Couldn't help but notice your treadmill screen there. My local gym has the exact same treadmill and I was never able to do past 10.0 in speed 😵 Yours says 14.0! Time for me to really push it. Thanks for the inspiration and tips!

3:52 seeing walking(marching) backwards makes me cracking up, but not as much as the Monty Python walk at 5:52 Walking backwards is brilliant, used for rehab to increase neurological pathways, even shown to benefit non rehab programs!

Peloton treads are crazy money...I use the app for the classes and they definitely push me more than I'd do on my own.

I used to watch TV, now i'm usually far behind on youtube videos I watch that. Wednesday night seems to be a common treadmill night, perfect for the GTN Show! It is still drudgery though. I could never do more than 6 miles. Usually I only do 3-4.

Heather Fell sometimes I’ll do intervals. I’d do more hills, but my basement ceiling is so low I can’t do more than 2% without tipping my head down. Don’t get me wrong, it still beats running outside in the winter weather.

Do your training on Rollers, if you get ones with resistance and stick on a Power Meter it even works with Zwift. Much more engaging, builds smoother pedal stroke and bike skills.

talking about fast cadence, i was reviewing your stats on strava for the bath half last week heather and somehow ended up looking at emma pooley's - mistakenly thinking i was viewing a 2020 run for her (was actually last year's). He average cadence was in the high 190s spm with a lot above 200 steps per minute

Does anyone else find that treadmills hurt their knees? I run 75-80km a week on the roads without any great problems, but ten minutes on a treadmill and my knees start hurting. I warm up as usual, and my cadence is the same.

I had this a little while back too, for me I found I wasn't engaging my core giving me an anterior pelvic tilt on the treadmill which wasn't an issue when running outside. I kept my core engaged and shortened my stride length a little and the knee pain hasn't come back.

An elliptical trainer is a great alternative and equally or more effective method than a treadmill which is easy on the joints.

@@stevemc522 Yes, indeed it is. wealth and its luxuries are quite relative. for many years I was a teacher, and living in poverty. Some of my students had more "luxuries" than myself, some had significantly less. I'm very happy I left that position. I still haven't dug myself out of the hole of all those years working below the poverty line, but I'm working on it; education of our youth be damned!
