Fun fact, Eddie used to have his pickup selector flipped like that because when he would go to tap with his right hand he would always knock it to the neck pickup so he just flipped it. :)

I have that Kind with the ash body. It sounds amazing. The pickups are awesome for hard n heavy music. Bur most of all i love the playabilty. It is so smooth in your hands. Warm and perfect. So to be honest. It really replaces all the guitars that I own for heavy Tones. Even if they were much more expensive. This one is a beast in value for money. Thanks a lot for the Video.

My buddy picked up this exact 5150 a couple years ago and he loves it so much. I’ve had the chance to play it quite a few times and it’s gotta be one of the nicest axes I’ve played and the price ain’t too bad either. Great video Steve, I’ve been a fan of your content for years! Cheers 🤘🏻🎸

Hey Steve, love what you do, I just wanted to add my very basic knowledge of wood, I believe when quarter sawn wood is called more stable, it is in reference to expansion and contraction as it refers to moisture content, less fret sprout and I am sure more structurally sound in reference to bow, as the grain is tighter closer to the core, especially in force grown forests. But I could be wrong.
@INVERTEDBUKAKI
@INVERTEDBUKAKI Ай бұрын
yes quarter sawn maple is super stable that doesn't move like flat sawn. pre 2016 import charvels with the truss rod, skunk stripe on the back and they just pound the frets right into the neck. Those definitely are the real deal. The new charvels necks have been flat sawn for 9 years now . EVH maple neck is at least a 2 to 3 piece quarter sawn maple combined with a flat sawn fretboard that's glued on.

Never considered "spinning around" the toggle switch. Glad I got that college degree... In the hardwood biz. We do saw quarter-sawn at our mill but we charge a premium for that (not for having to turn the log so much as pulling and sorting after the cut).

I had the Purple version of this guitar. The neck was nice and I really liked the Hockey stick headstock. Pick Ups sounded good and should please most EVH fans. But I eventually got bored with this guitar. The kill switch is fun for a while at first and then you don't care about it that much. The D-Tuna was a pain in the Arse. Hit or miss getting it right. Guitar also went out of tune a lot. This guitar made me realize I'm not a big fan of the Floyd Rose guitars. Especially having to constantly tune them and changing the strings is a real effort. All my guitars are PRS hard tails now and a few have the whammy bar for a little Whammy action. I Would still recommend this guitar to EVH fans who like the Whammy Dive Bombs and Kill Switch stuff. Endless Fun!

@kasnitch Ай бұрын
Maybe the non premium FR's have tuning issues .. have never played any of them . I have 2 ESP Horizons, one with an FR0 the other with a hardtail , and I live in Northern Canada . The one with the Floyd rarely goes out of tune .. the hard tail with locking tuners goes out more often . I use Nanoweb 9-42's and try to play them 5-6 days per week . Changing strings is a pain, even one at a time .

I like th guitar! I always liked Kramers growing up but in my 39 years I moved away from playing 22 fret guitars to 24 frets and for some reason anymore. For me its 24! I went looking for Kramers and the ONLY Kramer I found with a 24 fret neck with Floyd Rose was a Kramer Striker. I paid like $400 US after taxes. The neck was like a baseball bat, so I sanded it down to a comfortable shape since I love wood working and can do stuff like that. I do a lot of modifications as it is on my guitars. I also got rid of the cheap jack it had and drilled it out and put a regular plate on it with a switchcraft. Then put some GHOTO tuning keys on it. Hot dang it looks, plays, and sounds incredible and I only have 2hrs work and an extra $100 in it. I'm actually thinking about getting another one instead of black and maple neck thats purple o r the red one. The pickups in them are some of the best sounding pickups for and HSS style guitar I have ever played on. They do metal and strat sounds phenomenally! But if I were going to get an EVH. That one you have there. I like it! It looks really nice and sounded great the second you plugged it in. You cannot ask for much more if it fells good to play as well.

A D tuner won't work properly with a floating Bridge that's all there is to that
@INVERTEDBUKAKI
@INVERTEDBUKAKI Ай бұрын
True but I use a $5 trem stopper from ebay or Amazon on all my Floyds floating or not and I'll remove it from floating if I want to pull up 👍. I like it even on decked bodies because it gives it a better 0 point because sometimes against the body is sitting too high /too low etc.

They should have made this model with rbw stripe, wb stripe and wb circle….not some crap slime or pink, it’s not a fan boy thing…but homage to Eddie. I did purchase a blk satin, plays nice, but I have a Wolfgang special rbw, early version with the striped headstock and maple fretboard, EVH best guitar.

I can't stand the pickup selector in that position like a LP...gets in the way when you go to tap. And the neck shape should be the Wolfgang profile...offset cut so the bass side is larger and the treble side is smaller. It's a unique, but very comfortable profile. I've heard the FU Pro guitars have extremely comfortable necks. That's a guitar you should check out - The FU Pro guitar from FU-Tone. It comes loaded with the FU Tone upgrades. I have a similar guitar in the Schecter DJ Ashba signature...top mounted Floyd 1500, 22 fret maple/ebony neck, killswitch, but pickup selector is on the lower horn and it has an EMG 81 in the bridge and a Sustainiac in the neck. Killer guitar.
