Follow me on a short but busy flight from Danbury (KDXR) to LaGuardia (KLGA) in a King Air B100. The procedures in the cockpit are explained. ATC is recorded live.
Enjoy!

Guido, I am a King Air SIM Instructor at FlyRight. My single pilot experience was in A-7DII Corsairs and general aviation in quite a few Beech Aircraft's. Just retired from American Airlines. Your handling of this flight, your cockpit management, checklist procedures, situational awareness, attention to details and judgment was and is excellent. Learned a few things from this flight, thanks. Safe flying!!

Awesome, it's always nice when professional pilots post videos like this. Gives people a good idea of what flying is actually like. Far better than the "training" videos posted all over KZbin. Take note student pilots, this is how it's done.

Thank you very much, Alex. There are a lot of videos on KZbin, and many with much better sound and video effects than my videos. i try to keep it simple and focused on the flying. I am flying a Citation Jet over the Atlantic from the USA to Estonia, so there will be hopefully plenty of interesting videos coming out from that flight... Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido

Runway 22 is the best approach to NYC on a very clear day when arriving from the West or points South. They ride along the eastern perimeter of Staten Island, up the mouth of the Bay and Hudson River offering a great view of most of New York and the best perspective of the downtown cluster and midtown skyscrapers before banking over lower Westchester County or The Bronx. That low altitude over the East River as it meets The Sound can be quite scary for people not familiar with NYLGA approach. Only 7,000 feet per runway. Not a lot of run! And that's with the extension you see compared to the 1930's through the 1960's before they elongated it.

Hey Guido, Found your vids tonight and wanna say thanks, they're a really great look at flying the King Air! I'm just finishing up my instrument rating after 600 hours of pipeline and excited to join the IFR world in the (hopefully) near future. I find myself constantly talking myself thru checklists while flying single pilot and it's cool to see guys doing it at a higher level than a simple C172. I like how you stop yourself from becoming distracted during taxi, I find I do get ahead of myself occasionally while doing a simple taxi I've done hundreds of times. Gotta focus on just slowing it down and hitting the rhythm. This was a great learning experience, and I caught myself saying "check 3 green" right before you called it out haha! Thx for the great vids and fly safe.
@GuidoWarnecke

Guido, how are you? I've had a talk with one of the crew member I flight with. He said something that I need to verify; and knowing that you are a skilled pilot, I would like to ask you a question based on this scenario: I am flying towards the airport, in a IFR flight plan. upon reaching the class C airspace the controller starts giving me vectors to the ILS approach. On both NAV1 and NAV2, I have the VOR frequency with the Final approach course on my HSI. When is the exact moment when I am suppose to change from the VOR Frequency to the ILS Frequency?
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 10 жыл бұрын
Jose Sosa Hello Jose, The moment you get radar vectors you are released from you previous route. This is the point where I would switch both NAV receivers to the ILS frequency. This gives you also the time to verify and identify the correct frequency and to set the inbound course of the LLZ on the HSI. If you have loaded an approach in a GPS (for example Garmin 430), this would also be the time to "activate" the approach. The more you are ahead of the airplane, the better. Happy Landings, Guido

Thank you, Stephen. Single pilot flying is easy as long as you have a well organized cockpit and prioritize your tasks. Trying to do all at the same time calls for trouble. And use automation as much as possible especially in a fast and powerful aicraft like the Phenom 300. Happy Landings, Guido

Thank you very much, Bill! Best of luck for your multi-engine rating and whatever might come after that. Be aware that twin engine aircraft are not necessarily safer than single engines. Thank you very much, Calum! Very good question: the B100 has single shaft Garrett engines as opposed to the free turbine PT6 engines that all other King Air have. What does that mean for the start? On this Garrett engine, all components (propeller, compressor, turbine) are rotating on the same shaft. If the propellers would be in feather like on the PT6 the resistance would be too great. This is why we start Garretts in flat pitch and this is also how you recognize them on the ramp.

Guido is not speaking to the importance of taxiing with your head up and being alert when crossing active runways just to mention them. It is absolutely critical to be on high alert when on the ground, ESPECIALLY if you're in a small aircraft. Thanks for posting your incredibly informative videos. They are as much educational as they are for our enjoyment. For me anyway, your videos are a wonderful reminder of attention to detail and forward planning (such as familiarization with the ground operations at an unfamiliar destination). The original King Air 100 had P&W engines. In the early 80's P&W was on strike. Beechcraft had the airframes ready out of productions but no engines. So management decided to install some of them with Garrett engines (around 200 units). Later the B100 was replaced with the B200. Happy Landings, Guido

I have completed all my theoretical studies for my ATPL and am about to start my IR and ME ratings. I must say your videos are extremely well made, very enjoyable and last but not least very informative. Keep up the good job.

Excellent videos, Guido. I've been flying for about a year and a half and have yet to come across your kind of professionalism. Thanks for introducing me to IFR!

Thank you very much, Nick! IFR is perceived widely as "too difficult". I have to admit when I started my IFR training it was the same for me. Once you start using IFR it suddenly all makes sense and it is a so much safer flying. If the videos bring across this message - mission accomplished. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido Merry Christmas to you and your family.

On the ProLine21 the center screen MFD should stay on during start. You need it to see the engine gauges. Avionics off for start, I flew a B200 PrLine21 N351CB for a year, nice aircraft. Happy Landings, Guido

Nice Kingair video. The instruments have been upgraded, and they are touch screens. Now I am only a private pilot who is working on the instrument ratings. Hope I can fly one of those somedays. Nice Landing, Captain.

Thank you for "flying with me", Luis! I am just a very well trained, very disciplined pilot. Nothing more, nothing less... It is long process to become a senior, safe pilot. It requires a lot of discipline and sometimes a stubborn character to follow you own ideas and principles. What I try is to share my own experience and all the faults and mistakes with my fellow, junior pilots. I can only hope they do better than me! Thank you very much for watching my videos! Happy landings,Guido

+Guido Warnecke Oh Okay thanks for your response I love airplanes I have been trying to find a pilot that could help another pilot who almost list his arm in a car wreck and needs help getting to a hospital that would fix him up so he could fly again! So I began watching flight Videos and I liked your videos the best because you are a professional pilot and the other videos are all amateurs! The Pilot's name is Jaime Martinez and he use to fly out to the islands off Honduras! He lives in San Pedro Sula. Again thanks for your time and consideration with the message! kindest regards and Happy Landings, Manny.

This would be correct in a PT6 equipped King Air. The B100 is equiped with Garrett engines. These have an automated start sequence, fuel is introduced at a certain N1. Like on an APU where you just "hit the button". Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido
