So sorry to have missed this live! L’Heure Bleue is my favourite Guerlain and I’ve always been curious about L’Heure de Nuit, so was very happy to see you discuss it! Funnily enough, one of my favourite composers is Zbigniew Preisner, so was delighted to hear that connection made! Beautiful melancholy indeed.

I adore all of Preisner’s work for Kieślowski 😊 Thanks very much for watching.

Thank you for turning me onto the Preisner “Lacrimosa”. Music & fragrance - a match made in heaven! Absolutely loved this review. Thanks for the great insights.

Thank YOU for watching. I’m not convinced that L’Heure De Nuit and Preisner’s Lacrimosa are an entirely ideal match, but still: it’s interesting to consider how well they’re suited to each other.

Wow, a perfume review that almost made my cry, that's a first. Gentle resigned optimistm, this decription hit me hard. I know the feeling so well. Kaufman's Synechdoche, New York is the epitome of it for me. I think in music form, even though I love Preisner's Requiem for a Friend, it's best represented by Ólafur Arnald's Tomorrow's Song or Lag Fyrir Ömmu. I would love to have a perfume which evokes that feeling as well. I have to try and get a sample of L'Heure de Nuit somewhere. Thank you for another incredible review!

Just missed the live! I love L'Heure Bleue so I can't wait to try L'Heure de Nuit. If Persolaise likes it, it's officially going on the "to buy" list. If I had to choose one classic Guerlain, I guess I'm a L'Heure Bleue girl, but I'm so curious to try Shalimar. I don't know if I can pull it off in real life but I'm so drawn to it. I agree it's ok to like both! Hello again from North Carolina, USA!

Thanks for watching, Jackie. Do try Shalimar when you can.

I have been diving into the Guerlain classics more as of late-trying to expand my olfactory palette. They are my favorite house. As of now, I am totally team Shalimar, but I currently have a 2103 bottle of L’Heure Bleue EDP on the way. I suppose when I receive it we shall find out of which one I lean more. 😊

Ah, well, Shalimar and L'Heure are quite different from each other. Thanks very much for watching.

The original "L'here Bleue" was Brigitte Bardot's signature perfume in her youth and onwards. I can easily imagine the impact this scent would have to her striking beauty, if people who met her were wrapped in the aura of L'heure Bleue! Serge Gainsborough worshippes that memory, he talked passionate about it in a documentary. I don't know if it still is her favourite perfume. During the late 70's/early 80's she launched a really lovely and beautifully blended perfume called "La Madrague", named after her mansion by the Mediterranean sea. Her perfume branch disappeared after some years only.

I adore both Shalimar and L’heure Bleue though Shalimar was an immediate love and L’heure Bleue took a few wears for it to click for me.

I fall squarely into the Shalimar camp when it comes to Guerlain, and I’m also a lover of Mitsouko. Sadly for me, L’Heure Bleue reminds me of the scent of Play-Doh (possibly the heliotrope?) and I can’t get past the association.
@Persolaise3 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely not alone worth the Play Doh thing. Many thanks for watching.

It's even more amazing that all of these masterpieces were made by only one perfumer, or should I say by the one and only perfumer? (I shouldn't of course but I am tempted). I just learned that I belong with a L'heure bleue bunch.......fun to know (says the girl who wears Shalimar while she writes this ). And since I do I quite like L'heure de nuit. It's more modern and much more crowd pleasing than the original. And it can probably be considered very "Guerlain smelling". Thinking about it, 100 years ago L'heure bleue might have been as crowd pleasing as it could get! I also like how Thierry Wasser handles iris .
@Persolaise3 жыл бұрын
Yes, he was certainly a VERY gifted perfumer. I think L’Heure De Nuit is just right for our times. Thanks for watching.
@L-Ondee3 жыл бұрын
Indeed! I should not have used the term crowd pleasing. In harmony with its time is more appropriate.

Hmm late to the party as usual. It would be so nice to find a version of L'Heure Bleue that works for me, Ms. Team Shalimar. I like how you allow fragrances to prove their magic. I write fragrance copy and it's sometimes hard to convince a client that no last year's launch could be called "iconic" in any way.

Ah yes, that overused word. Thank you for watching.

arrgh i missed this !! can’t believe you started with this one - l’heure de nuit is THE scent i’ve not (yet) been successful at getting hold of as well as the ONLY one i’ve ever wanted. it’s available only in paris or very selected boutiques and in my last 3 trips to paris was never able to get it for some reason (no time, lack of luggage space etc...). i’ve always wanted it to complete my après l’ondée - insolence - l’heure bleue collection, & due to its ultra limited distribution it’s still in my to-buy list. there’s no way of getting it here in singapore since guerlain doesn’t deliver internationally & the local counter doesn’t accept orders. a purchase would have finally happened last year but of course we know what happened to travel ever since 2020... due to its cost i’d also never felt comfortable asking anyone to buy on my behalf since there’s also always an added risk of accidents happening ..! perhaps i’ll have some luck in 2022..? i’d understood l’heure de nuit to have been created as an homage to l’heure bleue as you said, but i believe it was only added into les parisiennes in the last couple of years, which was also when they renamed a couple of scents from previous themed releases that have since been discontinued. in fact, les parisiennes may have been the line created to house only selected previously-released perfumes & not new ones. for ex., baiser de russie used to be moscow from the cities range, and i know that promenade des anglais was something else although i don’t recall what exactly. in true guerlain fashion, liu & l’heure de nuit did not undergo name changes, just to spice things up a little ! it’s chinese new year too by the way - your choice of red is therefore very appropriate in spreading some auspicious cheer along with the valentine vibes ! 💗
@Persolaise3 жыл бұрын
Ah, Angeline, I’m so sorry you couldn’t make it. But my red jumper means that you WILL get to try the scent very soon. Happy new year to you!

This was my first Guerlain perfume purchase some years back - the one that put me on the road to many more. But I only tried the original LB recently, so I went in the wrong direction! I wonder if that makes a difference, because I still find L'Heure de Nuit to be more beautiful.

Actually, I think it’s wonderful that you tried the new one first - it’ll always have more special memories for you. Thank you for watching.

ahhhhhh i love both Shalimar and L'HEURE BLEUE , I do wear Shalimar more often because there are not many occasions where I get to go L'HEURE BLEUE , but I love the Iris in LHB and absolutely adore Shalimar Parfum Initial with a huge of dose of Iris in it. So, best of Iris scents? Please please please

I’d would kindly like to ask you to make a video about Samsara.It’s my favourite Guerlain .I am afraid it’s going to be discontinued soon since it’s disappearing from Guerlain’s website with a wink of an eye.I don’t even mention the lack of any celebration of Samsara’s 30th birthday two years ago.Well, I mentioned it . Please Please Please 🙏
