This is a criminally underrated channel. Keeping it real with no fussy noisy, overdone intros, or fluff. Keep the old ways alive Kevin!

This is the most underrated KZbin channel I’ve ever came across and subscribed to. This channel is like Africa. So abundantly rich in resources and gems of information. All you have to do is pay attention, and you will learn skills and information of sustainability that will leave you with a lifetimes worth of wealth and knowledge that you can pass down to your children through generations.

If anybody is on the fence about taking a guided course from Kevin… do it!! He took our family mushroom foraging last winter and it was one of our favorite things we did. We were able to forage chanterelles in our home town afterwards. It’s a great time and well worth it.

Just a fantastic channel. I miss diving for Abalone so much along the Sea Ranch. For so many years it was a yearly family gathering and feast. We still go, but the trip has evolved to live without it. Your videos renew my hunger for the sea and the other adventures that can be had in seafood. I think I'd really like to take one of your classes.

Thanks for the kind words! I sincerely hope you come out with us sometime soon as dive season in central and northern CA will end soon with the late fall and winter storms. We had 25 ft vis in Monterey this last weekend though. I hear you about the tradition of abalone on the North Coast. Even the absence of the rhythmic tapping of meat mallets on mollusks as folks tenderized their catches in camp is kind of sad. That drumming was just a constant part of camping when I was growing up. But there are still fish, scallops, uni, Dungeness, etc. to dive for and enjoy in camp these days!

What’s the best time of the year there to accomplish both goals. Love the videos brother and can’t wait to get out there. Plus any info on what kind of Dive gear to buy would be greatly appreciated. Peace and Love Nick B, thanks would be greatly appreciated as well brother. Thanks Nick B
@catchncookcalifornia1574 Жыл бұрын
The late fall would be the best chance for both but typically winter is best for mushrooms but not great for diving as the swell is usually higher and river sediments from rainwater are delivered in higher quantity to the sea which decreases visibility. Feel free to reach out with any gear questions! You will love spearfishing and mushroom foraging!

I do guide a lot of spearfishing and undersea hunting in the shallows on the mainland coast from southern CA to NorCal. Those can be great opportunities for new divers to gain experience while learning to harvest wild sustainable seafoods. Many of my clients had little to no dive experience before coming with me. A dive-specific course from a local dive shop can also be a great help.
