Everyone comparing this ship to a Tie-Fighter....where the real and clear inspiration for this thing came from the Vulture Class Droid Starfighter, from the prequels. I can see the cockpit being inspired by a Tie-fighter, but that's about it. Even the two side mounted guns are a spit image of the Droid Starfighter.

It's way closer in design to a TIE silencer, almost a straight copy. The Droid fighter is close too in the limbs and cannons, but the Droid fighter has a swept back head/cockpit in the rear of the body rather than pushed forward. Please, if you woul, look up a tie silencer and get back to me, bud, let me know if you're with me.

You can get a 1 SCU container (2K aUEC at the cargo deck on space stations) up the elevator; get in through the front cockpit; then move the 1 SCU container into the compartment with the engineering terminal and sit it there to store loot.

You can fit multiple 1SCU in it or a mini SCU comfortably inside on a shelf and then 1SCU. Pulse can also be loaded but it’s fiddly

I LOVE this ship. Currently the Qi is the choice to make. Another huge thing that this ship has is the ability to dock with a Cap ship. Where the Vanguards are too big, this allows you to take a heavy fighter in your Polaris as your shuttle. You can still transport several people and now you are fast and armed. Vanguard don’t fit and the F8 carry’s only 1. And you can light that interdictor from in the Polaris. Har.

The Guardian really seems designed to do after larger and slower ships that have some defense, but not many turrets. Which ironically, given it's name, makes it a great commerce raider. Can go after med/large cargo ships and the luxury ships, preventing them from jumping away, which is usually their best defense. Partner with a Corsair or similar, and steal cargo or take ransom.

I’m pretty sure Qi is an alternate spelling for Chi, as in Qigong and Tai Chi, so pronounced “Chee.” Makes me wonder if the quantum snare is metaphorically arresting the life force of the other ship, which really amps up the Sith vibe.

The Defender is also built for range with beds. It doesn't have some of the other amenities, but that could come with a later update. The bulkheads help contain a fire or bull breach.

The Guardian needs some tweaking on the number side. The thrusters only have 1000HP meaning you can get crippled by a S1 missile until that gets changed. It's also way to easy to black out in this thing considering it's performance sheet. Power also seems to be at least 4 pips short at all times even with the best power plants it can fit.

The power bit is intended. CiG had already spoke about this across all ships eventually. The batteries ships will carry will allow for short bursts of extra bower which can be allocated beyond what the powrplants will cover naturally. At least the QI has a better powerplant and if you don't run the QED or life support, you can get power into guns and shields.

My plan for it apart from using it in its dedicated role as a solo long-range fighter would be to station it inside a Merchantman as an alternative to the Defender. Given the large profile of the landed Defender and the large height of the Merchantman's hangar in the crosssection images it should just work out.

Long range? There's more to range than making quantum jumps. It doesn't even have that much quantum fuel. It has less range on hydrogen than even something like a buccaneer or herald or a number of other ships. I think it's another ship like the nomad that has all the trappings of range and living out in space but the fuel doesn't match that. Being able to fly for 40 minutes before having to go refuel isn't "long range"

They need to add a cargo grid to the dead area behind the pilot. If you take cargo you would have to EVA front to back if you needed but could carry cargo in a pinch and make sense of the space and the doors.

I like the guardian. But 1 s2 missile hitting the right spot can disable this ship in combat. Experienced that at pirate swarm. Was busy tweaking power then suddenly without warning a missile hit my front left side and it took out the maneuvering thrusters at front.

One thing to mention (and yes, the numbers will change as the gameplay develops) is that the range of the Guardian's Quantum Interdictor is about 4.5km. This places it into the same 4-5km tactical use band as the Cutty Blue, Antares, etc. In comparison, the Mantis has a 12.5km QI range (and also has living quarters), though it has almost no firepower. In terms of supporting a Polaris, wouldn't you tactically be better off with a Mantis? When I compare this to my Vanguard Warden, the Guardian strikes me as being more of a glass cannon. The Guardian has only one shield and does not have the redundant systems seen in the Vanguards. The turret on the Vanguard is a huge help against light fighters. Finally, I can place a pulse vehicle on the Vanguard's ramp, which increases its usefulness.

I've had fun taking on bounties with this, and even lighter fighters (in PvE) get shredded, as long as you can keep some distance. Once those light fighters get in close, you're right, the turning rate shows its weakness, but just keep that range up and you're golden.

I am definitely writing some ridiculous things here, so please take it with a MASSIVE Grain of salt! :) 1) I had a Corsair for the longest time until recently. I am quite unhappy with how it turned out in the end..... My favorite ship in terms of design, purpose & all around versatility (+ the firepower) - The way they did it dirty just irks me. And to show how unhappy it made me, i decided to upgrade to the Qi - even though i did not care for it at ALL! 2) Nowadays i have played the CCU game and made the Adjustments i want to my fleet, while trying to keep things as close to what i will be using them for as possible. - I will be using This ship as the Heavy Fighter of choice, to go inside my Polaris`s hangar. Take it with my org mates to Pyro and just have fun with it :) - When my mates are not here, i will still have it in there, just go out to an VHRT / ERT mission and leave the Polaris in the middle of the fight and take off with my Guardian. 3) The thing i will be using this ship for is as a "Advanced Super Expensive AF" """"Big air Quotes here"""" "Starter Ship" like the Mustang series :) Yey i have a competent fighter starter now LoL :D - It sounds stupid, ridiculous - i know! :) - Over time, when i saw and flew one that a buddy has.... It really grew on me. The way it flies, handles in atmo & the looks. It just gives me such strong vibes of a Empire heavy Tie Fighter. The major difference is the engines - which i also like. So as long as they are not a massive weakness when the shields are down, it should be a considerable threat in PvP :) 4) I will be using my other ships in my fleet, to do my cargo hauling & other missions along the way with them. - Btw Execute made a point of this ship not being able to deal with light fighters or smaller faster ships. With the way MM is set up right now, im not 100% sure i agree. I slapped on Galdereen Repeaters or Omnisky cannons or even Lightstrike ones -> And it just works. Back strafing and understanding how to move your ship, with this one being just nimbl enough i can barely keep my nose on targets & take them out reliably. Yes i do have issues with faster fighters, but the moment i get that nose on them - they are gone within a few shots. MM just makes it so much easier with the slower engagement speeds! So for me, its an issue - but one i can work with. Biggest downside is the top speed! The light fighters will get to pick when they engage and run away, so this ship only has the HP advantage over them in the long fights. Once they fix its missile problems and G forces - it will be a really competent fighter.

27:45 - Yes. It's the dumbest design in all of SC. That big glass bubble that just gets obstructed by everything is not well thought out and is amateurish. Same with the engines that aren't protected by the wings. Aaaaaand there it is 29:57 !Great minds, haha. The placement of the engines also makes zero sense for physics. The thing would be flipping and flopping all over!

Interesting. You're calling out the Guardian for it's lack of versatility ... but I chose the Guardian over the the Vanguard because of the Vanguard's lack of versatility. Right now, there are only two viable weapons loadouts for the Vanguards: Either a 1000 m/s energy repeaters loadout, or a a 1300 m/s energy cannons loadout. That's it. Want ballistics? Too bad so sad. Seriously, I've had a bunch of CCUs to multiple Vanguard ships sitting in my hangar for ages to see if CIG addresses this, but for some reason they won't. Instead, they offer the Guardian which offers every conceivable weapon loadout choice, ranging from 828 m/s Deadbolts to 1800 m/s Galdereens. And I like knowing I can outfit the ship one day to smash components on large ships, and then switch the next day to terrorize fighters. P.S: Not saying the Guardian doesn't have issues. For some reason, its canopy is made of tissue paper and this ship gets one shot by even size 1 missiles to the face. I also think its flight performance could be a bit better to compensate for the lack of shield. So I'm going to ask for a refund on the Qi CCU for the time being. At least until she's in better shape. P.P.S: Did you know the Hornet Tracker got a significant quantum range buff in a recent patch? It now has the same fuel as the heavy fighters.

i bought both guardians and after a few hours of testing and comparison... these things are trash!!! i like how fast and the strait Gs... the dam things skid for hours. try to change directions and and your going to wait a while hahaha. if your accurate those cannons with alpha damage are pretty good but only 2 guns with repeaters? time to kill is to long... this ship is to large for your opponent to miss you.... i just seeing any current game play where this ship is a better pick than other options... if you like to turn and burn this ship is pretty boss. if i had to say something about these ships. they look cool but avoid this trash

I've been having considerable fun with it. It seems to be on par with the Lightning for me. It feels more like a support heavy than the F8. Definitely very useful with a group. I haven't noticed any crazy skidding, but I'll do some testing.
