James Gunn confirmed this Groot is a different Groot. He's the son, a young adult passed grumpy teenage stage, so he's much happier and outgoing. He's also 100% CGI, which is odd, because he does look like a man in a suit. They just made him thicker. The analogy that he goes to the gym in college is hilarious btw 😂👍

Groot is actually 100% cgi. James Gunn had to confirm this recently because so many people were convinced he was practical due to how good the vfx were but that isn’t the case. He is 100% CGI in every scene.

This was such a fun holiday special, and I loved how hilarious Drax and Mantis were throughout it. Also, the ship that they used to go to Earth is their third ship called the Bowie. The first two ships that they had were the Milano and Benatar respectively.

The Milano got blown up in GOTG 2 when they crash landed on that planet & Ego showed up. The Benatar was their 2nd ship & most likely blown up during Endgame when Thanos attacked, as that was the last time we saw it was during Endgame when Nebula landed it & blew away Scott Lang's (Antmans) taco. This is the GOTG's 3rd ship the Bowie!

I loved the Go Bot reference the alternative cartoon to the Transformers that I actually preferred more. What people don’t know is Transformers are part of the Marvel cannon and the character that links the Marvel Heroes to the Transformers is the British Marvel character Death Head who was a Robot Bounty Hunter that left Cybertron and ended up with the Marvel heroes, so technically they could do a MCU Transformer crossover and it would be Marvel cannon.

What makes things even more complicated is that when Hasbro bought GoBots, they established them as being from an AU within the Transformers multiverse. And of course, as you said, Transformers are in Marvel canon. So the existence of GoBots in the MCU is... complicated.

The most amazing thing about this special is that it proves Go-Bots exist in the MCU as a species, but unlike 99% of Christmas specials there's no proof that Santa is real in the MCU. (Mantis being Peter's half-sister was apparently meant to be revealed in GoTG vol 2, but ended up on the cutting room floor).

Phase 4 was kinda like... if you're gonna skip a phase... this would be the one to skip. You wouldn't really miss anything that couldn't be explained by a quick footnote in Phase 5. It wasn't bad.... but it wasn't really.... important at all. Like.... at all. Loki was the only thing that really mattered in the whole phase.
