I know it’s been awhile since you posted this video. I just recently discovered your you tube Chanel If you haven’t already fixed the flexing I was wondering about boxing and gusset the frame I know some guys were swapping to convertible frames because the were stronger due to the lack of body rigidity. Those frames were boxed and I believe had gussets in them. Anyway just a thought Thanks for the great videos 25:04

Convertible frames are definitely stiffer, being fully boxed along the rocker sections, but they're hard to find, expensive (to buy and ship), and I didn't really want the extra 100+ lb. There are also aftermarket kits available to stiffen GM A-body frames, that I don't think are as heavy, but they involve welding, and that's something I'm trying to avoid, given the value of my car. I'm still trying to think of a "temporary" method to solve the flexing problem, but haven't figured one out yet (in my defence, the GTO hasn't been given much priority the last couple years though). Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hello. Cant seem to find a poly body mount lit for my 67 GTO Hardtop. Which kit did you use? Thank you
@The_Performance_Laboratory Жыл бұрын
POLY34111 from Performance Suspension Technology. Note this kit is missing a pair of bushings as it appears targeted at Chevelles. I'm told if you order the kit for a convertible, you will get the complete set of bushings.

My resto guide book says thres 7 mounts per side. Ames would know. How much seperation is needed frame to body? 2", 3" ? I have a 65. How long do you think it took 8 hoours ? 20 hours? Car sounds like an automatic
@The_Performance_Laboratory3 жыл бұрын
7 mounts per side on the body, plus the rad cradle = 8. Chevelles have only 6 on the body, except for the convertibles that have the additional bushings on the firewall. Both my GTO sedan and hardtop bodies have the full 7 body bushings per side. I only needed about an inch of body lift to swap the bushings. The whole operation only took a couple hours, but the lift certainly made it easier. Car is definitely not an automatic, but the slow motion video stretches the sound that way. Thanks for watching.

Is there any bolt on solutions that would reinforce the frame from the underside. That car is too clean to be welding anything on.
@The_Performance_Laboratory4 жыл бұрын
The manual trans GTOs had rear frame reinforcements, and I've already replaced them with much beefier aftermarket versions, but otherwise there's not really any bolt on parts available to stiffen the frame. I'm going to keep thinking about possible solutions over the winter though.

Hey bro how do u differentiate the middle carb. Im thinking my 428 tri power would like one.

Not sure what you're asking. Please clarify your question.

On tri power center carb. U mentioned u got the bigger carb. How do I id the bigger carb needed for high performance set up
@The_Performance_Laboratory4 жыл бұрын
@@apethings7671 you want the Rochester 2GC carbs with 1 3/8" venturis, 7029114 or 7029118. They are extremely rare to find originals, so you might be better off just getting a Jet 37001 and adding the choke.

Could it be the frame flexing being that is a c channel? What about boxing it maybe not the whole thing but pleading it in different areas so many inches apart
@The_Performance_Laboratory4 жыл бұрын
Frame is definitely flexing. Looked into convertible frames (which are boxed - and much heavier), but not sure I want to spend that much money, and put that much effort into it anymore. More likely going to swap the whole frame/running gear into my other GTO, where a roll cage won't be a big issue. But other projects have priority now.
