Just in case anyone is watching this now, here's a piece of advice so you don't make the same mistake I did and then have to spend an additional hour with a soldering iron. When you're placing the cover back on, make sure you're extremely careful with where you route the wiring. Due to how logitech designed the wiring "harness" for the G25/G27 wires, it's extremely easy to damage the wiring when reinstalling the cover. I don't mean simply pinching a wire either. The way the wiring is routed, it is VERY easy to have a section of wire near the little anchor piece to end up directly underneath one of the screw holes. The hole in particular I'm referring to is the left hole underneath the carpet gripper. That hole is extremely close to where the wires are running, and if you don't have the wiring exactly where it was when you removed the cover, you can run that screw back in and pierce right through the wire without even knowing your doing it because the screws go in rather snug normally. I installed a spring mod and cleaned out my potentiometers, put everything back together and then fired up iRacing. When I went to calibrate my pedals, my throttle was completely dead. I was stumped as I made sure no wires were pinched when placing the cover back on and installing springs didn't require me to remove the connectors going to the potentiometers. When I went to take the thing apart again, I removed the two carpet gripper screws and that's when the issue caught my eye. I was working under a bright light and I could see a piece of red wire through that very screw hole and that's when I knew I must've damaged a wire. Took it completely open and sure enough, I mangled the black wire going to the throttle pedal. I had to remove the shrink tubing to get to the wire and since the wire is such a thin gauge, I had nothing on hand to splice it with. Thankfully there was just enough slack in the wire so that I could cut the wire, strip the two ends and solder them back together and finish it off with electrical tape. I got pretty lucky to say the least. So just make absolutely sure that no wires are blocking those screw holes. As far as I'm aware, the only hole close to the wiring is that left one under the carpet gripper.

@untitled. Place the top plastic cover of the pedals upside down over an open box, then place the pedals into their slots in the top plastic part, then route the wiring, then place the plastic base on top and screw down. You're welcome ;)

If you unscrew the top end of the "shock" then you can replace the spring without taking the whole thing apart, just the two screws behind the pedal. Just installed it, working great!
@pato17rio4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean, you can replace the spring without removing the back cover?

@@pato17rio Yes, just remove the upper screws for the "shock" and pry it out. It will split and you can replace the spring and push it back in.

Hey shaun, just a little clairfication. The progressive spring will have the same resistance regardless of which direction you apply it, both sides will feel soft and then hard. Because a progressive spring /any non spring with non linear spring constant will go from the weakest to the strongest regions (k value).
@Metal-Possum11 жыл бұрын
Tighter coils move first, the angle at which the steel "wire" is gives it less resistance to perpendicular loads.

Best bang for your buck feels grate transformed my driving experience within a couple of laps in the V8 SUPERCAR i went from 2min 12sec laps of Bathurst to low 2min 8 sec on IRACING with lots of room for improvement. i did install GTEYE BRAKE SPRING with the tight coil facing towards the bottom base of pedals unit with the soft coil part at the top of the brake pedal ass per instructions from GTEYE the new spring does come powdercoated as of 2016 . and calibrating at about 85 percent in IRACING CALIBRATION worked grate for still sockable racing which is what drew me to this mod and no clicks or squeaks perfect. I used the Nixim mod ver. 2 and loved it, although I returned the clutch spring to a stretched-out stock spring. I also stiffened up my gas pedal spring with spacers and stretching out stock spring. Then I got Fanatec CSR Elite pedals.. I tightened the throttle pedal all the way, and set brake load cell to about 4.8. I still use socks!

Just a hint: you're supposed to take the cover off the other way which allows you to route the wiring correctly. Before taking it apart, remove the extra 12 screws in the bottom and raise only the bottom panel. This requires putting the whole pedal set over e.g. a box so that pedals do not touch anything while you're taking the bottom plate away. You still need to remove the pedal faces from the pedals that you want to remove from the set. This way also gives you all the space you need while working with the pedal.

Jesus, I've been watching Inside Sim Racing videos all day, and I have to say, the video editing needs improvement. This video could easily be half the time. Show the G25/G27 pedal disassembly and reassembly ONCE in a video, and link to it in the description and annotations. That said, keep making videos guys, this is still a great resource!

Best advice to remember from this video is: the travel memory vs. muscle memory. The later prevails at all times. So, whatever mod yo use, it will definitely be better than stock. Two Quick q's on this: 1. Can I use the stock brake spring for the gas pedal for a little bit more feel ? Did anyone do that ? 2. Is this better than nixim ? Cheers

Installed mine last night.... WOW what a difference a little spring can make! Within 15-20 mins I started getting my braking sorted and the laptimes started falling, no more lockups and much more predicable braking especially in IRacing. I can highly recommend this mod to anyone looking for a cost effective hardware mod which still allows you to mod without having to mount the pedal set. Also, I bought it directly from www.gteye.com.au, not via Ebay.
@mozzmann10 жыл бұрын
The ONLY way to get progressive tension is to vary the diameter of the spring wire, what is done here is a stiffer wire that makes one end suffer coil bind thus stiffening the response. As for your cables yes spot glue and put a cable clamp on the base so the wiring is not attached to the top cover.

Just so you know, opening the pedals does not void the warranty. Neither does opening your computer. It is illegal to void a warranty based on a customer opening the product. Technically it is illegal for them to threaten it, but the legal costs associated with a class action suit just arent worth it

The Nixxim mod ins't better, its stiffer, with for me means its actualy worse, beacause its to stiff, you can't drive with out shoes. I run in socks just fin with the Nixim 2 brake mod. It's the best bang for you buck improvement to the G25/27 pedals. Shortens your braking zones like mad because of it's rubber insert adding a real tactile max brake point. I hit all the time and I instantly know I'm at max braking. With a spring, no matter how progressive, will run out of travel and only then will you know your at max braking. There isn't any proper feedback. it's a guessing game, just like the standard Logitech pedals.

Question for anyone with experience of both: I race a 1987 BMW e30 IRL, (non-power brakes, abs defeated) and I am trying to use sim racing as practice. On my rig my pedals are hard mounted but the chair is a crappy rolling office chair (the crappieness means it doesnt move much on carpet). If the Nixom is comparable to that "stand on it" braking in a real race car with manual brakes then I'm worried that my seat will move.

I'm using stock Logitech G27, would this upgrade improve the experience with Gran Turismo 6? Because it looks like it shouldn't, because the problem with Gran Turismo 6, is that whenever you upgrade your cars brakes to racing brakes, it starts to lock up after about just 10-15% of the pedals way, this mod visually seems to only add extra pressure after about 40-50% of the pedals way, which means it wouldn't do me any good. Does anybody know an upgrade to make it possible to add some deadzone to the pedal or something, so that the brakes would only lock up after using 35-50% of the brakes instead of 10-15%??? I mean today I really got annoyed by it, I can only race with non-racing brakes, because the racing brakes just feel buggy with GT6 + stock G27 set...

@ThePhoenixWylde12 жыл бұрын
Seems more of advertisement for GTEYE than anything else this vid. Nixim 2 mod is far better. It CAN be driven in socks, it CAN be driven without hard mounting it, it's much better when it comes to muscle memory knowing how hard to push it to get max braking, the Nixim mod is also higher quality. Everything this does well, the Nixim does much better. Save your money and get the Nixim2 mod over this. The Nixim2 brake mod on it's own, (you don't have to get the clutch spring) is also cheaper.

Makes no difference. The aim of the mod is to create extra stiffness when the pedal gets close to the end of its travel. If the spring is in the "wrong" direction, the first part of the pedal travel will still be soft since the spring will compress from the other direct first.
