Greetings from the Highlands of Scotland! I have a 592XP and so far after 6 months, no problems. Stihl MS500i broke after just over 2 yrs (so out of warranty!) and Stihl repaired it for free after I made a fuss - the magic electronics inside had failed and that caused other problems. They are both great saws and both are magically easy to start (2nd or 3rd pull) - unlike my old MS029-Super that is about 30 years old - pull slowly 20 times on full coke, then half choke and pull sharply. You get tired of that nonsense pretty damn quickly - but 30 trouble-free years of service!

@@napaindian62 A logging company near me runs eight 500i's and the owner there was also surprised. They've had those since they first came onto the market and have done all the usual bad things to them including running one without 2-stroke - and of course, just using E10 as there is nothing else here available. I have just ordered some Ethanol Shield after someone showed me how that stuff just instantly combines with water and turns it into a compound that can pass through the engine safely. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it!

I used to sell saws and your opinion is how I remember it. Husky saw typically were bought by pros that wanted a hot saw that cut fast. Stihl saws were more for weekend warriors and farmers. They start and run when you need them. Things have changed a lot since I sold them but at the time Husky saws were typically running around 1k more rpm than Stihl.

I think you are just over tightening your stuff and not sure I would blame Husqvarna for your aftermarket cover breaking tensioners. I also own a Stihl 500i ,Makita 7900 and a few Echo saws. The first time I tried to tighten my chain I broke one of the aluminum pins machined it to keep the tensioner in place I don’t want to crap talk it but it’s a terrible design I drilled through holes where the aluminum pins were and replaced them with steel role pins. So far they’ve been holding up.

I’m in Australia. I have 2 x 592XP saws, the first one literally nothing but trouble! After half dozen tanks the centre of the muffler fell apart. New muffler, the welds cracked around the bolt tubes. The top cover rubs like crazy on the cooling fins of the motor. Outside felling dogs snapped. Then I’ve had trouble with it running, which may have been a carby issue (only just got it back). The 2nd saw no issues and even sounds different. But the last couple years, my biggest issue with Husqvarna is the lack of parts availability. I have waited couple months during our winter for parts. If you sell a Pro saw, you would assume, the customer requires the saw to be running and can replace parts asap. A pro saw is useless when it can’t run for months and the customer is losing out on work!!

I’ve owned Husqvarna saws for 20 years now and my last gen saw was a beast and lasted. The new one would not idle or stay cranked no matter the adjustments until I gave up and tried the premixed gas in the metal can and it cranks and runs every time. I don’t know crap about tuning as Im just a homeowner but that sure seems funny. I joke around that they add something to the premix that works so you have to buy that expensive stuff.

@@tetedur377 yeah I only use non ethanol with my Husqvarna push mower which has been the best mower I’ve ever owned, Stihl trimmer and blower and they all crank easily and stay running. It’s just the newer Husky saw that does this. I mix my 2 cycle oil and gas properly so it’s just frustrating. Thankfully I don’t have to use it often so the can fuel lasts.

The inly issue he mentioned that could have anything to do with the port work is it not wanting to idle. How does the oiler not working or the pull start breaking have anything to do with port work?
@henryblasi3353
@henryblasi3353 3 ай бұрын
The faulty oil hose, the starter assembly breaking, the bolts stripping, and the tensioner breaking are all issues that have absolutely nothing to do with porting a saw. Professionals get saws ported all the time, for decades, and these aren't issues that come from that. The only thing that would be caused by his tinkering is the idling issue, which wouldn't be an issue if the saw was tuneable.

Just stumbled on this , neither a subscriber or fan. So I expect this won't be "appreciated". I have worked on the Husqvarna's a while and have a "dirty", because it's used; 585. That's a lower power version of 592 but on the same basic bones. 592's in this area have done quite well. My first take away? There is a reason Husqvarna won't warranty a saw that has been disassembled, ground on and reassembled. Things get over torqued, under torqued and generally jostled. Also unless a typical field tune is done, Autotune won't sort itself to the new parameters of a ported saw unless there is specific run time events. Which is the second thing. Sounds like you didn't know that and certain "mods" could cause a fair amount of idle and run issues....assuming things were reassembled properly with no leaks, Must do a field reset after tweaking those saws. Every time. AND if things were "effed" up , then its a moving target. Husqvarna gets the blame, but they had nothing to do with it. In fact Autotune is a blessing and a curse as its a real simplistic system that will attempt to tune around issues. My suggestion? Sort it out , or have someone who knows them to, as they are awesome generally reliable machines. All the hype on big name builders doesn't mean they do understand them, its like an online religion. After sorting out some from a variety of sources; I'm not particularly impressed when big names are tossed out, especially hacking on the Autotunes. In fact every time someone digs into a saw , there are now anomalies introduced that were not there from the factory. And just like statistical events happen with "stock" saws at the factory, add a "non" manufacturing spec entity and more are introduced. It's statistics, math. SO either a lemon from the factory? Or from the shop it was torn down , cylinder off, carb and covers, modified and reassembled ... every thing you pointed out from idle to pull start got touched. Especially if the cylinder had machine work done, now all bets are off. Difference? A clear cut saw issue stock, it's covered by warrantee, A builder? Maybe, maybe not but the haggling' pontification & rationalizations begins. BTW the "clutch" side covers chain adjust is the same mechanism as everything from 372 to 390 to 592. Solid stuff for decades, :) So an easy fix. The ONE issue I had on early 585/592 was the primer circuit hose, and Husqvarna replaced them and subsequent saw have the "new" part. THAT could cause idle issues BTW. Last thing, with your access to the community you might get folks to sort it.. IF I was to recommend a place, it would be Donny Walkers shop, if he was willing; should you continue to have issues.

@Trolldaddy5
@Trolldaddy5 3 ай бұрын
They probably plugged the decompression valve. Most saw porters plug them bc they always end up leaking. Plugging it isn't really a issue, but they probably also cut squish to increase compression and that's probably why the starter assembly broke. With that being said, if every other saws starter on the market, including other husqvarna models, can handle it, this should also.

Lots of other ther problems including the same as others, but the saw may have had 3 fells on it when it blew. It's been in and out of the shop forever. Very unpopular question. A stripped screw hole and a broken cover are likely related. Waiting a month for a simple hose repair speaks to the repair facility not getting to work. Thats a few minute job. The hose being broken, when the saw is ported doesnt the clutch have to come off which means likely the oil pump hose will be removed? It really sounds like these problems stem from the work done to the saw. If im off base thats fine, but i dont really feel i am.

I have considered buying a 592xp for a while. I’ve always been a STIHL guy, but ran a 592xp at work (I’m a powerline clearance guy but do a lot of side work). I really enjoyed using the saw and used another big husky I can’t remember. Both were impressive until we had a storm job and both saws broke at the same time and left us with a MS261 and a small trim saw. If I have a need for an extra saw it might not be a bad choice, but for the sake of reliability I’ll stick with STIHL.

I’ve had a 572 for almost two years and it ran great for about a year until the coil went out. Replaced that at the local shop under warranty then it won’t auto tune at different elevations. Took it back to the same shop they fixed that now it won’t idle or hit top rpm’s just sits around lie 3/4 throttle. Additionally I’ve replaced the chain tensioner on it several times it seems whenever I throw a chain it just breaks the tensioner every time. Im gonna take it to a different shop now and see if that was the issue with all the work that’s been done to it. My buddy has a 592 and he is constantly having problems with it not oiling not starting when hot not idling and chain tensioners breaking.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the 5 series gas and oil caps also fit the 3 series. I have those caps in my 372xp and 394xp.

We had two 572’s. One constantly had tuning problems and the other one was stolen. Now we use 500i’s. Still got a 395 though.

I'm thinking that mumma racoon was halfway up the inside of that hollow tree when it went over 😂 Also, I know they're cute, but don't pick up the babies as you put your smell on them, which can lead the parents to abandon them.

My 572 has been my big saw for climbing as long as ive had a big saw. I bought it cause it was more afforsable than the 462 - now ive ran both a lot and to me the 572 cuts a lot better than the 46. Stock tho. Itd be cool to see you get a ported one. To be fair itdoes feel a lot heavier than the 462.

I’ve gotta say there’s very little wrong with stock modern autotune saws. The fact you’ve had someone mess with it sounds like the cause of most of your issues.

7:32 The company is named Stihl not still - You have to pronounce it like the English word 'steel' . The founder Andreas Stihl is German (Swabian) and an h after a vowel makes it a long vowel in the German language.

@@LeeTillbury Not how you like it, you should use the correct pronunciation if you know it. It's bad behavior if you know it better. I don't think you would like if someone would mangle the pronunciation of your name, county, city, state, etc. and always say it wrong where you can hear it....

If you pronounce something incorrectly and someone corrects you, why would you not use the correct pronunciation? Arrogant and rude to continue to mispronounce name incorrectly. As to the “who cares” comment, is isn’t worth commenting on. That person is a lost cause.
