I built spoon man's burnt Stratocaster out here in Vegas in the winter of 2010 while working at Downtown Vintage Guitars. I've looked at this vid 50 times' and Id swear in court that's it. It's nice to see my work getting around. It's a great axe, and I had a lot of fun building it. If i'm not mistaken, that's the guy we sold it to. If I am wrong, it's an honest mistake but I'M 99.999% sure of which I speak. I'm still building amps, too.

The spoon guy definitely stood out from the rest. Probably the most technically proficient of the bunch, and to me, had the the most unique sound. He seemed to have several vastly different styles merged into one track. It wasn't pure blues. This was a blues competition, so I'm sure the judges weren't looking for "unique". I'd be interested to hear more of his stuff.

I feel like people realllly grasp at straws sometimes when they compare people to SRV. Sometimes it's very obvious. Sometimes they do a walking like and all of a sudden they're an SRV clone. People need to stop look for ways to bash people. its all music. We all have our influences. Calm down.

I'm a drummer. I play a little bit of guitar, but I really just do it for comfort at this point. When I listen to a guitar player, I focus on what matters, the sound. Some of these players were just hilarious to watch. You can tell when someone is feeling the music, and when they are just making weird ass faces. Is it not ironic that the players with the most calm attitude were the most solid?
