Bill you always find the best. What a great product! I might have to buy a Kronos just to accompany one of these . :)

Thanks for taking time to highlight this product. I'm seriously considering purchasing one. ❓ Does the record tank that fills automatically require periodic cleaning. Is there remaining sediment that's accumulated on the bottom. Is the tank accessible. Thanks. Greg

We have never had to clean the tank,

Bought one last year, very easy to use and removes a lot of the cracks and pops on records.

Degritter looks even better than the more pricey one that was made in Korea that looked like it came from a star destroyer to clean your records. I love the filter and the fact it drains the water in a tank

Yes filtering the water makes total sense. How did someone not come up with this before?

The Degritter manual FAQ states this about shellac and lacquer-acetate records: “We have not conclusively tested cleaning shellac or lacquer-acetate records with Degritter. If you do clean one, then do so on your own responsibility”. Which seems odd… it’s really built for 12” LPs, but they have inserts that allow cleaning of 7” and 10” records. Does anyone know if its safe with such records?

Great share! Beautiful looking product. On topic but slightly different discussion, I want to tap your expertise on vinyl reissues that are taking place in today's market. We are seeing companies like MOFI reissuing albums that are sourced from the original master tape. We are also seeing albums being reissued that are sourced from digital. Can you please explain which reissue approach is the better option for a high end turntable like the Kronos. If a reissue of each type were played on the Kronos using a blind A/B listening comparison, and both types of reissue (*from the master tape versus from a digital source*) were done to perfection, would one sound better than the other or would they sound close to identical? MANY THANKS!!!

I don't think analog can get better than when it starts with an analog master. Otherwise you are still listening to digital, just with a D to A somewhere else in the chain and by the way a D to A you didn't choose. Reissues from ORG and QRP today are just simply stunning.

Thank you for your thoughts on this matter. That has been my feeling all along. As I see it, you can rank the listening experience from best [1] to worst [5] in this order. [1] you are seated in the actual studio control booth when the band records a song from start to finish. [2] you listen to a reel to reel tape of the song that was sourced from the original master tape. [3] you listen to an album of the song that was sourced from the original master tape: (ORG, QRP, MOFI, ...) [4] you listen to the song on a CD that was sourced from the original master tape. *and a distant* [5] you listen to an album that was sourced from a digital source that was sourced from the original master tape. Just read the description for [5] and you cannot help but come to the simple realization how inferior this version truly is. Yet, they charge around $25 for these new digitally sourced reissues of albums from yesteryear while ORG, QRP, MOFI, and others make it a point to write on their album covers "sourced from the original master tape" as a means to justify their considerably higher pricing - and as you and many others have asserted, the wonderful quality of playback justifies their asking price.

Cool video Bill, will the Degritter do both sides at the same time??
@gttaudio3 жыл бұрын
Yes you place it in the slot and can walk away. Come back when it is over and the complete record is cleaned and dried.
