GUIDE - Formula iR-04 (F4)

Silverstone is such a challenging track in the iRacing Formula iR-04 (F4). Let me help guide you through a fast lap around here.
I used VRS for track state and temperature and the iRacing Silverstone fixed set up.

BTW, what overlays are you using? Just curious. I use a combo of SimHub and Kapps in iRacing.

I use SDK for the lap guides, but in VR I don't have any overlays. I just check the relative after each section as you can see. I find that too much information can be distracting.

Same here. Lucky if I get 4.9! Looking at this, I'm braking too much on the first corners before maggots etc. And I think I'm over steering/scrubbing on the first corner. This will definitely help me out.

I couldn't tell for sure, but at Brooklands are you breaking while turning? Or is that still just straight line breaking but you're just pointed right at the apex if that turn? Thanks for the video, btw. I watched Driver61s detailed lap on this but it was too verbose for me to retain much of it. Tips on Maggots and Becketts are a lot different from what I've been doing, too. I'm excited to try this out.

I just looked back at my data (Its on Garage61 if you want to compare) and at Brooklands I slightly turn into the apex and begin braking exactly at the same time. However, when I briefly hit peak brake pressure I am straight line braking. So its a small turn to initialize the rotation, then I briefly point the wheel straight while threshold braking, then I slowly begin to turn into the apex while slowly lifting off the brake. I hope this helps you find a bit of speed! Yeah these videos could easily be 3 hours long if I were to go through every detail, I try to make it as simple as possible while hitting the key points so that it is as helpful as possible. But thats a really tough balance to find.

how you liking the rift s? i just got mine and its amazing for races its so immersive, but the quality is like 6.5/10 compared to monitor

Well, my Rift S is currently self destructing, not sure how much life it has left 😂. I record my driving about 3 or 4 times a week. And that usually takes me about 20 minutes to set up and usually thinks take a few tries to get working so for me having to mess around with things in VR for 2-3 minutes to get it working is nothing. But yeah compared to regular monitors quality of life is definitely much lower. That being said I have never even considered going back to monitors. I love being immersed in the world I am driving in and for me nothing else compares with that feeling. Even after 3 years I'm still excited by it. I'll have my friends who know nothing about sim racing and don't care about racing try it out and every single time they say to me "I totally get it now." IMO VR evokes an emotional response that monitors simply can't.
