Gigantic world, nearly unlimited stuff to do, fun and fast paced gameplay with very decently balanced, distinctive and interesting classes, most alive open world/MMO experience ever created, the fairest monetization of any MMO - terrible marketing. It could be so much bigger if people only knew about it.

It's a different marketing strategy one of the best things of GW2 is the community and word of mouth is a marketing strategy that allows them too build on that community.

Small repetitive zone, many repetitive tasks to complete, terrible tab target that tries to blend action combat and fails at both, terrible class balance maybe the worst out there, distinct interesting classes ill give you, Anet abuses time tested gambling methodologies for player retention and all of the greasiest tactics to force you into the cash shop. "Terrible class balance" -> literally every class and espec are good in their niche. You just need to learn how to play. And if gw2 fails at tab and action and still has a better gameplay than wow, bdo, eso and others, how could be a successful gameplay?

My first encounter with MMO was with WoW in nearly 2004. I played until Pandaria and a little bit more, but I was sick of the huge amount of daylies. My Work and privatlife didn't gave me that much time to play it. One day, a old friend showed me Gw2 in 2014 i think. Battle of Lion Arch was then and I didn't understood nothing... Close before PoF came out an other friend showed me GW2 too! I know, I have an ACC and I met HoT and then PoF. We played until he stopped and I was stuck in a Living World Map that I felt weak without my friend. I was with a wrong or bad Build... Again, in 2020, another friend (Yes I got a lot), talked about GW2, he explained everything and I found out, what was wrong with my char. I came in, build it new, created a few new characters, learned so much from the game, watched Videos and Streams and now, I am happy about that game, wanna keep it for much longer and I like, that I never need to farm new stuff to be strong like the others, don't need to search other players to refarming old maps - NO! There are Gamers, worlds never die and your character is getting dusty, but he is still strong! If you don't understand the game, ASK on /map or in your Guild, everyone can answer and helps you in a lot of things! Keep this Game alive - It's one of the most beautiful games ever

best game ever. have played since start, still play everyday, sometimes just doing dailys, sometimes whole day, still have plenty of things to do and collect, the world is massive and combat is best what have tried, lots of different build and gameplay styles to choose and build your own class as you like. and love of god take that doubletap to evade off and bind it somewhere like mouse thumb much more easyer to control

The big MMO's ive played over the years are WoW, ESO, and Guild Wars 2. Of the big 3, Guild Wars 2 has gotten the least playtime from me and after coming back 10 years later, I'm sour that I didn't stick with it!! I'm fairly certain that no other MMO out there values your time and your wallet the same as this one does. 10/10 for what you'd expect from MMO's in 2023!

One of my favorite things about GW2 that I don't believe you mentioned is gear progression in the game. I love that top tier equipment introduced years ago is still top tier equipment today so you're not having to constantly farm for new gear as devs introduce more and more power creep with each expansion. I've played this for just over 10 years on and off, never felt the need to deep-dive into anything like theory crafting or understanding the different armour stats. You don't need to at all, you can just push buttons and things die for 10 years like I did, or you can dive super deep into it if you like. Made some good friends in that game from around the world that I've met IRL a few times too.

great game. the worst part about it is clarity and clutter. you never know whats going on when theres more than 5 people spamming their skills and your inventory will be filled with random trophies and materials, unsure what theyre for and or if youre safe to delete them. takes a while getting used to for sure.

I agree inventory and item bloat is one of the worst things about this game. I don't need to open a loot bag to find 3 more loot bags each with their own loot bags inside them! And so much clutter! Combat, exploration/scenery, unique lore, and fashion wars are epic though.

12:30 - it needs DX12 and better optimisation - this is a remastered engine that was used in Guild Wars 1 (GW1 engine didn't allow for jumping either lol). Arenanet are talented but just need investment, the game is 11 years old now :(

I love GW2! A note: XP can be argued to be even more relevant after 80 and maxing masteries. You get spirit shards, which are essential for crafting legendary items and using the Mystic Forge (aka mystic toilet).

Action camera is underrated. For all those players who complain how the game tries to walk the line between action and tab-target combat, the action camera simplifies it and makes it an ARPG. Hell, you can even use a controller with the action camera if you want.

dont see many explicitly mention this but you also get level experience when crafting which I havent seen in any other game. So if you level up all crafting professions (you can switch them out on a single character but only have 2 active) you can hit lvl 80 without slaying a single monster. You gotta have a a benefactor though for the crafting material xD or avoid getting aggro when out gathering :P

Is very simple they might be some but nobody is gonna watch GW2 RFW it lacks the energy and the raids are made for dummies. Is not a pop game like WoW and is never gonna be simple bcs is not that good. Is good to waste time for sure but not to be comp player. And also i think the majority of the player base is women that's for one and second why they don['t charge sub for it or the exp are so cheap cuz nobody woudve played it if only there was a sub.

I agree on everithing wot you say in this video. BUT, my exp. with mmorpg is fairlly limited(woching and speaking with junger brother playing) so this is my werry personal exp. I just looove allmoust all aspekts of GW2 world and gameplay[ i SUCK in PvP]. I love novels, fantasy and adventure books and movies, and comic strips; so i find this game like living/playing comic fantasy hero world, alone or with adere people. Its so ameizing on so many levels, beautifuly crrated world, characters, natural fluid movement, and same fluid nafural combat allmoust like in fps games. So fror somebody like me its my only game that i enjoy werry much playing and still learning skills and all about it after allmoust 5 years of casual playing. From that 2 years free-to-play with just 1 character, my mein Norn Ranger. So top and best game, i dont wont to try any adere game.🔝🔝🔝🍭🔝🔝🔝

Unlike Wow, this game doesn't hold your hand besides maybe the story telling you where to go. It's a go do what you want game. The newer expansions (past the base game) have so much more to do than the base game. In my opinion, the best expansion is Path of Fire where the game starts to shine in it's story, zone, mounts, then maybe Heart of Thorns, though that map can be a nightmare to navigate.

I find playing any game, and specially a MMORPG, is more fun when you play it with friends, or family, or you make an attempt to find new friends in the game. This can be very true for some players of GW2, as the game is so massive now, it's easy to get lost and not know what to do next.

GW2's issue is inventory management and loot boxes They throw loot at you in the endless amounts, leading you to spend over half of your play time managing your inventory or bank space, after you've bought all the bag spaces available that is (which costs gems, or real money). They continue to throw useless loot at you throughout the entire game then, and you may occasionally receive something worthwhile... I do love the game, not as much as I did the OG GW, but I find this design flaw so un-immersive, coupled with the fact anything worth doing requires you to research the wiki, as the in game 'clues' leave you wondering around for hours to find the solution... the achievements really need reworking to help with this, constantly tabbing out to find out what the eff you're meant to be doing is not good for gameplay :( I'm hoping AoC can bring back that 'MMO' feeling, without the clear gimmicks designed to get some additional $$$ (I wouldn't mind so much, if they didn't throw endless loot at you to make you feel like you have to get the bigger bags, and then spend all that time managing them...) feels like work :(

EverQuest is still #1. There is no script, no storyline but Lore. The game and your gear or quests are up to you to find. The crafting is still above most, AA alternate exp is amazing and specific. Nothing has yet to touch that game, but simply come after it, yet still not get there. You can't knock the game for graphics because of it's age. 😃

Not even close, the community is toxic as hell. Try completing a map and watch a large group fly in swoop down kill everything leaving you, the lone player trying to level, to wait 10 min or longer for respawns. Don't say anything to them or you will be called names and humiliated in ways you never imagined. GW2 is a solo player game so don't expect help. Guilds - yeah you can be in 5 but no one talks or helps out. If you don't know how to play good luck, oh they give you the "use Wiki" crap line but yeah it does not help. You are plopped into a huge sandbox open world and told good luck. The worst part of the game is the community. However, if you don't mind keeping to yourself, solo play for hours on end doing mindless things, the game can be fun. Just don't expect guilds that help out, guilds that are social, and don't expect the enjoy the raids, dungeons or fractals. There is NO trinity so at any moment you could be dps, tank or healer in one with no notice, you can't tell the difference between your spell effects or the boss/mobs so good luck. It is pure and utter chaos that makes no sense. The game is cluttered combat and a mess. GW2 the best ? Not even close.

I've been playing this game for about 4 years now and a lot of what you described is the exact opposite of my experience. First and foremost, the GW2 community is one of the least toxic communities I've ever played in. Sure, you may have some bad moments. There will always be some jerks in any crowd. But overall I'd say it's one of the best gaming communities out there. Of course, when you get into the high end play, like raiding, you can encounter more elitism and toxicity, but this is true for any game out there. Some people just take themselves too seriously. As for guilds, you can get into a guild where you're left to fend for yourself or you can get into a guild that's very helpful and friendly. But, again, this is true for any game. It's just a matter of trying them out and finding the ones that fit your playstyle. The bonus here is that you are allowed to join multiple guilds. You can be in guild A for your more casual gameplay, guild B just for farming the nodes in their guildhall and guild C for when you want to run instances. I do agree that there's no real hand holding in the game. Tutorials are pretty minimal and, as a new player, you'll need to figure a lot of stuff out on your own. I wouldn't consider this a game breaker, but a little more guidance would be nice. And, yes, combat in large groups can get cluttered and chaotic. But you get used to it. Again, not a game breaker for me. I'm sorry the game didn't work out for you. I'd say give it a little time, maybe it will grow on you but you seem to already have your mind made up. That's okay. There's bound to be a game out there that fits you needs and play style. For me, on the other hand, I agree with the author if the video. I think it's one of the best MMO's out there.

Pretty sure you just happen to bump in the bad moment, because some groups are only there for dailies, plan to go to other spots to lvling/change map. Don't let one bad moment judge the hold experience on gw2 are negative. I understand your frustrations, just try to adapt and improvise, it works better then tunnel vision or expect everything goes in your way

I like the way WoW looks. I like the way Black Desert looks even more overall. All 3 of them have visual aspects that I particularly like and dislike. All three of them have a unique and distinctive look. BD admittedly less so. Physics on armor... yeah that's a good point. Love my WoW transmogs though.
