Well, I tried to repress it and I carried it's crown I reached out to undress it and love let me down Love let me down So I tried to erase it, but the ink bled right through Almost drove myself crazy and these words led to you And all these useless dreams of living alone Like a dog-less bone So come let me love you Come let me love you And then, colour me in Well, I tried to control it and cover it up I reached out to console it, it was never enough Never enough So I tried to forget it, it was all part of the show Told myself I'd regret it, but what do I know About all these useless dreams of living alone Like a dog-less bone So come let me love you Come let me love you And then, colour me in Come let me love you Come let me take this through the end Of all these useless dreams of living All these useless dreams All these useless dreams of living All these, oh, no So come let me love you Come let me love you Come let me love you Come let me in Colour me in, Damien Rice.

In a confessional interview in 2009, Damien opened up about his romantic relationship with Hannigan, the band tensions prior to her leaving and how he "would give away all the music success, all the songs and the whole experience to still have Lisa in [his] life." Still, after all this time, it's pretty clear from this performance how he feels.

My Favourite Faded Fantasy is filled with emotionally penetrating songs, like this soulful confession "Coulor Me In" a song that I personally can't listen too often enough. The genius of Rick Rubin's production only adds to the ultimate songster and poetic wordsmith, Damien Rice's intimate connectedness to the human condition... This album grows on me more with each savored listening moment.

Very early on in life I learned that there are some songs that you want to share with everyone you know, you want everyone to listen to it and there are songs you love so much you want to keep it just to yourself, because you know sharing those will expose your most vulnerable aspects. Your soul will be laid bare for those who listen to it. This is that kind of a song. You keep it close to yourself all the time, waiting for that one moment when you've found the person you can be most vulnerable to and show them the beauty and authenticity of these chords. " All these useless dreams " are the ones you silently wish would become true one day and I hope it does :)

It was a fall rainy night and I was on my way home driving on the New Jersey turnpike and I remember taking a deep breath because I was full of emotions over loosing my best friend.. and in letting go let out my breath of what was us.. My finger started to push on the radio dial and out of the static I heard this song for the first time.. I pulled over.. could barely see out of my window.. It went silent and all I heard was this song.. It coloured me in.. It was so moving.. I grabbed my phone to record a bit of it.. soon after sent it to her to listen to along with a few words of my own... Today I can hold her close to me because I can love her deeply.. Cherish her... We can be Men and still love our Lady's.. Be inspired by her!!! Keep her close!!! She's all you need.. Thank you for sharing your soul!!!

I don't think it gets any better than a musician and their guitar. Damien is that and I'm glad I've been lucky enough to listen to him for so many years. He is simply God's gift to all true musicians out there.

A friend of mine introduced me to "O" many years ago when it first came out and I been hooked ever since. I sincerely feel that some songs come to you exactly when you need them and Damien Rice has brought those songs to me over and over again. This song is no different, I sent it to someone to say exactly what I wanted to but just couldnt find the words to say. Thanks Damien.

All seriousness aside for a moment, but what THE HELL is there in Ireland's water? Him, Hozier, The Cranberries, Enya, Van Morrison, Rory Gallagher, Shane McGowan, Sinead, U2, even just Dermot Kennedy these days... the air sure is different up there...

I've loved his music from such a long time ago... I stopped listening, life took me trough a lot of thing and places... Some very painful... Now, trying to reconect with who I used to be, I found his music again... I felt that I was being brought back to a part of myself I had forgotten... Listening to Damien's music again, was a little bit like coming home, that's how good he is. I still have a long way to go until I find myself again, but on the journey I found this old friend, and through his music, I'll feel at least for the few minutes that any song can last, that I am not so lost anymore. Funny how music works, that's why it is an art. Thank you Damien...

Obrigada!!!! 28/01/2022

[Verse 1] Well I tried to repress it and I carried its crown I reached out to undress it and love let me down Love let me down [Verse 2] So I tried to erase it but the ink bled right through Almost drove myself crazy and these words led to you And all these useless dreams of living alone Like a dog-less bone [Chorus] So come let me love you, come let me love you And then... colour me in [Verse 3] Well I tried to control it and cover it up I reached out to console it, it was never enough Never enough [Verse 4] So I tried to forget it, it was all part of the show Told myself I'd regret it but what do I know About all these useless dreams of living alone Like a dog-less bone [Chorus] So come let me love you, come let me love you And then.... colour me in Come let me love you, come let me take this through the end Of all these useless dreams of living All these useless dreams All these useless dreams of living, all these, all.... Oh no, so come let me love you, come let me love you Come let me love you, come let me in..

I cannot believe people listened to this incredible poetry and melody when they were teens. Guys, you're so lucky 😢 I've heard him for the 1st time about 3 months ago. Guess what I've been listening to these months. Btw, I've been introduced to DR by Boris Grebenshchikov's old program Aerostat recorded in the late 2000s. Thank you, good old BG, for such a miracle.
