Guerlain Embruns D’Ylang perfume review on Persolaise Love At First Scent episode 163

I love Ylang-ylang, it's multidimensional and I'll wear it neat, but I found that I ended trapped on a bright hawthorn-type note in the opening of this fragrance. It does settle into something more agreeable but I didn't get on it with it as much as some of the others in the collection. On a different note, I'm grateful for the Mon Guerlain-type fragrances, as they're the bread and butter for a house like Guerlain. There's nothing wrong with a mainstream fragrance with all the trimmings. It enables a cash stream to continue producing classics like Shalimar, Nahema and Vol di Nuit are the cream frosting.

Gutted that I missed this live as this afternoon was a rare non-working opportunity. I went into my local Guerlain to chase this, because it has been impossible to find. My usual consultant told me that she just found out that the whole L’Art Et la Matière line is being discontinued in September. She isn’t aware as to if it is completely going or being repackaged. I have Tonka Imperiale, and adore Bois D’Armenie from this collection. If anyone in Australia has a decant of Embruns d’Ylang please let me know or point me in the right direction.

@@suhaimnajeeb7985 this will come across negative but it’s not. TI reminds me of a casino in Las Vegas. You walk through the sea of slot machines where people have been smoking, the staff have just done the rounds to mask the smoke smell with a room spray and the cycle continues and it builds and builds. Smoking, sweet but fresh cover, smoking. It’s like this weird delicious stale smell - stale most likely being the bitter almond note.

If the Mon Guerlain range (which I personally detest) means Guerlain can still invest resources in making beauties like Iris Torrefie or Bois d’ Armenie, I’m ready to forgive them for it. I just hope the mediocrity of those new perfumes will not seep into their classics and exclusive lines!
