Iconic and the best Guiding Light. Miss this part of history. So much better than any of the soaps on the air today.

1979! The Guiding Light was like a Bullet Train with no brakes. What a ride !

RIP Christopher Bernau (2 June 1940 - 14 June 1989). You were a phenomenal actor in every regard.

I remember loving the character Roger Thorpe back in the 70s as a child. My mom starting listening to Guiding Light asa child with her grandmother on the radio in the late 1940s.

This was written by the Dobsons. Marland joined the team in 1980, when all the youngsters popped up at Laurel Falls.

Yeah, when the Guiding Light turned into "The Breakfast Club", and later on "The Springfield Hillbillies" with the Lewises and the Shaynes.

Sadly episodes from 1970-1976 no longer exist. Some from the ‘60s as well. 😔😔

I even love the commercial bumpers at the beginning of GL. It goes to show you the power of advertising. Watching these P&G Sponsored soaps influenced what we bought. Almost every product brought into our house was a P&G product. Damn near everything we bought had that "so-called" satanic symbol on the back of it. From soap, paper towels, bathroom tissue to peanut butter. Hell, even the can of Pringles had the symbol on it. Lol

"You're a Bauer too!" The same words Papa Bauer said to Bert two decades before.

I think that Lenore Kasdorf was pregnant at this time. I see a little baby bump on her.
@mthivier7 жыл бұрын
Yes, she'd definitely have to have been, given that this was late August, and the babies (both Kasdorf's real life baby and Rita's stillborn baby) were born around the following February. The writers tried to play fast and loose with the timeline. Shortly after this, they started shooting her from the shoulders up, and then she went to her mother's house in West Virginia in November, found out she was pregnant, and a month later, returned to Springfield with her stomach out to there.

They are out of order. When did Elizabeth go from being engaged to mike to being engaged to justin? How long were hope and alarm on that island? Hopefully someone can explain😋
@mariellclement80923 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. But I will say that they were on the Island long enough to fall in love with each other.

Poor Rita, she just looks so over it. I agree with Dr. McIntyre. Tell Ed that you are not satisfied. If you don't want to say it to him, hell sing it. Sing it like Mick Jagger.

Elizabeth didn't carry Phillip. Her baby was stillborn. She can no longer have children because I think she was given a Hysterectomy soon after her dead child was born. This is what Alan was threatening to tell her.

The guy playing here Ed had a good body.

And, then he didn’t. I think he was basically fired after he had gained weight. Martin Hulswit had played the role of Ed for a long time (September 24, 1969 to August 28, 1981. He was then replaced by Peter Simon who became even more popular and identified in the role of Ed. I think I could the tale end of Martin Hultswit run but always thought Peter Simon as the defacto Ed Bauer. Of course, older people than me (I’m 58) would probably think otherwise.

If Hope had married Ben, she's an artist/decorator, and he's an portrait artist. Hope knows who Frank Lloyd Wright is. Dumbell Eve would probably think that he invented the airplane with his brother.
