Fantastic job. I am sure your friend is super happy to have his guitar fixed and playable again. I was just thinking about my violin I have that needs a major overhaul right before seeing your video. Now I am inspired to make the 45+ clamps I need to reglue the top and backs to the ribs. This violin holds many memories and no repair shop will fix it.

Hi, thank you for your video. I've noticed there is a gap about 0.4 mm on the bottom of the bridge on my classical guitar. I can tell weather is lifting up or maybe was not glued right many years ago when it was repaired. Do I wait until the bridge comes off or should I try to fix it before? Thank you.

Great repair. Client will be over the moon. Personally I've more faith in the everbuild glue than the titebond. Found it and their d4 stuff to be the best glue I've used. Had a couple of disappointing results with titebond so started with the everbuild and never looked back.
@RagnBoneBrown2 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why titebond is favoured for repairs to guitars is that the glue is reversible with heat. I guess if I'd have glued it on backwards like I almost did, that would be a good thing! But yeah the 502 is great 👍

Good tips! I have a cracked bridge on my Sigma by Martin and have been watching a lot of youtubes to figure out how to fix it. This is very helpful! I like the jig clamp you made with the bandsaw. I just bought a clamp thing from Amazon where the clamp is held by a screw going through the string hole on the bridge. Any concerns about that? Or is that a good idea? Gonna subscribe to support your good efforts!

Lovely job. Titebond do a little brown bottle of hide glue which you can use cold. I believe the advantage is that you can break the bond later via percussive shock, hence why you'd use it for e.g. a guitar nut and I guess it means the glue breaks rather than the wood which would be good for a bridge. Don't think it's stronger than standard titebond. It has a pretty long working time but it goes out of date fairly quick so don't buy a lot!

Cheers I'll check it out

@RagnBoneBrown2 жыл бұрын

@damedoug9352 жыл бұрын
I would recommend using the guitar body to sand the glue of the bridge next time as the top of the guitar would have warped and moved over the years It creates a tighter adherence with less air pockets. Important as all the string tension is held on the bridges glue point!
@RagnBoneBrown2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't need to match the body of the guitar perfectly, wood glue is stronger than the wood itself, so as long as it is clamped well enough it will be more than strong enough
