Guardians Of The Galaxy Is BETTER Than I Expected | Review

Thanks to Square Enix for the code! So, I previewed Guardians Of The Galaxy a couple of weeks ago and walked out with some question marks. After completing all 16 chapters of the story, I'm happy to say I walked out enjoying it more than expected. That said, this game boasts a decent amount of flaws in the delivery of its defining features. So, is it worth your money? Let's chat.

I think the bullet sponginess comes from you trying to use star lord’s physical damage primarily. Playing on medium difficulty you pick the element that builds the most stagger to remove the shield then freeze them and use a guardian ability or melee and they go down extremely fast

I loved this game, it was very surprising how fun and emotional this games story was. I have a critique on your critique about the enemies being really spongy though. In the video footage you are showing from 8:05 to 9:16 you didn't utilize the other Guardians at all and was just running around in a circle shooting them with Starlord's blasters. This is why the enemies are spongy is because the devs want the players to be the leader and command the team to dispatch enemies. I found especially after fully upgrading my team, other than boss fights I was carving enemies up like a hot knife through butter. Especially when you string together combo's of Rocket or Groot holding all the enemies in one place and then commanding Drax and Gamora to go on a stabbing spree! Also when you said that by the end you don't have to command the Guardians to cut down pipes or build bridges because the devs probably thought what's the point. That's actually very false, It's due to the progression and cohesion of the team now that they start to do these things automatically. It's even part of the dialogue in Chapter 12 when Groot makes a bridge on his own and Starlord comments "Hey I didn't even have to tell you, we are really becoming a team".

Well from what I've seen the gameplay, it's world design, choice and a game with no single micro transactions and a good solid 18 hrs of campaign seems like a good deal to me.

Sure, a short game on sale for $20.00 or less. A 19 hour etc. game is a rental at best. There’s no way in hell this game is worth $60,00. This is why games are shorter every year because there’s enough rocket scientists bending over and throwing their wallet at any ore-order they see. 😑

It was an OK movie, let's not get too crazy here. I know it doesn't seem that way, but not everybody loves super action packed Marvel movies in which you can hardly understand the plot. GotG had a nice style to it though.

It feels so good seeing this game get the good press it deserves. I feel like too many people saw the Square Enix logo on the box and immediately assumed it was being developed but the same team behind the Avengers flop. Like they completely ignored the fact SE is only publishing these games, not the active developer here. I've been looking forward to this game since it was revealed, can't wait til I can pick it up and give it a shot.

It’s a Mass Effect style of gameplay and I was okay with it since I adore ME. They just need to REALLY beef up Quill’s customization in the sequels if they plan to stick to this route

Well I know that GOTG isn't even released yet but I still wonder what the next project of eidos montreal is, a new Deus ex (which I personally want), maybe a new ip or maybe a sequel to GOTG?? Very curious to see what they'll work on next.

To me this was more comic guardians and it feels like they were able to couple steps in the right direction avengers wasn't as fun except the campaign mission but I would say I'd play this more than avengers if I had to choose

While I am happy this turned out well, I do get the feeling they'll be churning Marvel properties for a long while because of it. Meaning we likely won't be getting a continuation to the Deus Ex saga any time soon. Or one done properly anyway.

I actually expected a sort of companion quest when you would have one of the 3 with you defect, so that you have to solve the thing as an integral part of the story, in order to progress to the unavoidable single ending. Meaning 3 different playthroughs as a result. Bummer, a wasted chance in my personal opinion. Thanks for your videos!

I always find it hilarious how a game like this the developers and publishers chose to stay in the $60 range for BOTH generations. Meanwhile EA and Activision didn’t hesitate to put their copy and paste games on that $70 tier. 😆

I'm loving the game. it has flaws but is refreshing and most importantly fun. I don't need deep mechanics or choice and consequence in every game. The straightforward narrative driven experience works for GotG.

This is a game that looks fun, but with no replay value, and anywhere from 10-20 hours depending on which review you read, it just seems short. I think even $45 is a high asking price considering what else is out there at that price point. I will wait until it hits around half price probably. A lot of this probably depends on how much you love the Guardians, and the Guardians universe. But I played the old Telltale Game, and while fun it was also pretty short. Just not thrilled on really short games.

There is replay. All kinds of different A or B options and branches. It isn’t as deep as the Mass Effect trilogy but perhaps good for a second play through.

I loved this game nice surprise out of nowhere. It’s far from a master piece but it was refreshing enough keep me engage till the end. Luckily I didn’t counter many bugs, nothing game breaking but there was one annoying bug I got stuck with. A Section where I had walk across a ledge and weirdly the game only lets you go one way. So I had go across to go back for the game to bug out and enter me back into the animation to back onto the ledge. So just stuck in a loop going back and forth until eventually stopped. Anyone else have this problem?
