What is your list of triathlons or competitions for this year? 🪣✅
@DaveBull963 күн бұрын
Noosa '25. Two years ago European friends said they wanted to do Noosa, so I decided to join them, and set myself the goal of doing some sprint triathlons in 2023 at the age of 59, then joining them in Noosa on the Olympic Course when I turned 60 - ie 2024. I achieved my goal, but unfortunately I couldn't go hard, as I had a stent put in 15 days before the event, and was told "If I do have to do it, then just don't go for a personal best". It was my second Olympic distance and only 3 weeks after my first. So I took it easy, but now I feel I have some unfinished business and have entered again in '25, and hope to knock some time off. It's a cracking event, and they really love overseas entries, so while it is already sold out, if your an international competitor, maybe write to them and see if they can find you an extra slot. See you there - I'll be the old guy with the big smile

None. I am coming back from a long time with illness and no real training apart from walking and a bit of strength training. So my aim is to get back into training.

Special note about Wildflower is that they have many race options in addition to the long course option. I’ve done the Olympic distance several times as a college student (they have a dedicated start for college teams, which is really cool) and can say it provides the same challenge and beauty as the long course event in a smaller package. This is great for people who are not quite confident in the 70.3 distance but still want the Wildflower experience. It was one of my favorite races and I have many fond memories closing out the college season with my teammates there.

I'd include challeneg wanaka. Possible one of the most picturesque races in the world. Although I prefered the old course (Swim in lake wanaka, ride out to glendu then turn around head back through town, up to hawea and over the red bridge. Then the run course is the outlet track and gunn rd). Its still a true bucket list race.

I'm doing Sgrail 100 this year for the third time in a row, it's such an awesome event 🤩 . This year there is an Sgrail 80 in Switzerland if memory serves. Love this videos where you showcase iconic races but that we, age groupers, could potentially do. I'm debating whether going half distance or do mostly Olympic distance 😅 so my calendar has a few spots to decide.

Clash Daytona race should have been on this list. You swim in a canal INSIDE the famous Daytona NASCAR racing track, then you bike AROUND the same NASCAR track before heading to Daytona main high for 90km. The whole run leg takes place INSIDE Daytona NASCAR track.

1066 middle distance triathlon down on the south coast of England in Bexhill is a brilliant triathlon. 70.3 for £80 now that is a bargain. Also Castle to Coast by Fullsteam Events is a brilliant and a very hard triathlon as it takes on the Surrey hills and part of the South Downs.

There is a new Ironman triathlon hitting the scene this year. Ironman Ottawa 2025. 3 Aug in Canada's capital. Of course it's sold out. I will be doing a 113 this Aug 2025 in Ottawa (a113 is metric for a 70.3). See how things go maybe get a spot for full in 2026, fingers crossed!

My first ever triathlon overall was Ironman Austria and I chose it because of its beauty. Flew all the way from Los Angeles and instead of picking one in the US I decided to fly across the ocean. It was worth it. Such a beautiful course. I liked that the bike was just one lap. But Mark, I have to say, that was not a rolling course. It was hilly AF. People were getting off their bikes and walking up. How hilly it was caught me by surprise and by the time the marathon started I had no legs left from those hills. Still super worth it.
