0:47 Telecom - There are three main telecom providers--IT&E, GTA, and Docomo. Only GTA and Docomo provide internet service along with bundle plans.
1:38 Gas stations - The main gas stations on Guam are Mobil, 76 Circle K, and Shell. However, if you have military base access, that would be where you get the cheapest gas prices!
2:14 Groceries - The most frequent franchise you'll find around the island is with the Payless Supermarkets and Cost-U-Less stores. Both carry fresh produce, meats, dairy, frozen foods, and more, but Cost-U-Less also provides a lot of items in bulk. For military families, there are two Commissaries available, one in Yigo at the Andersen Air Force Base and the other in Santa Rita at the Naval Base. Other stores to explore are American Grocery, California Mart, Korean Grocery Store, Happy Mart, Simply Food, San Jose Supermarket, Day Buy Day, Agat Kimchee Store, Toves Piti Mart, and 7 Day Supermarket.
5:05 Home needs - You can find a lot of stores for home equipment, appliances, and hardware such as Home Depot (Tamuning near the airport), The Home Mart (Yigo), Kmart (upper Tumon), and Benson (Maite).
5:33 Transportation - Guam doesn't have a train or subway system, but it does have a public transport bus line called the Guam Regional Transport Authority (GRTA). You can visit grate.guam.gov for daily routes and stops to plan your trips. There are taxi services, but they can be a bit pricier since they are usually catered to tourists. There is also Stroll Guam, which is the Uber-equivalent, so you can download the app to see ride availability.
6:29 Pets - The two main animal clinics are Isla Vet Clinic (Asan) and Wise Owl Animal Hospital (Tamuning). For pet equipment, some stores you can find toys, food, leashes, etc. include Fetch, Little Wangz, Feathers and Fins, and others. *I haven't personally explored many of the equipment stores, but these are some recommendations I've heard from other pet owners.
7:33 Shopping - Depending on your personality, you can find many different shopping areas on Guam. Some of my favorite places for clothes shopping are smaller stores and boutiques like Threads, Blush, and Jeans Warehouse. If you like malls and outlets, then you can explore the Micronesia Mall, Guam Premier Outlets, Agana Shopping Center, Dededo Mall, and Compadres Mall. For high-end shopping or more expensive brands, most of the shops in Tumon would be best to check out.

Awe Danielle, sweety I can imagine how much you miss Guam . I was blessed to fly out there to visit Guam and it grew on me fast . 😭 , I do understand how much you miss snorkeling, I did it too and I saw so much beauty there . You make friends so easy and I'm proud to have a daughter in law like you . If for some reason y'all are stationed there again , count me in . I do understand how hard it is to move away from home . We did it in 1998 to 1999 . About 15 months in California, the boys were happy so we were happy as well . I'm sure Nor Folk will start rubbing off of you and the back is just a couple of hours away right ? Look at it like your touring the world . Love ya

Dani, Hafa Adai , ( I don't know if I used that phrase correctly in this format - from what I've researched that's the equivalent of saying "Aloha" on Hawaii and "Hello" in the 48 continental U.S. states and Alaska. :-) ) You put out a lot of useful information for the newcomer to Guam. As you can attest to, commissary and base gasoline purchase privileges makes a BIG difference in the monthly living expenses budget. Do you know anything about the Village of Piti? ( Other than it's adjacent to the Navy base and inhabited by approx. 90% Sailors and in the not too distant future - Marines!

I never lived in Piti but it's a really nice and balanced location for having peace and privacy but still being close enough to the central areas for most basic needs 🙂

Dani, I want to thank you for putting out these videos on Guam. I have been looking for a place to move to get away from the craziness in the US. I have my sights on Guam, but it is hard to find information. Your videos are helpful. I have additional more detailed interests/inquiries but did not want to use your email as you listed it for business inquiries only. In short, I am trying to find out what volunteer efforts/organizations are there on Guam. I used to be heavily involved with Habitat for Humanity when I lived in Arizona and Oregon. I was a team leader within the organization and have significant building/remodeling skills. I would like to find similar organizations where I can use my career long skills to help others. BTW, so glad to hear that you have a Home Depot there. That is like my version of a Mall. I also would like to get in touch with a good realtor who knows the island and would be able to tell me if what I am looking for is even available there. Thank you again for putting out these helpful videos.

great video, I liked how you put the video together on how to live in Guam 🇬🇺, I am a young man looking to move to Guam, but your video doesn't mention about apartment living, what i mean by that is someone who is just starting out for the first time 😀, and yes I have a girlfriend that I would like for her to move there when I get there, lol, am from Wisconsin so could imagine how I don't like snow 😅, and then my last question would be, do they allow mini electric cars like to shop for groceries, any insight would be helpful, thank you for taking the time to read this - CyberGod

Hey there! For apartments options I would recommend checking in Agana Heights, Maite, and Tamuning. I've stayed in an apartment solo in Maite for $800/month and that included utilities. There are some in Tumon but they would likely be a little more pricey since it's a big tourist area. If you have your girlfriend as your roommate though then you might be able to afford those just fine, or even rent a smaller house! Definitely connect with a realtor for detailed options 😁 I recommend Today's Realty, Modern Realty Guam, or Remax Diamond Realty. For the groceries, are you referring to having a private shopper?

Being from Guam, where do you recommend for a family to live while travel nursing there for 3 months? Any advice moving from mainland to Guam?

I'd say possible homes for rent, as hotels can get pricey for that long of a time. Quieter areas that are also near a lot of stuff for families would be Agana Heights, some parts of Tamuning, and more south in Asan/Piti. I would definitely check with someone from Today's Realty or Modern Realty Guam to see what kind of options they have!

It definitely is a teeny bit pricier than the U.S. only because of import costs, but you can still find some great deals! For housing, it depends if you're military or civilian. Most homes will rent out for the amount of BAH/OHA that military are afforded, so around 2200-2400 monthly. As a civilian I've rented solo at 800 a month, or if you have a roommate you'd be able to split a two bedroom unit at 1400-1500 a month (about 750 per person). Hope that helped answer your question!

@@daneliasosa6077 No volcanoes, but there are occassionally earthquakes and tropical storms. It's been a really long time since a typhoon has hit too. As far as the crime rate, it really depends on where you stay. Just like any other place, there are safe areas and questionable areas; it's all about seeing who your neighbors would be. We always had great neighbors who were just friendly and looked out for each other 😊
