good thing is they brought back the cinematic camera, and button mashing when pedaling a bike or BMX..

The team of them should split in three groups. 1 group for GTA III 2nd group for GTA Vice City And the 3rd group for GTA San Andreas. So atleast they won't tired fixing everything in one instead fix it one by one by exploring the original version (both console and PC) of the game to find out what to fix and what's wrong. Also hope they keep continue improving this game in all consoles. Especially the lower one (switch) which needs a better frame rates.

In GTA SA, hands have a fixed animation, so that all guns using both hands are correctly held, so camera also got same treatment, if it was a unique weapon type then different animation would have been used and then it could have been fixed, but lazies are lazies, nothing they did to fix now, bot I am not complaining, I still stand by the fact that they used the dam'ed mobile port fot it, so it remains defective edition, it shall never be definitive at all, hope the 30 year anniversary will be good even if I have no expectation to get one either, if I can than I myself am making it as I like, but not gonna publish it

I rather play normal for gta san Andreas but they did gta 3 alright kinda by making the atmosphere a little more foggier and the render distance looks fine cause most of the big buildins you see are just across a bridge but in gta sa u can see mount chilliad from grove st like come on they also did the vice city version pretty well too the skies colors with the orange lioks fantastic alsot eh lights are amazing they did mess tommys face a lil and hes does look a bit fatter but its fine

Best way you should play gta is this. Play original gta vice city and gta sa and for gta 3 put in couple mods so the characters are not blocky and you have a map and that is basically it. Those were the big problems with original gta 3. Blocky characters who split apart and no map. Also if you have psp emulator like me and have gta vc stories and gta liberty city stories(and manhunt) you can play games in chronological order without games looking too much different from each other from graphics standpoint. Definitive edition also is little too easy. Like shooting for example because of how characters light up when you aim at them makes the shooting very easy. Also the game mechanic where body falls apart after explosion(Speaking of pc version) in gta 3 original is gone in definitive edition. Its a cool feature.

Rockstar should've never let Grove Street Games touch these classics. Rackstar should've just made it themselves or let modders who can do a better job at making these games help out! Then we wouldn't have all the problems on release day!

I don't think they haven't noticed the boundry wall and other stuff like that. They were only like "they are there but i don't think players will give a shit". Since most of the modern games that came out at the time had less details than the original SA they probably thought people won't care anymore since everything else was just unfinished trash aswell. Also the NPCs from the original had that bike handlebars problem,and it wasn't actually the fog itself making the map look large in the OG either. It was the draw distance that didn't actually load up the whole map either unless you're getting closer to wherever you want to go

I’m so glad I bought the original versions of 3 and VC before 2021. There is nothing definitive about this trilogy unlike the Mafia 1 remake which is truly definitive!

It's sad that they fix not really big problems that literally break the game and ruin it, but they fix the ones that everyone is talking about (an invisible wall at the border of the map for example, who cares about this wall anyway?)
