Hi Gee! Thank you so much for your videos! I'm a newbie and your explanations are to the point and easy to follow. In this video, you listed your mix as 1 part paint, 2 parts Floetrol plus water. But in the previous paint mixing video with the drip test, you listed 1 part paint, 1 part Floetrol plus water. What was it that I missed?

I love watching your videos. How much liquid varnish to you leave on your paintings.
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
It depends entirely on the size of your painting- you need enough to evenly coat the canvas
@SDPattiJo2 жыл бұрын
Love your videos. What type of varnish do you use?
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Hello Patti! Im using an acrylic polymer varnish like polycrylic or liquitex - any water based varnish will theoretically work here, im just using whats available in Egypt

Also, what did you initially pour onto the tile before the actual pour? Is that the Behr 8300? It’s not mentioned. Thx.
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Not Behr no - and btw Behr 8300 is never used by itself because its an untinted base paint. The white is just some of the white paint i mixed from earlier in the video. It helps whatever sits on top of it move easier across the tile/canvas
@beejstube Жыл бұрын
@@GeePours so the pillow paint is any regular white paint (1 part) mixed with varnish or floetro(2 parts)? then you add the color and water for the paint you are going to pour? also the base paint, is it a interior / exterior house paint? with or without primer? thank you so much

Hi Gee, thank you for your videos they are very informative and easy to understand. I would like to know what the white paint is that you put on the canvas before you did the tree ring and ribbon pours? Thank you again for all your help!
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Hey Carla! Thank you for saying that :) So in techniques where you want your composition to "travel" on the canvas without warping too much, you use a base layer of the same consistency. This white paint is the same that I used in the cups

Hi Gee your tips are most helpful. I just have a question. I have done a number of flip cup pours, however when drying the pour starts to crack. I initially thought it was because it was drying too quickly because I am in very hot conditions but even doing it at night in room temperature the paint is still cracking. Do you have an idea why this is happening, your tips will be a great help. Thanks Daniela
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
This could be a number of things so Id need a little more information. What pouring medium are you using? Are you tilting your excess off? Did you use any silicone oil?
@danielagrimm77012 жыл бұрын
@@GeePours hi I am using the glue/water medium, I did use silicone oil and I did pour off excess. I used a slightly thicker consistency than too runny. I used an A4 canvas with 200g of paint.
@danielagrimm77012 жыл бұрын
Is there a way I can send you a picture
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
@@danielagrimm7701 so its mostly likely the pva glue being used and how much water was used to thin it. If its Elmer’s glue all, its probably the amount of water. If its another brand that I perhaps dont know, it could be that. PVA glue isnt really created equal. They come in varying quality and not all of them work well with pouring
@danielagrimm77012 жыл бұрын
@@GeePours thank you I shall try another brand and see what happens, appreciate your reply

You said that if the is thin it is good for dutch pours cloud pearl pours. Medium mounds 1 second disappears is good for straight, dirty swipe, open cup funnel chain kiss and puddle pours. What is dutch pour?

The dutch pour is the one where you move paint around with a hair dryer

Great video, thank you. I just have one question, do you have to prepare the tile before pouring on it? I tried to paint a tile with acrylic paint and it just peeled right off.
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
If you think about it, Acrylic paint can peel off most things that are not porous. Thats why tiles are great for practice because you can easily peel it off and try again. Ive been peeling and reusing the same 10 tiles for a year now😄

@GeePours Жыл бұрын
@@ghazalsigaroodi7001 sure thing Ghazal - when working with silicone, you have to make sure that the color mingle in the cup or on the canvas. If the silicone colors dont cover anything or dont get covered by anything, nothing will happen. You will also probably need to use a torch to bring the cells to the surface if you’re not using floetrol. Making sure your consistency is right is important, but unless you’re really thick, you should still be getting cells. If they appear then get very wobbly, then you know you’re too thin
@zyiasusie79372 жыл бұрын
Why did you pour white paint first. That I have not seen. AND...confused about when to add the silcone. In the paint or over top when you finished?
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Both work but yield different results with regards to silicone. The white paint that goes first serves to carry the colors on top without the colors buckling on themselves as you spread the paint around
@zyiasusie79372 жыл бұрын

Hi Gee. I don’t understand what you did as the last step on the flip cup. During the last step all the cells appeared. Thx
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mickie - the very last step I used a small lighter, but i normally use a little kitchen torch, like the ones used to make creme brûlée’s, to speed up the process of the silicone oil drops rising to the surface. This will still happen without a torch, it just takes a little longer

This is an acrylic based varnish, in Egypt we use it to paint over latex wall paint to give it a glossy finish. You should look for a water-based varnish.
