I felt a lot of overwhelm last week and what really helped me get through the mass amount of work coming my way at once was writing them out as actions on my to do list app of choice. Then I worked on each individual one at a pace that worked for me. Even with pacing myself, I managed to clear my whole to do list and go home at the end of the day feeling happy.

My gosh, August, how do you keep living rent free in my thoughts? I hit a wall yesterday afternoon and wasn't looking forward to sorting it out this morning. Then KZbin notifies me of this video. Looking forward to the brain dump. (Which is an ironic metaphor when you really think about it as a lot of it will end up being actions that are really distractions vs. keeping me focused on long-term objectives.)

I'm glad you found it now at least. And I hope you're feeling that you're on a better track. So much of this is all about perspective and we have the ability to shift our perspective with deliberate effort. Keep building the muscle to set the framing on the world that serves you best.

It feels like thank you is not enough. Thank you for everything you are putting out here, it's just invaluable. I have so many areas at work, family that needs my attention, my life partner in another city, trying to start exercise cause I desperately need it for my medical condition, I need to renovate my home, and I've been trying for so long to start get a small art business going. It's all overwhelming. I'm stuck. I've spent a large part of my vacation buildning my PPV Life OS and it's just nearly finished, for now :), and it feels so right. And now this video... I have the giant list. Just starting mapping out tomorrow. Tearful thanks.

Thanks you for sharing this, Jenny. I hear you and have been there too. Focus on the immediate first steps, maintain forward momentum (even if very slow). That is the key, things will progress, evolve and open up for you. Congrats on the progress with your system - put it to good use to make things happen, don't over-tweak. It's a tool and a means to an end, the Notion system is not the end in itself. You are on the right path!

@@augustbradley August, I have now used my system for a few months. So far I have only used the daily reviews, but it has helped me tremendously. Seeing in numbers and text in an organised way what I actually do every day has helped me improved so many things. I have started exersicing, resistance training three times a week, I am eating so much better, rarely drink alcohol, drink almost only water. I know what's the most important task to do at work tomorrow, I follow up on my health values and blodwork and I set actions to improve them. I am seeing my friends more often. Next step is to improve my sleep, I am always restless at night so I fall asleep to late. But I feel confident to improve that aswell. I am also adding some cardio to my fitness plan. There's more improvements but these are some important examples. Today I am doing my first weekly review, stepping up to the next level in the system. It has taken some time but I felt getting control of the basic parameters first was most important: stress, food, health, exersice, sleep etc. This system is really a life saver. I feel I have just really begun the journey and it's a long way to go but I am now slowly on the path to how I want to live my life. I don't really know what to say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My lifesaver has been journaling and writing out how I feel or think about situations/things, including pros and cons lists. I get as detailed as possible and feel the anxiety slip away because I'm externalizing my thoughts and I'm seeing what's actually realistic, what the worst case scenario is, etc. So if I'm overwhelmed, maybe I decide to get little sleep at night and I'm ok with that knowing I will be tired, or maybe I adjust my schedule and fall behind but I have to be ok with that, etc. You're spot on about the trusting the process, mine is for when I'm overwhelmed at the moment. Also one nice luxury I think is if you can make the last day of your week, or perhaps just a few hours of the last day of the week a catch up block where if you fall behind you'll do it then, especially for non-urgent tasks that need to get done. And perhaps you'll say if that's not enough, I'll do it on my day off in the morning if it's an emergency.

Love this video. It has come up at the perfect time while I flounder and end each day disheartened and borderline panicking. My master task db is over 600 items and this is the first time it's felt approachable. I've had a todo list for over 15 years and its shadow has hung over me ever since. I'm almost certain that it has affected my life negatively ever since. ADHD combined with that list hasn't helped. Well, that ends today. Future feature request: August reviews viewer's Notion set-ups! 😉

Stick with the process of mapping your next steps, progressing slowly and steadily. As long as you keep forward momentum in an intentional direction, you will improve and regain your center. Things will speed up later, for now just make steady progress in the right direction.

Less is more. I use to be overwhelmed by a long to do list. Sometimes I didn't even realized I was overwhelmed. As a result, there were always things left undone at the end of the day. Recently, I made the list into something more manageable. Just set the number of to do items to be around 5 each day. By having a small to do list, I also take things more seriously. I feel the motivation to zero the action items. turned out, I get more momentum in getting things done and have more confidence in achieving my goals.

You have such calming and confident presentation in this video, all of a sudden my (actually very current) overwhelm feels less majestic. I'm a "note taker, idea horder, organizing to death" guy before it gets started with. Luckily in most of client projects I have a living person to keep me accountable (with the help of concrete deadlines that mean even more concrete payment to me), but when it comes to the YT channel - I'm in the exact phase you're talking about. I sorted out everything but the real _Start_ . I even gave it a 6 months preparation by executing 27 livestreams in order to become more relaxed in front of the camera, get the 100% grip of the tech and workflow needed. All is set now, I only need to make myself start, simply start. Record a single first video and don't bother if it isn't perfect, without too much editing tricks, b-rolls, just-do-it. I know I'll laugh at all this later on, but right now it's just a feeling of overwhelm by everything. So good you made this video ..now.
@augustbradley

Beautifully stated and summarized (and great to hear from you!). I agree with everything you expressed here. I too have backed off the B-roll and motion graphics too to simplify and get back to consistency. You clearly know what to do and what mattes most, all that's left is to do it. So DO IT! You got this.

Awesome August … If I could kindly suggest a mind map (see Shen Huang’v KZbin). Plus with ‘too many goals’ then give priority issues a ‘two week sprint’ (or maybe less). I also use Robin Sharma’s ‘90/90/1’ methodology (90 minute work time), but if I could suggest doing 25 minute Pomodoro’s within the ‘90/90/1’. Then, consider having more 90 minute sessions. Just some ideas. Thank you

I need a master list of goals. I've been part of PPV and NLD since you first introduced it. It has changed my live. I've lost focus. Is there a place to enter all those future goals? I envision a board where I can move them from Someday to Next 5 years, to this year, to NOW. Is that already in PPV?
