He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book kzbin.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

This is just awesome. Most "attack" dogs you see are all trained to make up their own mind on when to attack and I can't tell you how many videos I've seen of them attacking at the wrong time. THIS is how it should be done! Well done guys, well done!

That is impressive on many levels. (1) The fact that a dog of that age can be some so disciplined. (2) To literally be in the dogs face provoking it to attack and it just looks at you like your on crack is truly amazing. (3) That dog at no point of the video even considered walking a step beyond its handler.

This video is very inspiring. You guys know what you are doing and are very good at taking a german shepherd and making them the best dog they can be. I have a white shepherd that is a little over 7 months old and this video makes me see that not training your dog to do even the basic commands is not fair for the dog. Thank you for posting this.

The training ethic is phenomenal here. I've seen a lot of trainers whom dogs just see someone with a bite suit on and attack. It's horrifying that that behavior is taught, either they're biting the suit or out of raw aggression and instability. Neither is acceptable or helpful in a real world situation? Where are you located and do you do lessons, or are you a trainer/breeder whom trains they're own dogs? I'd love to have a dog with the training your dogs are equip with. Absolutely phenomenal, kudos to you.

I really like the training. It doesn't seem cruel, the proper training would allow a person to reconcile with the dog and the training also seems to teach good manners to humans too. Don't overreact because some throws a box or something out of anger, help the dog by attacking at the same time and help subdue the attacker (although I'll admit I haven't seen this practiced with a male owner), etc. It's a balanced, thought out teaching method. Which these guys were an Cali.

I've met and trained plenty of dogs for schutzund. Despite how the name is spelled or what it means it is only a sport. It shows POTENTIAL for real training, but the dog can easily be pattern trained to the routine and IS looking to bite only a sleeve.Even the dog in the video isn't truly trained yet for protection yet. when the dog takes down a man with no pads wearing only a muzzle he is trained. looks can be decieving.

as stated the dog in the video is 7 MONTHS OLD (had puppy teeth only 1 month ago!) He is in training and will be finished at about 18 months. I'm sure your dog at 7 months old was tearing bad guys apart and not flinching at intimidation. The video is about control and proper training.

I love the guy 'giving it the large' about his big scarey dog versus your youngster. The guy spends his Saturdays with a barn fan strapped to his back and his Sundays adding 80s soft rock tracks to the footage :-). Personally, I want to see you two get together and create the first airborne schutzhund squadron.

It's to show the dog's control. The dog does not get to decide when to be aggressive/bite; you do. So if after attacking you want your dog to be calm, he needs to be. He doesn't get to decide the one he just attacked is still a threat until you tell him he is.

also with older dogs we will test them in different environements (the home, streets, woods, etc) on different "bad" guys wearing no pads. The dog will generally be wearing a muzzle. This dog is WAY to young for that type of training. This dog thinks it is a game and is just practicing control. Even in the video you can see the pup predicting the drill. At about 18 months of age we do much more intense bite work.

I have a German Shepherd and she is honestly the biggest Ive ever seen. She easily stands almost 3 ft. at the shoulders and weighs 106lbs. We are still wondering when she is actually going to fill out. She is extremely obedient and kind (nearly to the point of cowardice) yet she will not hesitate to raise her hackles and tail when someone or something she doesn't recognize comes around. You have to be a good owner to have a Shepherd, lots of exercise and be dominant.

@Kakabeblen You are right about the Giant Schnauzers, however, what the video is referring to is Schutzhund, which refers to a dog sport in which dogs "attack" an aggressor without actually being trained as protection dogs. As a part of the sport, these dogs are trained to bite a sleeve and no other part of the body. An actual protection dog will bite whether a protective sleeve is present or not. Hope that helps clear things up a bit!

The key is stay relaxed as the dog learns off you. If you become tensed/anxious when another dog approaches you, your retreaver will feel your nervousness and act on that, causing it to become offensive, trying to protect you. Keep it on the lead for a while and when you come across another dog let the lead go as long as possible but still holding it and keep walking not paying any attention to either dog. This should help and if continued will solves the problem. Good Luck =)

You train the commands to the dog, then you train the owner/person that will be in future charge of the dog. Then you put them together and train the dog to listen to the owner/ other person. It's is very simple to train dogs, it just takes time, patience, experience, and wisdom.

read the video description - the dog does 'real protection work' when he gets older. It's not decieving. Real protection work should start in prey when they are young - defense when older. I went to a top Schutzhund school in the country and am an experienced schutzhund decoy (my personal dog is fully trained in schutzhund) - so saying its not "real protection work" is not understanding it?

German shepherds are incredibly smart and loyal, if someone were to cause harm to their owner they would most likely go berserk and begin to attack. However if the dog is not loyal to the owner or hasn't known him long enough, it would most likely come down to instinct.

Find all sorts of games/toys you can use as training rewards and to get her drive going (balls, toys). You'll want to join a training club. You can't do this sort of thing without a professional "helper" (the person that gets "bit") and experienced trainers. It's not all about aggression and biting, but using the dogs drives to your advantage. Put the puppy in a puppy socialization class. A dog that is not well socialized can get nervous and attack out of fear rather than confidence.

im not calling schutzhund a joke. im calling it a sport. this is a 7month old dog in the video. An 8 yr old could back him down - don't be too proud of yourself. This dog will not be ready for another year. understand what "in training" means? Feel free to visit my facility when ever you want to "back down" the adult dogs in my program in real scenarios. Schutzund dogs are only required to bite a sleeve in a predictable training scenario on a field. I can train a lab to do this in one week.
