Might be worth mentioning that if you are on the south coast, like Bournemouth, Brighton, Plymouth etc and have sea face windows, triple glazing helps with the stronger winds from the sea, that inland would not experience

It's all nice and well this talk about triple glazing, which means for most UK homes to have to rip out perfectly fine PVC double frames which last near forever. High quality double glazing performs close to that of triple, but not as expensive (don't forget your triple glazing frames). I'm an absolute insulation / renewables freak, but I'm not getting rid of my existing UPV frames. Just had new set of double glazed windows made in the local glass factory (lucky that it's around the corner) and installed them myself, e coating, argon filled etc. This clip is full of sales talk pushing triple glazing which not everyone necessarily needs.

just because you inadvertently decided for whatever reason to install DG instead of TG, doesen't give you the authority to decide that TG is only a sales pitch! I am replacing my cold draughty DG sash windows with brand new TG fake sash upvc windows which will hopefully keep out the cold ,the draughts and the noise from road traffic, no need to pass negative comments on TG windows which I have only heard good things about.

Hi mirola73, Here are some thoughts: Been mandatory for a while that all replacement / new windows use 'e' coated glass - should be mandatory they are argon gas filled. Almost all uPVC frames have NO foam filling! Next cold snap hire a thermal imaging camera and point it at your home and you will see heat pouring out of plastic frames. WOOD frames have a much higher 'u' value. Know which I would rather have!

If an idiot wants to spend money like £20 grand on triple glazing to save £30 of energy per year from double glazing thats fine from me.
