The song is about psychotherapy & facing & dealing with your past traumas so that you can heal & live a happier & more functional life. When you’re in therapy you are basically digging on the dirt to open up the places you got hurt. Incredible song & video. Excellent

I don’t think anyone is ever “ready enough” for a Peter Gabriel video.. especially this one... it’s extremely powerful.

Actually there was way more creativity and individualism back then than there is now. Better times.

This song is one of the best breakup songs of all time, perfectly reflecting the anger and the sadness that somebody goes through when they experience one. Plus, this music video won a Grammy.

It is my opinion that this album is one of the best-produced albums of the 20th century. Everything is thought-out and crystal clear, all of the instruments and effects are perfect.

You have found a rabbit hole... Peter Gabriel was one of the founding member of Genesis back in late 1960. Much to discover if you are up to it.

Every reaction video to any Peter Gabriel song I've seen, you can see it in their eyes. "We have nothing like this. We can't do anything like this anymore. What we've got is so shallow, surface, unimspiring, and sad." Like a Toyota engineer trying to understand a Tesla. Yep. That's right.

You gotta dig in the dirt of your life man, if you want to get to the crux of the biscuit. You gotta face that shit.

This song is all about therapy he went through after the break up of his marriage, it talks about all the horrible things he things as he digs into his life and the support he needs to get through it, the video seems to deal with a domestic between his parents and unhappy childhood memories

Peter Gabriel went through a nasty divorce, and relationships with Sinead Oconner and Rosanna Arquette. This is why there is so much agression against the woman and other characters. He was going through some serious PTDS and depression.
