This was super helpful. I just got one in the mail and looked in the box. Lots of parts, UGH! I DON'T want to look at a manual, I want to watch someone set this up. Spent about 1/2 hour watching Stephen's excellent tutorial and how to assemble and set up. VOILA! 30 minutes later, it is assembled, balanced and running. THANK YOU! EXCELLENT! GREAT HELP! (I used a Sony A7Rii and a Sony 10-18 lens)

One very strong point is Gudsen Moza support. They've been updating firmware and adding features very quickly. Advance Time Lapse is one and the Mimic feature you mention is another recent addition. This seems to be a big advantage over Zhiyun Crane V2.
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
We'd love to try those time lapse features out when it comes to Android. Their support is pretty quick though. However, we did notice that they ripped our entire video and posted it to their own KZbin channel without permission. We've sent them a note so hopefully they make this right. As they say, exposure doesn't pay the bills!

Cool review. I agree the threads on the handle (battery compartment) are too few and to me too thin. I'm worried they might strip. I'm also worried about the batteries. Right now I can only find Moza branded batteries for them from Gudsen... what if they stop using this battery then where will you get new batteries from? Maybe I'm overthinking it. I own both the Moza Air and the Zhiyun Crane 2... yes many people don't usually compare these two together but I bought both because they both have a claimed max payload of 7 pounds. So far I'm really liking both and finding it very hard to decide which one I want to keep. I have to say the Zhiyun Crane 2 has a better build quality but not by a lot. Right now the only thing holding me back on the Moza Air is that I cannot control the Pitch and Yaw simultaneously via the joystick like I can with the Crane 2. However I can do this with the iPhone app... not sure why not with the joystick. I'm glad that both have new firmware that allow roll follow (dutch angle). I guess I'll be happy with either... thoughts?
@megatechnews6 жыл бұрын
We all think the Zhiyun products are more refined. Even though the underlying hardware quality is similar, there seems to be a bit more thought in Zhiyun's execution, which includes software, documentation. Having said that, the Moza Air is still a great value, but does come with a few rough edges like some issues with software updates, lack of fully functional Android App (still), and some seemingly weird and inconsistent gimbal behaviour between users. Not saying Zhiyun is perfect, but the amount of complaining of the same/similar problems seems less? We still have the Moza Air and kept it for its value. And we're not afraid of tweaking. But we know some people that will want to steer clear of any product that doesn't just function out of the box. Which, for us, the Moza Air did not. But we got there. What were your findings?
@spiderwayne6 жыл бұрын
I pretty much agree with you on everything. I've decided to keep both because where one fails the other shines. Right now I'm experimenting with Motion Timelapse. Without tweaking the Zhiyun Crane 2 is a bit bumpy but works and can be corrected in post. The Gudsen Moza Air is doing something strange, as soon as I enter the Motion TimeLapse part of the app the gimbal starts to slowly spin and the only way to stop it is it turn the gimbal off and start it up again. I'm sure I'll figure it out but this is what's happening right now at the time of writing this comment. UPDATE: I went to the Gudsen website and downloaded their MOZA_Assistant application and used it to recalibrate and the problem is gone.

Dear friend thank you for this video and your exhaustive evaluation. I am writing to you from Italy. I use this gimbal with a Sony a7III and to get the video REC I had to set it on my Sony REC with button snaps menu 2 - 3/9. In this way I can give the REC from the gimbal but only if I press the power button of the gimbal twice. As for the Thumbs Wireless, even if Sony Alpha is set, I can't start the REC. May I know how you solved? I state that I have updated the firmware of the gimbal and the wireless Thumbs. Thanks for your help.

Hey bro this might be a stupid question but what are the control cables for and where do they go?
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
They plug into the gimbal and into your camera to allow you to start stop recording.
@peterdaprix44796 жыл бұрын
I just bought (June 16 '18) and they have added a sliding plate both left right and front back. But it won't turn on! I press and hold the on/off button and nothing happens. Yes, the batteries are fully charged and the camera balanced (using a Sony A 6500). But those cables (I also use a Canon 80D) do not plug into the female receptor on the gimbal while they do plug into the cameras. Plus, I use the Manfrotto Quick Release click in rather than the slide in. Any suggestions how to adapt this? My whole photo system from Manfrotto heads to sliders are all using this other system. Thank you.

Are there any noises from the gimbal that might be picked up while recording?
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
There's only noise if there's a balancing issue. Or if the power on the motors is cranked up too much for the payload. But it should be almost completely silent otherwise.

I didnt get the point of blcking the screen ?does it block or no? And would mark 4 with a sigma 35mm art series fit well on it?
@megatechnews6 жыл бұрын
If the gimbal mechanism blocks the screen, you can't properly see what you're shooting. You're guessing. Like fumbling around in the dark. A monitor helps, but it doesn't come with one. Some cameras have flip out screens. But not all. I don't have experience balancing a Canon and that lens. If you follow the steps correctly, then like many others, it should be no problem.
@YungMilOnstage7 жыл бұрын
No one every speaks on this with these reviews, Does This gimbal go crazy when you try to manually focus or flip out the screen etc. like some others do in this price range?
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
I'll say that it depends. If you balanced with the screen out then no worries. If you didn't, and the gimbal was difficult to get dialed to begin with, then there might be a negative effect. But if your gimbal was easy to balance then maybe not since there's enough leeway. Your mileage may vary of course. You can manual focus. You just have to be gentle. The motors are pretty strong.
@YungMilOnstage7 жыл бұрын
MEGATechNews.com thanks for your reply! I ended up buying the Moza Air and it’s near perfect for what I need. much sturdier than my previous gimbal I can just feel that the motors are stronger given the payload. the encoders I believe they have might be a reason too. Ended up having no issue with the problem my initial question concerned 👌

Try the latest firmware. Then balance it correctly with the camera following their guide. Definitely don't turn it on without a camera or it is guaranteed to go nuts. It needs a load. The Crane V2 did this as well but it seemed to be more forgiving. Definitely give their support team a shout. They are usually pretty responsive.

There isn't a total capacity of 6000MAH as these batteries are stacked in parallel hence remain at their base cell capacity but multiply the voltage x3.

Bummer! I guess different retailers can choose to do different things. We picked the bundle with the most stuff included for the same price. We are concerned about the thread because if the insert pulls out, then bye bye thread. But luckily, you can replace the bottom cap if you can get Moza to send you one.

when I balance mine turn it on it stays straight then about 30 or 40 seconds it starts to tilt to the side can you give me some advice
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
The only advice seems to be just contacting Moza support. They are very responsive. We had the same issue and updated firmware. Seemed to go away. But now we have an issue with it being difficult to balance with a setup that balanced easily before. It's good hardware but the constant "beta testing" with the software may be a turn off for some.

I'm really eager to buy a stabilizing gimbal. I have a nikon d7200 and this seems to be one of the very few ones that handles decent amount of wight. Will this work with my Nikon? If not which gimbal will you recommend? or Does anyone with a nikon has purchased this one who can answer this? Thank you in advance
@megatechnews7 жыл бұрын
Don't have any experience with Nikon specifically. But if can weigh your setup you'll know if this will take it for sure. The only factor after is the ability for this gimbal to balance that setup. Good balance between the lens and the body would be a good start. Or you might need to use weights to counter. Hopefully someone that stumbles on this video can give a definitive answer. What lens would you be using? That might help figure it out more definitively.

Weird. Most kits on Amazon in Canada came with one. The only thing that set them apart was whether you wanted the weird cleaning kit or a Manfrotto plate (which was kind of useless since it doesn't slide back and forth). We went for the one with the weird cleaning kit.

For some reason the one I purchased was shaking uncontrollably when I turned it on. I just returned it.

It typically only does that if there is no camera on it when turned on. Or if it's not balanced properly. The Crane V2 did this as well.

I bought this gimbal because of the cost, unfortunately I could never get it to balance my camera. Returned and got the crane.

Your camera may have been too light. We found that you need to weigh this thing down a little. If you have a light camera then Crane V2. But if you are planning on going to a heavier setup in the near future, it might have been better to just had some weight.

I just bought the Moza Air and so far my feelings are mixed. I did a lot of research and even spoke to Gudsen himself on IG about the Moza Air. It took me about 5 minutes to get it all balanced. I am using a Sony a6500 with a Rokinon 14mm AF lens. I have a Giottos MH621 Quick release plate www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/318567-REG/Giottos_MH621_M621_Quick_Release_Assembly.html that allowed me to slide the camera forward and back to find the sweet spot. Now the issues I am noticing: The gimbal powers itself off for no reason. The motors will stop but the blue light on the handle stays lit. The gimbal will not roll actually it does but only a little bit before it stops. The same with tilting upward. It won't tilt all the way up. I downloaded the iOS app for my iphone and cant seem to find how to update the firmware. I can control the gimbal from the app which is cool. The instruction manual that it comes with could be better and they could have explained all the options in the parameter settings a bit more better as well. I took it out for a test drive earlier. This is my 3rd handheld gimbal so I already know how to do the "Ninja walk" to get nice looking footage and honestly it I couldn't tell if the gimbal was on or off because everything looked shaky to some extent. One other thing you didn't mention in your video is that this gimbal gets heavy quick! I did a test without the handles and my forearms got tired faster than I thought they would. I put on the handle bars/handles and that took a lot of stress/weight off my forearms and I was able to use the gimbal a lot longer. Other than that, your review was top notch!
@cre8tivity067 жыл бұрын
Yes I can slide the camera back and forth and I have the same adapter on my tripod and slider and I can just pop the camera off one thing and put it on another thing and continue shooting. I used a paint marker and made marks on the QR plate and adapter to make balancing a lot faster...its gets me in the ballpark with minimal tweaking when I line up the plate with the marks I made.
