The trail itself does not need too much preparation. Bring a couple of bottles of water and if you go when the weather is warm, bring bug spray. Otherwise, bring the normal beach stuff if you want to hang out by the water.

You are so welcome! We actually managed to visit all the NC state parks in one year, from May 2020 to May 2021. We had to stay close to home due to Covid. We got a nice swag pack from the state because we completed all the parks in one year and collected the stamps. They discontinued that program in 2021, however.
