You know what I love about your videos? The fact that you get right to the point and don’t spend 15 minutes in a video talking about it and breaking every small little thing down. That’s why I always come back for more
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
haha yes, for the very most part, I assume that even in the instance a song is out of reach for someone, they know what a power chord is and their open chords and can start the effort... not to mention that you can just google 'what is a power chord' and have the answer. I could easily make every single video 90 minutes long if they were supposed to cover every assumption, yuck! anyway, I'm clearly in a talkative mood this morning. thanks for being here Chris!
@Kush-uu6rh5 жыл бұрын
Ryan Lendt that’s alright I’m a talkative person 😂😂 I could write more but didn’t want to bother lol. But I agree people can google what power chords are and even open chords that’s why I really enjoy your videos and how you make them. I consider myself an ok guitar player but a crappy teacher and to see how other people teach helps me teach by saying go check out Ryan Lendt lol rather than saying go check out Marty Music and watch a 20 minute video on how to play twinkle twinkle little star lol. Don’t get me wrong I like Marty but you my friend jump right into and teach us what we need to know and if we can understand there is always a rewind button lol
@Kush-uu6rh5 жыл бұрын
Ryan Lendt lord have mercy 😂😂 can you do me a favor please? I been looking for Mudvayne lessons and I saw a very very horrible one and that’s pretty much the only one I can find. So what I’m trying to ask is can you teach me happy by Mudvayne please and thank you? It would be very appreciated
@Timothy_Jacob3 жыл бұрын
This used to bother me when I was a beginner, but now I absolutely love it. With Ryan's videos, I can play the song as soon as the video's over. With others, I'm still confused at them explaining a power chord

There are a lot of different ways to play the solo (like you said, it sounds like two guitars on the recording playing different octaves), but I saw a video from '93 of Jerry playing it live. He starts the first half like you do, but then you can see him shift his hand down. After the second bend on G12, you can see him pull off to G10 and give it vibrato with his pointer finger. Then his hand shifts back and he appears to play G 10, 9, 7, D 10, G 7, then ending on A 10. AIC is one of my favorite bands, so thank you Ryan for all the great lessons for them you have brought us over the years.
@klohr265 жыл бұрын
Yes, been waiting for some of AIC’s heavier stuff. This song has always been so satisfying to listen to. Can’t wait to jump on this one. Thanks Ryan. BTW the new Taylor is going to get a spin on this one also, just because.
@klohr265 жыл бұрын
I can now confirm playing along to the song is also very satisfying! For the solo I move it down to start on the 6th string 5th fret, seems to work well on an acoustic.
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
yes, that would be an octave lower, definitely fair game on the acoustic. I'm glad you and your Elizabeth the Taylor enjoyed that Kevin :)

Ok I'm still learning this song I commented previously but just wanted to say that Jerry recorded 3x over his guitar parts on this record. I read that from Dave Jerden the producer, so that might explain the over dubbing part. It added to that sound he got on his amp/s. Just wanted to share that tidbit. Thanks Ryan! Great vid as usual. I wish I didn't suck that way I could keep up on your videos...haha. it's all good thanks again!!

Great song man. Are you seeing a resurgence in grunge lately? I wonder if it’s cool again... makes me feel old. Tons of youtubers are doing grunge right now
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
Thanks UNC :) You know, things become fashionable in cycles. Some folks are even insisting that there are new grunge bands, which is kinda like talking about women's jeans styles. The nuances that make them 80's jeans may be a valid point, but a rose by any other name and all that. they're still jeans, and grunge is still rock. I assure you, my focus on this corner of music isn't due to fashion, rather my fondness of this group of folks. Plus, I live under a rock so I wouldn't know anyways unless you guys tell me what's "in" these days :)

At this point, will you ALWAYS avoid bending the baby E string? Sometimes I hate bending any string, period, because that's when you can break a string. But bent strings sound cool and what's a Chuck Berry lead without that bent G string? When you bend a string, do you stop when you hear the right tone or is it more of a reflex thing, especially if you're playing fast?
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
well, i guess you bend it in the yellow ledbetter solo, so no not always. and yes, it's an earball thing :) there are infinity ways to bend a string, that's another one of those things that makes every guitar player different from every other guitar player

I don't know what the count is, but I have responded to every single comment... save a handful of borderline abusive but definitely rude ones that just got deleted. It just takes about 15 minutes a day, and I think is an important part of my "job", in addition to the fact that I thoroughly enjoy the interaction :) I thought the point would come when it wouldn't be realistic anymore, but it seems as I have more subscribers, the comment per view stat is going down (though the gross number of comments is still rising) so I think that's a ways off still :) I bet you didn't want all that info :P
