Guide from Kuala Lumpur to Hatyai with ETS Train [Travel Vlog 76] 乘坐ETS火车从吉隆坡到合艾的指南

I'm so excited guys, this is my first overseas trip after the pandemic. Since was trying to warm up for a further and longer travels, i had decided to pick Hatyai for this round.
I had tried out many trains in the Europe but had never sat any of out local trains before. So since there will be a train (ETS Train) that could transport us over to Hatyai from Kuala Lumpur, I have taken this opportunity to take the train to Hatyai trip this time.
The train ticket could be purchased online or via their counter in KL Sentral. We had purchase our tickets on its KTMB website. Psst..... senior citizen could get half price for any journey if you register them as the user online and get their profile verified (normally withing 3-5 working days) online and then use the login to purchase tickets or just walk in to their KL Sentral counter and show your Identity Card for verification purposes.
Many had an impression that KTMB's trains were old and slow. But It isn't actually. In this video, I would like share with you how does the ETS train looks like from the inside. The journey took about 5 hours and 35 mins from KL Sentral to Padang Besar.
We actually scheduled the ETS train timing specially for us to catch the Hatyai Shutter Train. Unfortunately the train were not in operation that day because of the railway damage done by 2 consecutive bombing on their cargo's train. Upon exiting the train, we had look to cater a car over to Hatyai instead. We had been given a Thai white card to fill up for our Thai Imigresen clearence later on.
We were being brought by a Malaysian Car from the Padang Besar train station over to the Malaysian Imigresion for customs clearing. After exiting the Malaysian Imigresen, we have been greeted with another Thailand Van to send us over to the Thai Imigresen for another round of custom clearance and with the same van, they had transported us directly over to our hotel.

We did cater a tuktuk to the Seaverse Cafe and Floating Market at 700 bath. there might be cheaper options around. maybe you have to ask around there or your hotel receptionist?

Did you book the train tickets seperately from KL Sentral to Padang Besar and Padang Besar to Hatyai? did you need to book hotel in Padang Besar in advance? Thanks!

Hi, ive booked ets train from kl sental to padang besar only. the local train from padang besar to hatyai can only be brought at the padang besar station unfortunately the day we went the train we closed. so we booked the local car transport to hatyai

Hi Evelyn, yes its from Padang Besar Train Station - Msia Kastam - Thai Kastam - Your Hotel in Hatyai. if wanted to come back i would advise you to book this cater transport togather. more convenient for you to come back. They will pick u up from your hotel back to Padang Besar Train Station

U meant book from this same counter written VIP red banner at Padang Besar KTM, request to book for return from Hatyai hotel to KTM Padang Besar? How about book from hotel or nearby Lee Garden there will be cheaper or more expensive?

@@evelyntingskitchen1936 yes the same van company (not sure issit the red banner one) that you took to hatyai from there (RM 30 per person per trip). we did a mistake for not booking that earlier ended up have to pay 950 bath approx RM 126 to cater from the travel agency nearby to Lee Garden

Hi @@zoerowin2929 the ETS from KL Sentral to Padang Besar starts from RM 102 for 2-way. can check out the price here: online.ktmb.com.my As for the trip from Padang Besar to Hatyai Town (including imigration) is RM 30 for one way. This one can only get it once u exit from the padang besar ETS train. The sellers are everywhere there. Since earlier last month, there were one more train that could go to Hatyai directly. How about return from hatyai to padang besar? Take taxi from hotel to the Thailand Customs?

There will be transportation agency around Hatyai. But i would suggest for you to take back the same Van that you took from Padang Besar to Hatyai. Just let them know your departure date and time and they will make arrangements for you accordingly when you purchase the trip from Padang Besar to Hatyai. Should be the same price. We did a mistake didn't book that when we took the Van from Padang Besar to Hatyai. Ended up need to book from another transportation agency besides a massage parlour near Lee Garden.

oh ive just visited it during the 2023 New Year. I guess basically the warning is because of the hatyai train bombing. we didnt take that train. we had used the van shutter which cost RM 30 per person from padang besar to our hotel in hatyai

i think u might need to check with the ETS counter located at KL Sentral. Mayb you could try to call in first before going there.

hi, yes you can buy in advace throught their KTMB website or Mobile apps. You can also walk into KL Sentral counter to purchase it too

Hi, the Platinum Ticket is RM 108 x 2 way = RM 216. Senior citizen can get half of the price. We brought it online 😊

Is will be more helpful to HIGHLIGHT that it is necessary to get those "shuttle" service (taxi/private car) outside Padang Besar train station to get to Malaysia immigration, then get a van outside Malaysia immigration to take us to Thailand immigration and Hatyai hotel, and the prices.
