GU Patrol 2.8TD 3" Exhaust

A short video & drive of my 1998 Nissan Patrol with a 3" straight through exhaust.
I have the RD28 turbo diesel engine.
Exhaust is from the turbo back, 3" all the way with no mufflers or hotdogs. No other mods other than EGR Block, Butterfly removal and boost controller.
All footage filmed on GoPro Hero 3+ Black with an external microphone.

But I love patrols. Had a 2.8TD once. And once you've owned a patrol, you can't stop loving it. At least I can't. 🤷🏼‍♂️

+Tommy.P - in720p It was recorded with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black only mounted to the car VIA 1 small (insufficient) suction mount facing the full wind. Unfortunately once the GoPro software automatically turned on AutoTune it lost all stability. I hopefully will have a new mount soon, and am waiting for some good weather to get another video of the exhaust now that the exhaust has been through about 1500km and the insides will be coated.

All RD28s, hadn't made a single change to the engine for this video. Only the 3" exhaust.

I got a 2.8 and the exhaust just made the turbo spool faster

2.8 in the GQ, 11 psi stock, 12 psi EGR block and then 13 psi with the 3" exhaust. I've got a straight through 12 inch hot dog just to reduce the hollow pipe sound!

can you tell me if I can get the same sound engine with a y60 2.8td because I hesitate to buy a y60 2.8td or so a y61 2.8 I want the same engine sound is beautiful

It still runs the same RD28 engine, I couldn't guarantee though.

I've got a GQ (Y60) with the 2.8 not as much turbos whistle as this one. I think it might be that the GQ's don't have the intercooler which might change the exhaust note.

@@AdventuringWebers I know it’s been 5 years but I was about to buy either a turbo back 3 inch stainless from ppd or that dea exhaust. What did you mean by you modified the dump? Guessing if it’s a straight threw system it’s gonna sound trick. No muffler or cat in yours? Just bought a patrol rd28, so excited
