My Mom wore Shalimar. When I Magnin was shutting down in the mid-90s I went in and bought her a bottle and had it wrapped in the pretty Magnin’s wrapping and bag. She was dx’d with cancer a couple of years later. Shalimar has a bittersweet place in my nose and heart.

The bubblegum aspect comes from the large quantity of benzyl acetate which is naturally found in jasmine but also available as part of the synthetic palette. It is used prominently in bubblegum flavorings, hence the association but it is definitely the fruity part of jasmine. But this fragrance is very indolic and indole is not 'pissy' so I imagine something you think isn't indole, is in fact indole but you might see it as just jasmine.

Are you a chemist? Your analysis is fascinating. I have a love/hate relationship with jasmine notes. I loathe Alien, and I love Jasmin at Cigarette. Why?

@@dimad645 there are only so many ways to do a jasmine, so between those two fragrances your preference lies in the rest of the context of the formulation. Alien has a huge woody accord and lots of Cashmeran, and is freshened up by Habanolide, salicylates, lily of the valley odorants. Jasmin et Cigarette is more indolic, with a spicy, vanillic creamy fond. I suspect it's this difference. Alien is certainly the better built fragrance though and much more distinct.

😅 your face said it ALL!!! .... I LOVE 💙🧡🧡💙 this one!!! It took me a good year to love Iris, I think it needed to mature, but this Millesime Jasmin was LOVE at first sight and scent. The colour of the liquid almost stopped my heart when I opened the box. Hope you are safe Dacob. I'm from LA, but moved to Toronto a decade ago. My family is ok for now. I also have an unopened bottle of this perfume. I was lucky to get one. My local Guerlain perfume boutique had sold out by the time I dropped in. Luckily, they were able to order a bottle from another boutique from across the country. Thanks for the review.

Hello Dacob. Just like you I’m in heaven with Shalimar Millesime Jasmin. I went to visit my mum for Christmas in France and, while waiting for my train at one of the Paris train stations, I went to a Sephora branch in the station to browse on perfumes. And there it was on the shelf waiting for me. I sprayed once on my hand and the cold of the air mixed with the warmth of the jasmine and the Guerlinade took me to another Shalimar dimension: subtle, classy smooth and comforting. I bought 3 bottles for very special occasions as so afraid to run out (and will probably buy more). This is heaven in a bottle.

Finally !!! I remember you Iris review so was really looking forward to the Jasmin. Has it been easy to find where you live? Personally it’s one of those perfumes I don’t love at the first sniff and keep coming back to. It is a little animalic to me but surprisingly everyone complements me about it!

Can smell more Shalimar in here than in Millesime Iris. It starts out soapy and I'm not really getting jasmine. Sometimes it takes time for the scent to mature. The Iris aged beautifully so I'm sure this Jasmin will get better. Will try it again in warmer weather.

Shalimar edc has always been my favorite formulation too. 🙂 Jasmine as a perfume ingredient will darken, so much so that you’ll think the perfume has turned, but it hasn’t. I learned that with Diorissimo years ago.

Honestly was underwhelmed with this one, I’ll hold on to it and then sell it. Maybe I’ll revisit it though. The iris one is the best and should really stay as a regular flanker ! Edit- sprayed it again since it came out, I’ve learned a lot from you Dacob, sometimes fragrances need that oxygen to sort of develop fully, what I thought was jasmine hairspray last year is now opulent Shalimar dna with beautiful jasmine added. Maybe I’ll keep this one lol
