In this video, we dive into shaping our Guiding Principles - these are a short summary of what you value and what gives you purpose and meaning in life. This is the top of the alignment pyramid we've discussed in the Pillars, Pipelines & Vaults system (PPV) - also applies to any effective life system. You must know where to aim if you want any hope of getting to a place that matters to you.

This is great advice! I've been spending a lot of time this past year trying to uncover what my personal values are and your advice is wonderful! I really like that it's based off real life felt experiences. I found using a list of values and choosing what "spoke to me" was too open to self-deception; thus that process never resonated with me. Thank you for sharing so much wisdom and so many strategies to live a meaninful life.

Going through my backlog of valuable videos to watch, I've finally went through all this in depth. I took notes and you are giving such a clear list of of steps to take. At this point in life and age of 62, I realized that there's also a big backlog of things that happened and can be evaluated as feedback loops. The long life experience can both be an advantage and missadvantage, some events left deep traces and downwards feedback loops, never being really resolved. So the review can be a painful and crave lots of courage. Off to finding your other videos in the subject...

August, I've watched this video dozens of times since you posted it, and have been watching your videos and adapting your system for a long time, (inadvertently) in tandem with the process of learning to cope with depression over the past few years. In your other videos and in this one, when you've talked about guiding principles, I've made notes about this or that and it's helped, but trying to figure out who I even am has been a big part of that depression journey. Finally, in the past few weeks I've realized I was at a place where I could start making confident statements and worked through this video again, and now have a set of guiding principles that really resonate with me and don't just "sound good," and it's an awesome place to be. I just wanted to let you know, because you've said you want to have that wide impact, and you're definitely having it. Thank you for your work!

Hi August, I recently discovered Notion about three weeks ago after trying so many platforms from clickup, Monday, and Trello etc. I was looking for a task management system that I could implement into my life and photography business. As a beginner I didn’t fully understand Notions capabilities, so I started searching KZbin for ideas. That’s when I stumbled upon your life operating series. I’ve now completed my first build of the ppv system and it’s an absolute game changer. I had never considered my guiding principles before or really given extensive thought about what I value and how my goals align with these values. I just wanted to say the biggest thank you for all your hard work, knowledge and wisdom. I was only looking for a task manager, and found something way bigger and meaningful, you have set me on a path that truly feels like a life changing moment. If you start a Notion Cult, be sure to let me know! 😂 All the best! Ryan

Hey August. I wanted to jump on to share that I have just went through your entire playlist for Full Notion Learning (all 52 videos!). I did not use Notion prior to watching but have been looking for something to keep me more organized. I run 2 businesses and travel about 50% of the year. I also recently read The 12 Week Year. I had been doing digital planning via Goodnotes for about 2 years but it just became too much and not helpful for when I am away from my ipad or laptop. Managing my goals and projects and scaling to daily tasks has been so great. I have not been able to build out the Vaults areas just yet but I'll get there. I am really excited to make this system work for me and grow with me. I have so many ideas I want to incorporate and have a running list of databases to add and things to make better. Phew. I cannot wait to get better and give my very unstructured life, a bit of structure.

Hi August, so long have I been looking for a productivity framework and Life OS that "just clicks". With PPV I believe I finally found it. Thank you SO much for your amazing work! Truly incredible. I look forward to following your journey and am considering diving into your paid course. As I am in the process of setting PPV up for myself, I have one big question though that I believe is affecting not just me, but a lot of people: How do you handle TWO different workspaces? I'm using Notion for my projects at work (in a company workspace) but also for my personal projects and side-hustles (in my personal workspace). I don't want my co-workers to have access to my entire Life OS of course but I still want to collaborate with them on all work-related projects and action items (and have them use the same system, ideally). If I had to maintain two different PPV systems, I think there would be a lot of double work and complexity involved (duplicate Vaults, bookmarks that are relevant both, for personal projects as well as work-related projects, etc.). Do you have any recommendation on how to set something like this up? Thanks! Joel

Does your Notion set-up follow the Total Leadership model? I haven't found another system like TL which considers stakeholders, expectations, and overlapping accomplishments by area of importance. From what I've seen so far, only your learning folder takes into account overlap. I don't want to be doing tasks that propel only one area of my life at a time when I could be doing 3x or 4x. Thanks for the info.

Any ideas on how to process your "everything" inbox? I come across so many items that don't really fit into my systems, clogging up my catch-all inbox in notion. Would love a video on how to process anything into tasks, projects etc. Do you have a pipeline for things that have no obvious next actions/place to go into?
@augustbradley
@augustbradley Жыл бұрын
One of the big advancements of PPV over GTD is that PPV does not have an "everything inbox" - that is a poor approach because it creates a ton of work to process later (on a daily basis). It's faster, easier, and more effective to capture in the right place within PPV. Actions go into the Action Items DB, Media into the Media Vault, thoughts and ideas into Notes & Ideas, info on Tools & Services into the TSS Vault - that's at leat 95% of everything right there for most people. There is a context for everything, an it resurfaces elsewhere when helpful. I recommend against processing an everything inbox, that is no way to spend your day. Hope that helps!

It is realy hard for me to understand how to build the PPV in notion, even though i watched all of your video about it, it is bearking me not beeing able to build the system. Sadly i am studying so i cannot afford the 1500$ joing. You have any advice how to be able to implemt the system in notion?
@renbotha
@renbotha Жыл бұрын
I built the entire system by simply re-creating what I see on the videos. It might seem daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it it really becomes quite simple although still a quite a bit of work. So literally, just create new pages, databases etc of whatever you see on the screen in the videos and link them together as he's describing. August also does an awesome job of explaining the fundamentals of Notion - so if you're unsure how to create pages and databases, watch those videos first.
