This is one of the greatest side-by-side guitar tone comparison videos I've ever seen on KZbin. Nice job!

The DC had a rounder, jazzier tone BUT the SC really shined when you added Gain to the mix. The SC was definitely more articulate. Great Comparison - THANKS!!

Excellent demo. Strictly tones. My vote is for the livelier sounding DC.

I dig the mellow tones from the single cut away. Both sound wonderful.

Assuming the settings are the same it's amazing how different they sound. I prefer the DC, and doesn't it look good in cherry?
@heinoherrlich32633 жыл бұрын
They are constructed differently. And as on the Guild website stated the SC is some mm thicker and does have a center block that is under the bridge only (bridge block). The center block in the DC version is a going through block. So the SC just resonates much more. And i think the Bigsby does something with the sound as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/raacfoiOZd1pnsU

Yes I noticing the same! The sound is very different! The different position of the humbucker on the body is generating a totally different sound. The sc have just 18 frets so the neck humbucker is more in the high position respect of the dc version. The bridge humbucker on the sc is very far away from the bridge. Sincerly after watching this video I prefer the sound of the dc version. But both guitars are nice.. I think the starfire sc without bigsby maybe sound different too...

DC is 22-fret, joined at the body on the 18th fret, I think; center block runs the length of the body. SC is 20-fret, joined at the 16th; only block inside in right under the bridge & tailpiece (just like PRS); so it's basically a hollow body. Personally I prefer the SC w/o the Bigsby.

Nice video. But if there is no talking, how is this a review? It's not. It's a showcase. ;)

Guild or Gretsch ? When I compare the sound to the G2622T Gretsch seems to be too harsh and screechy...Guild seems to sound much more fuller and mellow.

Anyone compared guild starfire with Ibanez As73?
@jann_rygh2 жыл бұрын
depends on the Pickup Version of the Gretsch. The 2622T comes with P90 or HH - The HH Version Sounds squeeky/Tele to me and the P90 has low Output + brutal Noise because the P90s are new P90s with more Treble and Presence, so HiGain is a Problem. I'm in the same Decision Boat bit I think I will try the Guild first - The Sound is so clear in most Clips - Gretsch is has some kind of jazzy or twangy Character

did a little Tonecheck with the Starfire - love the tone but the Setup was horrible to do and the Intonation on EAD was Impossible. Too bad, loved the Sound!
@badscrew40232 жыл бұрын
Wow, are the pickups the same - they must be right? Because the sound is completely different on the "September", the SC has the Gretsch quality to it, very chimy top end like if these were Filtertrons!

Really poor comparison. He's paying closer to the neck pickup on the DC, which changes the tone completely.
