Nicely done review! Nice playing too in between. Many times people doing these reviews just hit a few barre chords and strum a bit. It does help the review when people can actually play, so nice going. :) Have you played one of the more expensive ones to compare? The made in Korea one likes the Starfire V. I've been wondering which one to go for. Despite price difference, they also have different features and I wish some of the features from one was on the other too. Have you had the chance to compare them? Are the holes of the old tuners visible after the upgrade?

Thanks - appreciate it! I actually haven’t tried any of the higher end Guilds…I usually opt for a used MIJ Gretsch when getting up to that price range.

@@EJBGuitar Makes sense. Did the new tuners covered the old tuners holes? This is something I would have to do as well. replace the tuners with some Grovers or Gotoh.

Thanks Eric I am trading purple passion SG muse for that color. Since the late 60s I've listed after the Starfire but went with Fenders. Now I dig my Guild acoustic as it has been the best sound for over 40 years even better than my Taylor

Bridge is 3mm on low e side, and just under 3mm on the high e side. Neck is 4mm on both the low e side and the high e side. Measured from the “raised bar” side of the pickups opposite of the screws to the bottom of the strings.

How is the action on it. Close or just ok? I've gone to several stores and no one has a guild starfire 1 or 5 or 6. I'd like to play one, Thinking about buying one

Honestly I don’t remember what the action was like back when I got it…I do a set up on every guitar so the action is fine now. I don’t remember there being anything out of the ordinary keeping it from being set up nice though. Action is a personal thing…one persons low might be too low for someone else, etc. Is there a reason you wouldn’t do your own set up?

Thanks! It’s not the greatest if you wanna be “shreddin up high” but I don’t find it any better or worse than most of my semi-hollows, except the Harmony Comet…that one is very tight!
