the Dimehead NAM is the new Tesla of pedals!!!! It’s crazy how they managed to squeeze that much DSP into a pedal! And with less than 0,5 ms of latency… and conv reverb!!! The conv reverb alone would give the pedal a huge interest. NAM is the best tech by far.

You're always investigating the things I'm most interested in Leo. I am waiting patiently for your comparison video of Dave Friedman's IR-D hybrid tube/analog + IR solution VS the Dimehead NAM pedal and the ToneX One. All of these seem like great solutions, but which one sounds and feels most like playing through a real amplifier? It would be great to hear a sound test using the same amp capture in both digital pedals compared to the IR-D, using a capture of the same Dirty Shirley amplifier the IR-D is based on - the IR-D controls set to sound as close as possible to that capture of the same amp. Your opinions are always informative and I trust them.

@@LeoGibsonGtr Friedman's approach seems like it would be the best for getting work done, if you're a music maker. With sound quality coming first and features/options being minimal, there would be less distraction and infinite "testing" profiles to find the right one... an endless source of distraction.

Great news coverage Leo as always! Can't wait to see/hear your reviews of the various gear once you have it in your studio. I'm really interested in the Tone X One pedal and if it could be used in place of a full Mult effects processor as an all-in-one solution. Add a volume pedal and maybe a Wah in front and you could have a full rig with all effects and cabs in that tiny little pedal. I use about 4-5 tones total in what I do, so this could replace my Line 6 processor for less money. The AI revolution is interesting, but I don't think it can or should ever replace human creativity. Keep up the good work! God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍

Thanks for the video! I propose a standard: any digital device with multiple presets must offer at least MIDI in and be capable to execute PC commands. They could even standardize TRS MIDI connection for pedals. Of course, manufacturers don't give a 💩 about my opinion, I'm just venting here. But if every pedal had MIDI, they would be a lot more usable in a pedalboard with a MIDI controller.

Hi Leo. Great video and very informative. I would love the IRX Friedman analogue / digital pedal . I'm more of a high gain guy. I think the approach is pretty cool because it's easy to use. I also like the new Tone X small pedal. I bet they sell millions of them because of the size and the great amp models and tone. I'm a boss guy. I've had many Boss products and I like their approach with their ME series multi effects . I'm old though and like to twist knobs and get to playing guitar instead of using apps and. going down a rabbit hole of adjust parameters. I'd rather be playing, but that's me. Too each their own. 😂 I also think Boss and Rolands tube logic and Aird tech is very very good. I will probably buy the new IR2 and use it along with a FRFR speaker of some type for a monitor and then also use a boost and micro pitch in the loop on a pedal board for live straight to the PA and for recording and practice. This way I can grab the pedal board and FRFR speaker and play anywhere basically. I think also in the future I will buy the Roland Hot Amp. The one with tube logic or whatever they call it. It feels like a tube amp, or the one I tried did. It was as good as a tube amp I tried next to it and was so much lighter to carry into a venue, etc. Boss just gives good value for my money. Thank you Leo for all the great videos and your wonderful music sir. Condolences on your recent parent that passed. I read about it on one of your videos. I'm so sorry sir. God bless you my friend. ❤ Regards from Indiana. USA. Tim..

Yes, the tactile experience is for sure a pro for some of us....and I also like these ME 90 line up or the NUX Trident. I personally use the modeller with my studio monitors when at home...and they sound great...of course when gigging or rehearsal, you would need FRFR speakers or to go directly into the mixer.

hi man ,, but this dimehead nam is, homemade proget zoom interface ! 600 euro for this ???? 🤨 where we go ????..This would have been massive success two years ago. I don't think too many people are gonna pay more than 600 bucks for a capture loader, and that's assuming the latency is really 0.5ms, which I find doubtful.

Why is a NAM Player necessary? Can't a NAM "IR" be generated that could be loaded into any Modeler that can use IRs? I really don't want any more hardware.
@LeoGibsonGtr
@LeoGibsonGtr 3 ай бұрын
Hi, NAM Profiles are pretty heavy in terms of DSP / PC Power needs. Therefore we have software solution for loading NAM, but actual hardware that can run NAM profile is almost zero...that's why we need a dedicate piece of hardware...it has to have a pretty powerful DSP ....
@picksalot1
@picksalot1 3 ай бұрын
@@LeoGibsonGtr So, that sounds like it's not possible to save the result of a NAM generated tone as an IR. It seems like other complex signal chain outputs can be saved as an IR. That implies to me that it should work also for NAM, but as with other types of IRs, the tradeoff is how much dynamic control of the output is available. That's just a guess on my part. 🤷
@LeoGibsonGtr
@LeoGibsonGtr 3 ай бұрын
Hi, to me IRs and profiles are pretty different things. The profiles save the "setting" of a neural network, where an IR is a wave file, that mimic the response of a cabinet. Thanks!
@picksalot1
@picksalot1 3 ай бұрын
@@LeoGibsonGtr As far as I know, the typical IR is a sonic snapshot of the result of Speaker, Cab, Mic type/placement. Then, in a Modeler that allows the IR to be loaded, certain "general" Parameters can be modified based on the Modeler's capabilities, not on IR data. I understand that Effects can also be profiled, and loaded like Cab IRs. It seems to me then that NAM IRs could be created and treated similarly. But, as you indicated, the specific NAM "settings" would not be captured. Personally, I don't think that's really a big problem, as it seems to work well enough with CAB and Effect IRs. Obviously it would be better if all the true settings were captured, but is that really necessary? I'm guessing for all practical purposes "no."
