I spent a few hours on the sea walls last year. I couldn’t hide my “foreign” and people were friendly and hospitable and the steel bands, boom boxes and vendors were full on entertaining and fun. So glad I didn’t watch this before I went, I’d have missed a great night.

So true. Last year I visited Guyana after 20 years for 2 months. I never went out alone. First few days the mosquitoes, I even had diarrhea for 3 days. The mini bus speed limit was too much for me. But I enjoyed. I missed these Guyana slangs. 😂 congrats dudé. Thanks for sharing

Such a negative outlook about Guyana. I went there last year and did not experience any of this. Including the insects. It was amazing! I stayed at Princess hotel and I will return this summer and stay at the Marriott. I can’t imagine using public transportation in any country. A cab or rental car is how I travel.

An example where tourist pricing is actually standard and legal is Belize. To visit the Museum of Belize my local friends were charged $7/person and as a tourist, I was charged $14. For our day trip to Caye Caulker, one of my local friends got the tickets for the ferry which would also have been a higher price for me........as a tourist you have to show your ID when paying!

Just discovered your channel and what a great insight to visiting Guyana. Well, I will be there in June alongside with my 23 year old grandson, which will be my first visit since 2000. Born in London with no accent then I'm in real shit. I'll be staying at a hotel, Ramada and not with family. You now have me worried and it's putting me off walking street and trying to look like a local until I open my mouth. As for ordering a cab then I would have to get a local to do it for me. Do they have Uber. Can I suggest we meet up and then perhaps you could guide me around. In truth I can't wait but somewhat a little apprehensive. Anyway I will go with an open mind and enjoy myself, but if you do want to go for a beer I'm up for it but don't be bringing any tag-a-longs with you. Respect.

The western border is formed by the low-water mark on the left bank of the Corantijn, from origin to mouth. The border therefore runs from a point yet to be determined on the southern border to the origin of the Boven-Corantijn, then from this origin along the low-water line on the left bank of the Boven-Corantijn and the Corantijn to the point where the shoreline in the coastline and from this point along a line with a direction 10 degrees east of True North through the territorial sea, without prejudice to the rights accruing to the Sovereign Republic of Suriname as a coastal state under international law in the part of the territory bounded by the continuation of this line the sea area. There is no New River. The name of New River is Boven Corantijn. A river has an origin and an endpoint. The origin of the Corantijn River is at the Boven Corantijn in the south of Suriname and Guyana and the terminus is at the mouth in the north at the Corantijn River. The entire length and width of the Boven Corantijn River in the South to its mouth in the North in the Atlantic Ocean is Surinamese territory.

Sounds like the mosquitoes there are friendlier than the people… That flight there is too long for me to have to look over my shoulder 24/7 and sleep with one eye open. I know that this information/warnings are realities. But these generational norma shouldn’t be condoned, and need to be broken.
@nazlenebaksh6092Ай бұрын
I think that you're wrong about some of your points. Like when you're staying with relatives, etc... I have NEVER had to lock my room doors. If I invited YOU, and YOU chose to bring YOUR guests, YOU'RE responsible for them. If I extend an open invitation, then you may get off from paying for YOUR guests. Unlike people traveling to the US, I DON'T pack anything from Guyana. Fish, fish, and more fish, NOT me. I'm interested in getting a few garden eggplants, you know, the whitish purple skin ones. Maybe a GOOD bit of coconut choka. THAT'S it for me to bring back to Canada. We get everything here. We don't use the excuse that, oh, we don't get this and that. I see people killing themselves making sugar cake, pera, fudge, etc..... the amount of sugar they used to make those things, is a heart attack and diabetes in the making. 😮😢
