Thank you. Recently I've discovered that the things I've been doing haven't been great for my Guinea Pig. (I have one now, ever since Hershy passed away.) I'd been keeping her in a store-bought cage and giving her only 1-2 baby carrots per day, regular pellets, and hay. Ever since I've watched videos like this, I've realized what I've been doing is wrong. So now I'm going to add more veggies to her food as well as build her a custom c & c cage and (possibly) buy her a new friend. Thank you again.

Almost 3 weeks ago I got my very first guinea pig and since then I’ve been watching your videos and doing research and I had seen and heard that you need two guinea pigs and that was a problem. It wasn’t the whole guinea pig thing it was trying to convince my mom to get another one and eventually I did get one. And since then my first guinea pig has seemed happier which is what I like to see. But my first piggy Hurley had been chasing and mounting the new one which would lead my New Guinea pig Patches to purr and still does it today. Sometimes he just walks around purring for no reason (as I see it) and he’s been sneezing quite a bit and told my mom that we should take them both to the vet to be safe bc what I’ve learned from you is that guinea pigs are really good at hiding their illnesses so I e still been trying to convince my mom to take them to the vet.

Would love to get an updated video for this on your new routine if you have one. Also perhaps an explanation of why you don’t feed pellets? Let me know if I have missed out on this on video. I have personally cut down on the pellets and hand feed as treats. Also limit the selection of veggies. Perhaps also how you determine if it’s good hay or not. Looking forward to hearing these things from you! :)

you can feed guinea pigs pellets but it's supposed to be fed in small amounts as being a main meal for them is very bad you can make little treat packages with a small amount of pellets in the middle otherwise you can mix pellets in with their hay in a 60/40 ratio so 60% hay and 40% pellets. i only found this out today after feeding them more pellets than veggies and hay but have adjusted their diet to be more healthy for them.. in the words of the woman who served me at the pet store today pellets are maccas for piggies

My guinea pig daily routine. 1. Feed them pallet and fill water thing. 2. Since I have a tiny cage for them, and I can't afford expensive huge ones or DIY ones (saving up) I basically let them walk around my room (clean first) I make walls with tables and make shoe box homes. And I add in little pieces of Lettuce 3. I feed them later in the night (pallet) and refill water thing

since i live in a tropical climate, i fed my pigs a lot of watery veggies. they ate a lot of red leaf lettuce, cucumber, and bell peppers.my pigs LOVED carrots. they also loved apples. they had quite the sweet tooth, lol. i tried not to feed sweet treats too often, but they could smell them even out in the kitchen when i would be slicing an apple for myself and would start wheeking and begging, so i had to give them a little piece :p

I feed mine 1/8 of a cup of pebbles in the morning. And evening they get a variety of green peppers, green leaf lettuce, cucumber, carrots, spinach or kale, and celery. And about once or twice a week they get a fruit. Also hay is refilled once a day. Also a question. I used to give my guineas a vitamin C tablet. Are these good for them?? Or are they already getting enough vitamin C as it is? I have 5 guineas and the tablets are a little pricey, so if they need them, I’ll keep buying them, but if they don’t I don’t want to waste money.

Hi. When you say Little One reacts to the acid in Tomatoes - do you mean mouth sores? I have one piggy whose the same and just wondered if its something some are just more prone to?. Thanks :-)

yes, he gets mouth sores. idk, my other guinea pigs never had any problems with it. Little One had it the day after he was born... and at that point he was only drinking milk and eating hay.. so maybe some guinea pigs are more prone to it than others but I'm not sure:) My vet recommend to give him a sunflower seed as soon as I see it again and it has worked wonders. I know many people say that you shouldn't feed seeds but that was the best decision we ever made. Now he gets one sunflower seed when it starts acting up again and it usually already looks better the next day and is gone pretty fast

I give my seven week old Guinea pig a top up of pellets before I go to school and then when I get home (3 pm on some days and 6 pm on some days) it gets its vegetables while on my lap (I'm still kind of taming it so I'm slowly getting it used to laptime and whatnot)and then at around 10 pm before I go to sleep I leave a few more small pieces of veggies ( usually a bit of pepper and some celery) on its home and around the cage to encourage it to explore, then before I say goodnight I top up its pellets💗

thank you :) I'm pretty neutral on the topic. Iceberg is super watery and isn't nutritious ... so if you feed a proper diet with different veggies and your guinea pigs get everything from that diet that they need... I honestly see no harm in giving them a small piece of it (unless, of course, your guinea pigs have a problem with watery vegetables in general).

I’ve always had trouble with what to feed my Guinea pig. I have one for now and plan to get him a friend, in the mean time I spend lots of time with him as I have irregular busy time. His name is Ginko and he usually gets Green Leaf Lettuce or Kale for his leafy veg, sometime parsley, loves bell pepper, carrots (1 baby carrot per feeding not everyday), occasional fruit such as blueberry, raspberry, grape, orange, apple, or strawberry. I don’t think my Guinea pig was ever properly fed veg or fruit daily, I don’t even think he had free hay all the time. Now he goes crazy for any food, has become way more adventurous, and has never once had a problem with accepting food! P.s. Celery is the last veg he’ll touch, won’t accept it until it’s all he has left lol

My cousin has been researching for a guinea pig because she really wants one. I help her with her research by sending her your videos and watching your videos. I just had a question though. Do guinea pigs need salt licks? My cousin did some research and said she found out a guinea pig needs a salt lick and ones that are colored are healthier. Is this true or has she been misinformed?
