If you cant see those either, are you sure its not your adblocker that is stopping you from seeing ads? i just built a pc for a friend cuz she had a bad few months and gave her a 1060 3gig with a 6600k (everything was bought used and made the whole thing for $300) i was concerned about the lack of vram as every benchmark showed every game maxing out the 3 gigabytes, but performance seemed to hold in most games compared to similar cards like the rx 480. a big thing to compare is actually ram usage as games running on a 1060 3gig tend to use 2 or 3 more gigs of system ram to make up for the lack of vram. i think that'd be a fun experiment to make a video on. could show 16 gigs with the 1060 3gig vs 8 gigs with the 1060. or god help you 4 gigs with the 1060 lol

With these cards nobody need to worry about vram size. It's not like you will play on resolution higher than 1080p and it's hard to find (for now) game that need more than 3 gig in single scene. And as scenery change there is enough time to take new textures from system ram buffer and replace old ones in vram. Maybe only situation with extremely low system ram amount will be noticeable (4GB). Looking at "used" vram in software like Afterburner can be deceiving as many games will reserve space even if it's not really necessary. It's same with system memory buffer, I still remember when I upgrade from 4 to 8 gig using I think only 1GB vram card at the time same games with same OS "use" around 1,5 GB of ram on same settings running absolutely same framerates. Just because they can reserve more now when more was available. and just for clarification - these are not card for high/ultra quality presets on current games. I agree that many games can use more than 3GB on 1080p but not on settings these cards can be used anyway.

I built a PC last year that has a 1060 3GB and it was near identical in performance to the GTX 970 in my main PC (I did swap them between both systems to check things). What I am rambling about is that it is really worth considering looking at a GTX 970 if you are considering a GTX 1060 3GB as they can often be found at a cheaper price for the same performance.

Was true back then too. The 570 was the same price or slightly more expensive and much faster, but ignorant people and fanboys bought the 1050ti and are now suffering for that decision or are continuing the cycle of short term gpus with 1650 super. Even on the used size when you could find rx580s(!) For as low as 80$ people were paying a lot more for a far inferior 1050ti...

don't forget that the 2017 - 2018 mining craze effectively ruined the prices of most gaming radeon cards such as rx 570/rx 580s at that time, forcing most gamers at that time to get the gtx 1050tis instead

@@bxdroid good points Ryan and @randomjohn . The rx570 does consume more power but the average pc builder likely buys one strong enough. So likely it effects OEM built pcs more. The crypto mining did make the rx cards unavailable for awhile as well. But there were windows where there should have been no logical reason to have 1050ti over rx570. Oh well, all I know is history will repeat itself.

Built a R3 1200 + GTX 1060 3gb PC around the time you were running your R3 1200 + GTX 1060 3gb build. The R3 has since been upgraded to an R7 1700x, but the GTX 1060 3gb is still on rocking it in my system. That VRAM limit is becoming more and more noticable with newer games but there is yet to be a game it can't handle at 1080p. Playing MSFS 2020 at 1080p medium 30 FPS for reference.

I was saving up money for a gaming pc back in 2017. I was on a very tight budget so I'm very glad that 1060 3gb existed. I paid a little bit more than i would pay for 1050ti and got much better performance. Saving more money for 1060 6gb didn't make any sense since its prices skyrocketed in 2017 because of cryptomining. In conclusion gtx 1060 3gb was an awesome deal and it still serves me good today 😁

Had brought the 1060 3gb when it launched and at that time the 6 gb variant of the card was also available but at a much premium price difference with the only diff being the VRAM. I am glad i made that choice since I can play most of the games even today at high if not ultra settings. The only problem it faces in ultra settings textures in some games and i was surprised to see this card perform well this long even with just 3gb VRAM in most AAA games at high settings at 1080p. Now thinking of upgrading to the RTX 3060 ti or 3060 Super whenever it arrives to enjoy the next gen AAA titles. I consider this to be a timely & value for money purchase made by me .

Yay, it's basically my setup: a Ryzen 5 3600, paired with 2x8 gigs of 3200 mhz DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1060 3GB. I'm quite satisfied with this configuration as I'm using it for 1080p gaming, and although I know the GPU holds the system back, the performance for the games I play is good enough, like Rocket League, Forza Horizon 4 and stuff.

My main rig and emulation rig are both still rocking 1050tis. Paired with an e5-1650-v2 on my main, I run Eve Online on max settings, no problems. Paired with an i5-3570, PCSX2 looks great at 1080p. That's all I need.

Living in NZ can be a pain for PC parts as a GTX 1050TI usually goes for NZD$150-200 and a GTX 1060 3GB would usually go for NZD$170-240. The only card that I can get new for that sort of price would be a GT1030 or an RX 550.

I got a R9 Fury off Ebay for ~$100 in like 2018 and it's been stellar. It is between a 1070 and a 1060 6gb, leaning more towards the 1070(last time I checked benchmarks). It's only got 4gb of vram but it's hbm so that helps a little. That said I think an 8gb 590 is similar performance and has double the memory, if you van find it for a similar price to the R9 Fury it might be better later on.

Since the 1060 3GB is among the most frequent cards on hardware surveys, game developers simply couldn't afford to ignore the 3GB version so most games have a combination of settings where it will run on the 3GB version acceptably. Especially true for older games, where 3GB wasn't a bottleneck, but NV cards ran better on DX11. Competing NV and AMD cards having more memory, were playing 1080p where it did not matter how much more VRAM one has. Optimizing for 8GB was not an objective as most users have never been using 8GB AMD cards anyway.

Still using this card till today with a 240hz monitor. Probably not the best idea but it can achieve it in games like fortnite at low setting while the cpu and gpu are overclocked to the max. Maybe its time for an upgrade.

Make sure to not forget that most 1050ti's run on bus power instead of requiring another 6 or 8 pin. In my case I currently have a cheap power supply that doesn't even have a 6 or 8 pin power connector and at the time the 1650 didn't exist yet so I decided to just buy the 1050ti, plus I tend to play Esports games so 1080p, very high, and 60 fps isn't that hard to achieve.

If you want to monitor GPU memory VRAM starving don't look at the "Memory Used" value but check for spikes in the "Memory Controller Load" value.

i have a laptop with the 1050ti 4gb, and a desktop with the 1060 3gb oddly enough, honestly they both perform pretty great even in 2020. Borderlands 3 gets me 54 fps at 1080p on high with the 1060, and 45fps on high with the 1050 at 1080p Forza Horizon 4 gets me 60 fps on both at a mixture of medium/high settings. I can list more but its usually just 60fps for the majority of them.

When I built muy PC I was going to get the 1050 ti but the 1060 3gb was only like 60€ more and to this day I don’t regret it, but the 3gb are too low in some cases. Most the time I can play on it at 1080/60fps with zero problems, but the vram gets too short sometimes. From my experience, I had some texture popping on areas with a lot of vegetation on both Forza Horizon 3 and Battlefront 2, and Gears 5 was the worst, with some close objects having nintendo 64 textures lol (despite that, it’s one of the best looking games I played on my PC). Had this kind of issue in some more games but didn’t bother me too much. Probably gonna get a 3060 or 3070, because I want to play Cyberpunk and my current card would probably suffer too much haha.

The mining variant of 1060 is much cheaper just under 40 bucks. But it requires integrated graphics to be used and some tweakings on the drivers to make it work.

Believe it or not some of these cards are still worth it, maybe not for playing triple aaa titles but for rendering stuff like 3d models and things it's great. I gifted my dad my 1050ti 4gb asus strix when I got an rx 580

I don't know if there was some bottleneck issues or what but my friend traded me his 1060 for my 1050ti. I had a big performance increase but his wasn't really negatively effected

i got a evga 1060 ssc 6gb for $115 last year it was 127 but ebay gave me a $12 voucher discount. looks like prices went up a fair bit this year. even sold a 1050 ti locally for $80 so a $35 upgrade :)

I bought my 10603gb back in November of 2017 for £200 because I was on a budget. It has served me well and I'm even still using it to this day with my new Ryzen 3 3300x and 16gb of DDR4 compared to what I used to have which was one 8gb stick of DDR3 and an AMD FX8350 which wasn't the best I'll tell you that. For Christmas I'm going to be saving up for a 2060 probably or something along those lines, even though the games that I play right now run at 1080p 60fps id like to upgrade that to get better performance and graphics overall.

i got the 1060 3gb nearly 3 years ago... and it was the worst card ever for me. it's crippled by the 3gb vram... . It's like putting 4gb of vram on an rtx 3080, it can handle higher settings but there is simply not enough vram xD

@@SweatyFeetGirl I don't mind playing games on Medium/high settings with ones like Fortnite running at over 90fps on high. And I can run Monster Hunter World at 1080p 60fps on medium also so it does what I need it to do for my needs.

glad I choose the 1050ti for 160€ back in, 2017, the 1060 3gb was 239€, it was during the whole mining crisis if I recall correctly. anyway, sold the 1050ti for 100€ :) and bought a 1650 super for 160€

I wonder how does the the R9 380 compare to the 1050Ti ? I just got my R9 380 used a few days ago for 30 pounds. I have heard that the performance of the two are very similar but all I could find were benchmarks from years ago.

I had a 1060 3gb for 2 years. It was perfectly fine until red dead 2 came out. Any of the textures below Ultra looked terrible and changing them to Ultra in the config file caused a ton of pop-in. I then bought the cheapest 2060 i could find. 1060 3gb is still a good card for most games though.

I've been playing the witcher 3 and other significantly higher performance-costing games with my previous GPU - 1050. It wasn't necessarily the most pleasant experience however, for the price that I've bought it it was doubtlessly worth it. I've managed to run far cry primal on medium-high graphics configuration, I was baffled back then.

Every time I see CEX in your videos I'm reminded of how they sent me the wrong graphics card and then closed all of their US locations the day I got it, and they offered me store credit (which is useless, they closed.)

Color me surprised. I would have though that the 3GB memory limit would have kneecapped the GTX 1060 more by now putting it performance wise closer to the GTX 1050 Ti. Though I do think it should have been called the GTX 1060 SE. I would love to see the difference between the 3 GB and 6 GB versions.

I'm still rocking the 1060 3gb Zotac in my opinion, it depends what type of gaming you're Into, I get stable frames in most games and I'm pretty happy with it, I don't feel the urge to upgrade, so I'm good, I don't get why people need to always have what's new on the market, my thing is just be satisfied with what you have and make the best if it, dong chase the market, you won't be able to keep up, just when you have enough for a 30xx series the 40xx series will launch then it's a rat race all over again.

Yeah, before I knew about PC Hardware I got a prebuilt with the 1060 3GB and I just... Regret it ever since. Like, the 3GB VRAM is such an insane bottleneck. I can run most current gen games on High settings, but texture quality, in particular, can barely exceed medium settings.

The one reason why a 1050ti might get an inflated price is because it's likely the fastest used card you can get that doesn't require a 6 pin pci-ex connector from your power supply. If I was selling one of those cards I'd hold out for the best price because I'd know only people who have no other real option are stuck buying from me.
