13:31-15:02 such huge character development for Ram, I honestly wouldn't have expect so much growth from her in the Xrd story. Her willingness to not only save the child, but deciding not to fight and protect the child, but to instead distract him so the child can escape safely. True heroism, the only thing that hurt me was how it was going to affect Sin. Even Ky was greatly affected by her (seeming) sacrifice, just that he wasn't given the opportunity to grieve.

This Xrd story was the main reason I fell in love with Guilty Gear franchise as a whole, and I grew up playing/trying all guilty gear games, I didn’t have a favorite character, or a character that I like design-wise even, until Xrd game with the new generation of characters, I ended up falling in love with almost all the new characters that got introduced in this sequel. Oh, and I finally got a main too, Elphelt. :3 I really hope she is among Season 2 characters of #GGST 😭

It was probably done for the sake of character development. Actually sacrificing yourself is more powerful than just showing the will to do so. Of course, it leaves this plothole, but I'd say the story gets more interesting this way.

The issue is not with the story itself, it's all about the over complication. Maybe the japanese wants something more crazy and nonsensical to fill up the gaps. I kinda disagree with this mindset, to go for A to B in a story, you don't need to bloat the way with nonsensical arguments to make it more "interesting". Persona 5 and Nier Automata are two recent examples of good japanese stories who use the nonsense in positive ways. It's not about me as a individual, it is a fact the japanese came up with crazy arguments that we are not accustomed to see here in the west. But this is not always a positive, neither something "creative". The reason why hack japanese writers like Kojima and Nomura achieved some level of success here in the west is precisely because of this madness, weak minded videogame players assumes that over complication and nonsense = good writing, that's ridiculous

It is a fact that Kojima and Nomura are bad writers. Their plots are infested with retcons, ex-machinas, coincidences, etc.. Writing is not something subjective to taste, humans are writing stories for 4 thousands years, that's more than enough time to develop theses, methodologies, structures, etc... a retcon, for example, it is objectively a negative aspect of a plot. But because these plots are crazy and over complicated, some people get fooled by these gimmicks. Does Guilty Gear really need time-travel shenanigans to work? That's my point, the japanese have this fetish with convolution and complications that usually leads to defective writting. Even a dumb fighting game follows that approach, I am not even surprised anymore, lol It is a literal fetish
