Honestly I think the best Wonder Woman for newcomers is Brian Azarello and Cliff Chiangs. Pretty much anyone can read it and enjoy it, especially if you have any sort of interest in Greek Mythology.

I've been reading the Perez Wonder Woman paperback collections recently and am blown away by how much I love the run and the character herself. I never really understood who Wonder Woman was before, but now I'm so on board. Definitely want to check out Rucka's New 52 run. I prefer a thick paperback over an omnibus so need to seek that out. Rucka's work on Lazarus and especially the character of Forever is so nuanced and wonderful. I can see him doing some special work on that Wonder Woman run. Thanks for the video! I don't read as much DC or Marvel compared to other publishers and it's great to get some core recommendations from somebody as well read as yourself!

I just started collecting last month and I went with Kingdom Come, Court of Owls, Aquaman Omni as my first order and will order the GL omnies next. I read Hush, Long Halloween and Dark Victory from the library and Hush wasn't a great book for me. The other two were great reads. I started reading Batman Rebirth and man I couldn't get past the first few pages. I don't understand the hype w All Star Superman. Red Son is pretty good so far and can't wait to read the WW Greg Rucka run. The library is great suggestion to start with as far at what a reader will like.

Personally imo after the I am Bane story King's run dips in quality as it continues until we get to the current issues which imo are bad and not very entertaining but thats just me. But Id still say newbies should check out those first 3 trades aka the 2 hardcovers.

Is the "absolute" part they put in front of various batman comic/arc titles part of a whole 'Absolute' series?

well there's a very big format called Absolutes from DC but they're not necessarily continuations. Most of them are standalone unless they have vol 1,2,3 etc on them. I did a couple of videos on what Absolutes You Must/Must Not Own if you'd like to check it out in my library!

Joey, this is an excellent question ! I think they are both brilliant runs, the two best long running Batman runs in Batman's history. I just happen to like King's more. But I have nothing but praise and love for Scott Snyder!

@@burntdice2810 Morrison's Batman comes before New 52 and features Dick Grayson as Batman and Damian as Robin. Bruce Wayne is missing at this point due to events in Final Crisis. You can read Black Mirror after or during Morrison's run as it is Dick as Batman

Tim sale is color blind, his colorist usually changes from marvel to DC so in some stories the color is on point and others it’s not, this could be why you’re not a fan of his art but hey everyone has their opinions! Superman Birthright is super underrated!

As far as Superman stories, I say get "Kingdom Come" in whatever format you can afford. Alex Ross draws the ultimate Superman, and the book lays out everything that makes him great. 2nd Superman pick - "Superman: American Alien". Great and varied art, and a super approachable story about Clark Kent growing into Superman. 3rd Superman pick: "Superman: Earth One". Best as I can tell, that whole line is a "cinematic" approach to each character. The 3 Superman books are sort of like Man of Steel, if you like that movie or that approach to seeing the start of Superman's career.
