Max is baiting Lando into a DNF. No one else can catch him in the drivers’ champion at this point. But if Lando DNFs it throws Lando out of contention. He already knows the constructors is out of the window. The only way Charles would catch him is if Charles wins every race and Max DNFs every race which won’t happen. You're all looking at this from the wrong lens. VER driving was a damage limitation "professional foul". It was a masterclass of slowing down your rival by all means without being reckless. If he did nothing, NOR easily could have had P1 seeing how much improved the MCL was on the hard tires. NOR P1 / VER P4 25-12=13 NOR P3 / VER P6 15-8=7 NOR P2 / VER P6 18-8=10 (P2 Gifted) This was the race PIA inconsistent qualifying hurt the team and wasn't in position to defend like PER in '21 and really smack the pain on VER with a bigger point loss.

I appreciate Guenther trying to keep people from overthinking, but in this case I think Max knows exactly what he's doing, it's just a mentality that most of us aren't used to. Put any of us in a race car and our first instinct is to think, what is this car capable of and how should I drive it? If it's a shit car, you do your best and say, well, the car wasn't very good so of course we didn't win. A normal person looks at his tools, assesses what's possible, and tries to meet that potential. Put Max in the same car and his first thought is, what position do I need to place for my championship and how do I somehow get this shitbox to do it, one way or another? He doesn't start with what's in front of him, he starts with the outcome and works backwards. If the car is fast, he can drive easy and be friends with everyone. If the car can't win on pace, and the team can't win on strategy, then one way or another he's going to find a way to win through racecraft, cunning, intimidation, and reckless driving. A champion like Max cares only about the result, and Max himself has said that he's choosing to drive this way because it's his only way to produce the result he needs in the car he's been given. Max absolutely has the champion's mentality and I admire that, but this is where he has crossed the line. If this is the FIA finally cracking down on him for something we've all seen him do since 21, then it's a welcome and long overdue intervention.

I don't often disagree with Stoner G, but while the penalties in Austin were somewhat controversial, those dished out to Max in Mexico weren't. Red Bull didn't even try to argue about it. Also the 5 seconds added to Lando's time at Austin was the stewards being lenient: 10 seconds is the standard penalty. Max is reminding me more and more of Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna. Two great champions, both of whom took things too far in pursuit of wins, including taking themselves and their rivals out for championship advantage. I agree wholeheartedly with Guenther about updates in the ground effect era: it's like a weird kind of Russian roulette. Pull the trigger and hope for the best, or don't pull the trigger and know that you'll be no worse off.

I'm a max fan and I agree. However I don't think he cares and I think he did it on purpose. Lando has been running his mouth about max and the way he drives so I think mexico was just a statement from Max. Having different stewards is akin to having different refs ref a football game each week or different umpires in baseball. How many times have we seen poor calls or poorly ref’d games in other sports? They’re not consistent even though they have a fixed group of refs and umps within the agency. What we need is a centralized pool of stewards to pull from and rotate them out in a way that you at least have some overlap from race to race But it needs to be a pool of professionals and they have this job all season. No guest stewards, nothing like that. And substitutes come from the same pool of professionals. And they need to be trained every season to know how to apply the rules, not just have read the rules….

Günther should watch the Irish Man, I think it´s a great movie about already decayed culture and characters with very special dignified acting performances. It´s not meant as a comment on Guenther and he may not enjoy movies in artsy methodical way but observing the characters alone is a very nice. Btw Moneyball and Shawshank Redemption are not good in my opinion, Moneyball is more of a sad story about a calculative method replacing many other culture traits without reintegrating it in a more so poetic human spirit (so as long as we win it makes the rest obsolete/ sad message) and shawshank redemption, with excemption of the scene of the old man not fitting in a changed society, is just a fairy tale story full of dishones/stupid idealisation myths about people like Forest Gump or Green Mile.
