Dude I had one bad week and lost 800. I managed to keep my safety rating going and will be A this next season but it is so deflating to get beat down by other drivers. I'm going to ease my iRating back up and start league racing. Just do my MPRs each season. I would absolutely love to see official iRacing leagues we could join and still receive ratings. My best races have been hosted. Maybe one day lol. The back markers seem to always kick my ass trying to get around them. Sometimes I'll stay back but then it ends up as a train behind me so then you have to get around them or forfeit a position. Hopefully they keep advancing the rules and ratings system.

I hear this. And when you email iRacing support they basically say... there's nothing wrong our end, tough. They don't even acknowledge that it's an error in their software/system. They actually said to me "did you close and reopen the UI?". Seriously! So I'm waiting to hit the join button and they think it's logical that it would even cross my mind to close the very software that's waiting for a ping from the server telling me I can join. What kind of crazy logic is that? They are basically admitting there is fault, but then won't actually acknowledge it straight out. It's a shocking poor example of customer service.

I totally agree with everything. I was down to 2130 at 1st of January, the lowest I've been after coming out from rookies. I changed my approach. I did everything Matt said. Some of them consciously, some not. But in mid March I had 2920 iR. I believe that practice and know your competitors are the two most important factors. During practice, you not only improve your lap times but also learn the weakness of the car and react much much earlier before it snaps or whatever. Read your competitors. See where they are slow, see where they try to divebomb, etc. Half of the times you let a "dirty" racer get past you, you gonna get two freebies in a couple of laps. He's not gonna dnf alone. He's gonna take somebody else out as well. Don't let this be you. Stay safe, reduce your weekly races and practice practice practice!

This happened a ton to me the other day, the worst part was right before an accident I felt like I should slow down in case they wreck...I figured that I was good being a few tenths behind them. But I should have listened to myself, in several of the accidents I realized that I could have done more to prevent it. Some of yours were clearly unavoidable, but as I've learned as a newer racer from reddit and other online groups - sometimes you do have to look at what you could have done, or taken differently to prevent it. Or just don't put yourself in those positions. Sorry for your loss! (I'm not blaming you at all, just hoping to help others).

You can be as careful as you want but some fight to the death even if you want to let them pass with lots of room. Some put the possibility of gaining one position over the fun of everyone around. I did only 1 race yesterday, GT4 at Barcelona and lost 0.92SR after 18x. I got wrecked 3 times when driving in a straight line on the white line 100% predictable and they decide to do rapid lane changes or moving under braking to pass each other and hit me while doing so. When I had 16x I was driving super careful, staying away from people but sometimes just have no chance at all. 2x were my fault for slight off tracks but and the other 4x were from a small bump in the back, I needed to lift because the car ahead was slower at the apex, the car behind didn't, that's ok, can happen but the rest was madness.

Hey man! Love the videos and am learning a lot. I lost about 800 iRating in one week. It was absolutely horrible lol. Just a series of getting slammed all over the tracks. I have an A safety rating again so I'm trying to safely build my iRating back up. I took a month off after that happened lol. I'm still in my first 6 months of iRacing so I'm not too upset. I'm sure it happens to a lot of noobs. Just hitting a stint of repeat bad races. Even on tracks that I am incredibly consistent at. It's not the racing next to people or passing. I've never been reported or even had someone get angry with me. It's those damn back markers that somehow get into my split. I don't get how someone that gets lapped makes into the race. I'm sure they'll refine things more as time goes on. At least I hope they do. I'd rather race my way back up and not "farm" anything though. Anyway, learning a lot and enjoying the videos man! It would definitely be pretty great if there was an official league we could race in and still gain iRating. I have had some amazing races in hosted racing. Just doesn't count for anything

Hi Matt. I ran some races with you in the past. You overtake me in one video (Nurburging in F3 -get my licence back) and i watch some of your videos and i know that you're a good and clean driver. This record is huge because i experience sometimes theses bad races in a row and sometimes i want to scream... Recently, in about 6 races, i lost more than 300 iratings too exactly because of the same kind of bad luck. In the beginning of the Season 2 of 2021, in Road America in FR2.0, i was crashed 6 times in 5 races. And the most frustating is almost nobody apologies about that. I hope for you that you'll have more clean races in the next future. Thanks for the good advices. You're right about the fact of racing the same kind of car. That's the thing i do (open wheels) and it's not working every time but when i know most of the people, it's useful to avoid some problems with some of them.

I fell into a very very low irating when i started racing and got stuck in the lowest splits, because of that i believe i lost around 500 irating in one day because my mentality was all just "1 more race and ill get back into it" or that i "had to win at all costs" which inevitably left me going for stupid moves, being constantly tired and drained when it came to racing and really left me in a low.... then i decided to just have fun and not worry if i win or lose and pretty much instantly i was in higher splits and doing much better for myself.

I lost 500 failing at VRS Sprint at Bathurst. Combination of my fault / unlucky incidents. Now bear in mind my irating at the time was only 1700. Back up to 1900 now aiming for at least 2k this season. Improving my consistency has probably had a greater impact than improving my pace (I’m working on both).

Everyone is free to do whatever you want. But with that irating it feels you went to soon to gt3. After one season pcc with the mx5 I was thinking the same (going to gt3) but then I decided to stay longer in MX-5. Now 3 weeks in my second season with the same car it really starts to feel like I’m knowing the car. Have more fun and skill then ever
@XanderHill1013 жыл бұрын
1900 is nowhere close to the bottom of what people doing GT3 are at. It was a combination of factors including me being stubborn and not walking away. GT3s are not that hard to drive. It just meant I had a week or so of easier races whilst my rating recovered. I don't care about the rating enough for it to matter as long as I get a good race. If I really need to get it back quickly I would run Ferrari fixed for a night or two.
@Maurice-mk5cl3 жыл бұрын
@@XanderHill101 that stubbornness is really recognizable. I sometimes still found myself in bad situations because of stubbornness. And after a bad race I used to had the need to make up for it as fast as possible. Resulting in a even worse race.

I like keep an eye on practice sessions beforehand & see who can’t finish a lap without wrecking or who’s name keeps coming up on the radio/chat for doing bonehead things and if they end up in my race split I definitely keep away from them. Surprisingly, alot of times it’s they guys who set the quick laps that I’ve found to stay away from as a lot of times they’re the ones who put in fast times when they can barely control their cars & keep it on track for a quick lap (which is usually only 1 out of the 15 laps they attempted because they crashed the other 14 times) when they’re around no one but can’t drive for crap when they have to be smooth & controlled around 20 other cars.

So I let him pas easily because he was really faster. 1 lap later he found himself almost tangled up in a crash between the number two and three. So he lost a lot of time avoiding. So I gained three places with one lap to go. :) often you got yourself to blame. Also doing less races on the same day helps. Specially when you had a good one. Stop for that day

I had one of these hit me in my last race. got a 4x for nothing. That guy finished the race in the pit with 16 incidents 🤷🏻♂️ Another thing is, when you have 15 liters left at the end of the race, put your brake balance to the front by two or three clicks. What helps: First observe and learn about the other competitors. Where are they slow, where are they fast? How consistent are they? How aggressive are they? If you know these things you are also able to produce a safer situation. The most stupid and unsafe action is to drive the first lap like it is the last one of the race. Seen so many people behaving like this… this ends a lot not only losing safety but also ending up at the end of the field (at best) and losing tons of irating. Better to have +20 than having -100…. forcing yourself trying to do +100 is not a good mindset.

-415 in a day, i've just accepted that my iR will stay low because im not better than that iR with the way i like to enjoy the game. I could stick to 1 series and grind it out for iR, but thats pointless coz i might be 500 iR more skilled in TCR than i am in a GT3 for example. This is a fantastic video for advice though, I love it.
