If you look at the homestead screenshot on the blogpost, we can also see what looks like a stable next to the house. How amazing would it be to have our mounts just chilling there, showing off their skins while we're home ? I think that would be the perfect place to do so and it would be a really cool feature!

I'm hoping for bookshelves. I have a character whose entire inventory is just books I've collected in various quests, locations or used in creating legendaries. It would be cool to have shelves to store them, plus a trash can for the Snargle books. More seriously, it would be nice to have an Asura gate that can take us to major cities, the Mists, WvW maps, the PvP lobbies, etc. Finally, a trinket that can take us to our homestead, then back to the map we were on.

I'm honestly hoping it's good, but looking at anet's track record, it seems very copypasta, just a reiteration of the home instance that will be forgotten by the next expac. A chance for NEW NODES I am hoping for, but since we haven't gotten any since ls4..eeeehhh. also showing off the fact that the place got seemingly upgraded and not changed around in any real way is a bit disheartening. Hopefully I am proven wrong and this thing kicks ass.

Regarding the new PvP mode, Grouch was in chat on some streams saying they were aware of what happened to Stronghold and the idea of releasing it as a beta first was specifically to prevent it from becoming Stronghold 2.0. I guess time will tell if it works.

This might be a little farfetched but I think this expansion might involve a piece of lore mentioned in Bolt's description: "Interwoven with an impression of a dragon whose name Tyria has yet to learn, Bolt is imbued with the strength of a storm-swelling inside like a thunderous inferno, eager to aid its wielder in combat." Previously, you would assume that the dragon in question was Soo-Won, but it never made sense to me that she was depicted on a *lightning* sword when Kralk has been more closely associated with lightning and storms. However, the prepurchase bonuses for the expac seem to hint at the involvement of serpentine dragons, and I think they could be related to the strange storm mentioned in the trailer. Would love to hear your thoughts on the possibility!

Why is nobody discussing that the charr in the trailer is Ash Legion Imperator, Malice Swordshadow? Everyone is noticing Anise, who featured in a small hint during SOTO epilogue chapter, but what is Malice doing there at all?? Are we going to meet her at Drizzlewood to go forward to Janthir delta? I wonder what the new PvP mode is going to be. Is it going to be small-scale battles like 10-man squads? or is it going to be just duels, 1v1? Will you be able to unlock new scribe recipies for the homestead or will it be all vendor purchases? In the screenshot I see 6 garden plots when right now we can have 3. Is it going to be used for all the plant gathering nodes we've unlocked for our HI so far or are we getting more garden plots for our own gardening efforts?

I doubt we'll meet her in Drizzlewood. That requires IBS and would be locked out by players who never bought it. More than likely we'll meet everyone in either the new area or in a base game location like a capital.

What I'm thinking is that Malice is going to be the Charr's representative to this Tyrian Alliance. Mayyyyybe (hopium as a charr main) she'll be installed as Khan-ur, or in the same vein as Anise is Jenna's field rep. Malice would be Crecia's if they put her as Khan-ur, but I have serious questions about that as she's both got flame heritage and she's newly imperator. Iron has the same problem, flame is still gaining good graces, so Malice makes the most sense if you are looking for a Charr leader, whether or not they touch the Khan-ur plot again, who knows.

A lot of players agree the tower is a great hub and shouldnt be replaced every expansion. I love the idea of cutscenes/discussuons happening inside our homesteads. In the spud chat we were discussing adding player affinity features and one of them would be having them visit your homestead at a high level

Honestly, even if it is just like Guild Hall decorating, sign me up. How many of us players ever got into decorating a guild hall? I don't know any guild that allows anyone to decorate, and getting a guild hall for yourself so you can do it is quite prohibitive, not only financially but also socially. I'm hyped even if they don't change a thing about the decoration system :P

The expansion buy/overview page (not on the blog) has a ton more screenshots and mostly the same info though phrased a bit differently (tho they do mention Janthir-themed Convergences and that the raid will get both regular CM and "legendary CM"). Various articles by gaming news websites also confirm stuff like Titan involvment and warclaws getting double jump etc. so probably worth looking through some of those.

For the story, the official purchase page for Janthir Wilds has a screenshot which I think is this new Tyria alliance, with Isgarren in the middle and other leaders in the background. So first Queen Jenna and Countess Anise are there, and judging from Anise's dialogue in the trailer, I think the story will start with this meeting of the new Tyria alliance, and Isgarren will point us to the Janthir Wilds for some reason. My guess is that some otherworldly activities have been detected in that area, possibly related to the Titans and the Eye of Janthir since it appeared in the lastest story patch. To back this theory up, there's an event in Amnytas that mentions non-Kryptis activity near Janthir happening recently. The screenshot also shows several other leaders. There's Ludo from the arcane council, a tengu (I think it's Ayumi from EoD?) and Skarti (the eldest son of Knut). In particular we see Braham behind Skarti, which have me thinking about what role the norn will play in this expac. Maybe this expac will talk about the connection between Kodan and Norn, or maybe they just put Braham in to catch up with us or something :P From a book in SotO we know that between 1000 and 1100 AE, Mabon went to the Isle of Janthir to set up a ward for reasons only known to the Court. Maybe it's because that Janthir is a place where the veil between Tyria and the Mist is particularly thin like Bastion of the Penitent. The same book also suggests that the Titan comes from outside the Veil (which is true since in Gw1 they came from FoFC in DoA), so maybe the Titans are evading Tyria from Janthir. Beyond these, I'm definitely expecting to see more Waiting Sorrow story explained. Though this may be against the self-contained nature of mini-expac, they just put in a fractal about the Wizard's Tower that any new player getting into fractals will understand nothing about. So maybe caution has been thrown and they can talk about past expacs in side quests freely. AND, I want to see more Bastion of the Penitent link in this expac due to its tie to the Eye of Janthir and Mursaat. I was expecting to be able to explore the Mursaat city mentioned in Saul's story, but then I realized that the city was probably in the Woodland Cascade rather than Janthir :P Anyway, more on the mystery of why time seemed to have stopped in Bastion of the Penitent and what role the Eye played there will definitely be interesting. Sorry for the wall of text :P I always get excited when talking about lore and story. SotO opened with some cool worldbuilding stuff but ended poorly, let's hope it gets better this time!

I looked at the screenshot for quite a while yesterday thinking where it could be, I guess it's because I seldomly engage in guild content :P Well that's quite good considering the Guild Initiative HQ in LA was only used for guild hall capturing and a little guild leveling before. They can now make it the new HQ of this Tyria alliance and make use of that place. Maybe they can also expand on the Guild Initiative and link it to our new homestead like how they linked it to guild halls perhaps? Also I expect Dougal Keane to be at the meeting if it takes place in the HQ :P After Ember appeared in Icebrood Saga, I want them to make more use of these novel characters.

i think this post earned a lot of good will after soto since they are actually learning from their mistakes. Soto launch didn't have a new combat feature but this time the new weapon is going to be available on launch. The strikes difficulties were all over the place and open world metas were bad in soto. So them making a 50 man open world raid in place of 1/3 of a map and having that raid have 4 difficulties level (50,10,CM,LM)is such a great way to solve both of those issues while giving them time to work on the 3rd map. The new pvp update was unexpected but it really sells their goal of wanting to give all game modes love and with Grouch personally saying that it wouldn't be like conquest, i have some hope that they will actually take feedback this time around but we will have to see.

The logo represents a spear head made from stone, I don't think there will be that much on the mursaats (just references) since they talk about old mursaat ruins and the charr was asking about them, but I do think that the titans are a very plausible main threat for this expac (even more since the mursaats are extinct like you said)

The Mursaats are definitely there, most likely the outer Mursaats, as the minotaur golems look like Mursaat-style golems with a fiery core that they most likely got from a partnership with a Titan, hence Malice going, "False god."

One thing they did reasonably well with SotO, having legendary armor to work towards, is that we knew ~90% of the requirements for crafting the armor before the armor actually released, and it gave a lot of reasons for us to engage with the systems long term e.g. doing metas daily, farming kryptis essences to excess, etc. I hope they are similarly open about the requirements for the spear and/or backpack (whatever that ends up being), it will add a lot of replay value to basically any content that's implicated.

I don't even need like, amazing housing. I played Wildstar and I know the GW2 engine can't handle that, but an easier way to get/place/move furniture pieces would go a long way. Even a janky "you can do whatever" City of Heroes-esque setup would be fine.

Slightly hoping the new pvp mode will be like the asymmetrical attack/ def battles from early gw1. I liked being on the team attacking a fortification or on one defending with each having a different goal to victory.

Yeah I see the PvP Mode thing more as a signal from ANet that they want to do something with PvP. It really depends on whether they actually commit to it or not.

I think 1v1s or 2v2s could be an interesting idea. With home instances coming, it could be a cool idea for just like a fight me 1v1 pvp map. You could make it a pvp 2v2 gamemode that has a queue in the mists, but anyone (with xpac) could just spawn a pvp instance anywhere with a party invite.

If you notice in the trailer, you can actually see what seems like some sort of 'portable' wizards vault stronghold or small hub that has chains tethering it to the new area (and perhaps it just looked small from afar but I guess it could actually be THE tower 🤔) But yes, there is something there you can see in the trailer. I'm really hoping for homesteads, they have more ways to get furniture besides a profession to craft them. Like some of the assets used to make the dungeons (crucible of eternity tables / props, etc) from a new vendor beside the dungeon vendor, using dungeon delving currency to purchase them. (could be an asura fascinated with furniture, using their asuran 3d printer or something lol) Same for Raids, maybe even pvp/wvw items to make your home more homey for all the styles of play gw2 has to offer. (Specially cultural furniture, so you can make your home more charr themed, full on norn themed, etc~) Edit: Off Topic, but Imagine a guild hall set in the mists, kinda like the mistlock sanctuary, or one set underwater, whenever they do something with that mechanic lol

My main take away, particuarly with how the kodan seem to be a heavy focus (i love the kodan i love them so much) is i cant help but lament again how anet just can not or will not add a playable race ever no matter how many ways there are to make it work. A playable races added with one of these mini expacs would help a LOT with selling these mini expacs.

Imo they should expand new features like housing to the f2p core experience. Small houses people grind for / purchase. And then new houses in mini expacs. They really need incentives for people to engage with reward mechanics.

I really hope we get multiple kinds of housing in future, as a roleplayer i hope we aren't just stuck with one house for all character's we talked about it and how housing is such a massive thing in ff14 and eso, arena net would lose a massive opportunity if they just only release the one house in the game span. imagine if they did smaller ones for specific races types. A human house. Asuran lab Charr warband camp Norn Lodge Sylvari tree woven house Hell can even do some for the expansions. HoT = A pact airship that crashed and is repurposed into a house. Pof= A elonian oasis camp or noble district Eod = A tengu tree house. id be happy to even buy some of these with gems, i hope arena net considers this, about time role-players got some love.

about the Kodan being in the Janthir area, I think they're reusing some of the IBS content that had already (at least in part) been realized before they shifted development. Remember the IBS trailer with some Kodan cutscenes? there was one where they were sending their fallen away on those floating pyres to the sea, so likely the next IBS map would've been right around these corners - and yes, it also works as a hook for Waiting Sorrow.

My hope is that the Warclaw has a wall grab like the Skyscale and can pounce up walls. I also pray that the next expansion does the fourth elite specialization giving all professions a new weapon. I think I'd be fine with not receiving any new weapons or elite specializations after that, and ANet could put more focus on creating new stories, adding new features, and wrapping up any loose ends that they started.

It looks like there is a fishing node in the pond near the homestead. Excited to see how they manage to make the spear feel different for all 9 professions. Already confirmed that some will be ranged and some melee. Also saw a dev comment that scribing wont be used for decorating, it will be a new crafting discipline.

I am sure the Homestead will take all the existing functions of the Home instance for those that buy Janthir Wilds. While the base game will continue support of the home instance. So all our nodes and maybe even npcs might cone along. It says cultivate so I am sure daily gathering will be a big part of the Homestead.

I am very excited for land spears. Spears are one of my favorite weapons in any RPG and the animation for the attack that looks like a ranger ability is sick. I am impressed with the content layout for this announcement. I am a little skeptical as far as the scope of the player housing that they plan on implementing, but overall still very impressed. One thing I would like you to comment more on are the enemies that we get to briefly see in this trailer. I don’t know if they have ever been seen before maybe in Guild wars one, but I honestly wasn’t too excited by their aesthetics. Maybe you can shed some light on these and if they have any significant lore.

legendary backpack. 1 slot bag. when you ad an item to that slot. you get another slot ie infinite slots. they’d have to make it the hardest legendary to craft as well with s full on story of it’s own like chuka

On the prepurchase page there is more info regarding raids it will get a normal mode -> cm -> legendary mode i do really hope the cm will be more fleshed out though then with Cerus, i did expect cerus cm to be a propper middle mode you can pug for the players that just want to do their weekly cm's fingers crossed!
