Very interesting discussion about 那英. I guess Jay is correct that she is somehow over-rated ( definitely not qualified as Celion Dion in China as her company promoted ) and this show really exposes her weakness while her skill is just above average ( not a Diva level ) Also appreciate the discussion about Chante Moore.

BTW, I am curious how Rosette would react if she knows 那英 is the judge eliminated 周深 years ago 😂

@@DanielWang0525 What I can’t forgive Na Ying is that she eliminated Zhou Shen. Fortunately, audiences didn‘t miss Zhou Shen, an excellent singer.

Singer 2025 should invite Rozette to attend as a live commentary provider.
LOL Everyone's reaction just made this episode 10 times more interesting.. Appreciating Rozette's honesty and kindness thru out her accurate expression! 💗
I get the same feeling. I think NaYing's performance here is similar to her performance from the previous episode. That performance was unexpected for her, because she got emotional, it makes her vulnerable and sincere, and I actually really liked it, even before she started choking up or something, or I even started making sense of the song's lyrics. I don't know that her live is actually that unstable, because yeah she's known to actually be a really good singer, I mean at least in the sense that she's very stable and consistently good with her execution. But her pronunciation and enunciation is also often clear, which I feel is her signature, theres also this very clean chops between the lyrics thats kind of her thing, so I like how her previous performance was different from that. But I have a sneaky feeling that she noticed how well it was received ( the previous performance) with people being so touched by her singing, and I think, and it' just my guess here, that she's trying to replicate that. I'm not a professional but to my ear, even though this is a different song, it's uncanny how similar it is to the previous performance, like it's almost the same song. And it's not really the way how oh, it's thessame singer so of course they sound similar singing different songs. I'm honestly quite impressed if thats the case, that she's able to playback her own performance and try to replicate with practice what came out of her naturally. I think the part where she's unstable was suppose to be the vulnerable side, and the whole thing just kinda threw me off and didn't like the performance. But when one of you said it's like your mom trying hard to sing the song of your generation, I can see that too, but its not the first thing that came to mind that made me not like the song. Also, I actually really like Chante Moore's performance. I think maybe what you guys are experiencing is like being bias to an original. It always takes maybe twice as good to make someone who loves an original song, to start liking a cover of it. I get the part about making it old. But I mean old is just a different style. I think that's just some mental association within you that creates that kind of aversion to it. I've watched this show since season 1 and a few other singing shows. They all do covers, and honestly it's always good when a singer don't change much, there's some rearrangement and changes here, but it's still pretty much the same and recognisable. Most of the time when people do covers especially in a competitive stage like this, they change it so much, like jazzing up a folk song or something. They try hard to distance themselves for the original, to avoid reaction like you guys. Thats why I think Chante Moore did great because she did it the way you expect her to, based on how she sings the song she usually sings, she didn't even change it into an rnb, which singers would do, again there are changes, but I would argue very slight because its still very recognisably similar to the original, I mean arrangement wise. All the other busy stuff is just her thing, so I think it fits. Also I actually really like that " I... I... I.. I put you up..." part, I thought that was really neat.
Love the review and it's just as fun as the show. While I was watching something just popped in my mind that is there any change one day Rozette gets invited to the show? Would love that day to come 😀
