Love this song. So rad you are able break down 'the Dean' way of playing. Sound 100% better than the way i've previously played it, thank you thank you!! Not my Birthday but when you can we still need "Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart" !! I never saw Scott Weiland in STP, however i was fortunate enough to see him in Velvet Revolver. Man was amazing.

Absolutely a wonderfully haunting song. One of their best. I do find whenever STP songs come up that I should be prepared for crazy chords and just plain weird $#!+. Usually worth the effort though. Good job Ryan.

@@RyanLendt finally got around to sitting down with this tonight. For that outro when playing the C, rather than play the power chord or the weird Dean chord I'm just lifting up on the B string and playing it open. Works just as well and I'm still good to slide up into that D chord ("Don't be Shy" uses that D to awesome effect). Super simple song and super infectious, having a lot of fun playing it. Thanks
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
absolutely :) that'll be the correct note, just not ringy outy, but oh so much more accessible

@@RyanLendt and today playing this on my lunch (as always hurray for work guitar) I can't help but play that awkward C chord in the outro. So yay OCD! This song is really fun to play. Keep coming back to it. Thanks gor reminding me how much I love this tune.

@joeg21324 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan, digging your videos as I'm getting beginner enough to play along some parts. I had a couple questions with your style of teaching if you don't mind answering. I've noticed with STP (Dean Chords) that he tends to death grip the guitar neck and play things like Am(Am9?) as 7-5-5-7-7-5 or G as 3-3-4-5-5-3 and this is the case with many STP songs. My hand simply does not agree to this (yet?) In this song, I use your simpler G and Am as they are much easier on the hand movements and sound great. Is it just music theory that they sound nearly identical? Does his style only come into play for an "authentic STP sound?" Thanks!
@RyanLendt4 жыл бұрын
Gosh Joe, I appreciate your question but I fear it's been far too long since I've made this video for me to comment sufficiently on this topic... but generally, if it sounds good to you, then you should just do that! I'm glad you enjoy the vids my good man - thanks for being here :)

Hey if you guys are struggling with the outro part here's a nother way to play it. Am regular D regular C I play a string 3 and b string 1 and open. That's exactly like a c chord if you do it right. I don't know why but even the power chord way was hard for me.. If you do play like I said, sliding to the next chord is easier because you already have the fingers set for that..
