They're not only incredible musicians, they're also super nice. I've seen them live already two times (actually, they were the last live band I've seen last year before we went into corona lockdown). The first time the venue was basically empty with only 20-30 people in the audience, but they still played like there's no tomorrow. When they finished, we tried to cheer for an encore, not expecting much, but the bass player really came back on stage and asked "I'm really sorry, we already played our whole set of songs, is it OK if we play Gou Ni Moyu again?" - And so they did. And here's Gou Ni Moyu for you to react: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ2Xi2icabaqe7s

Fastest click of my life. Been hoping you would do Sokoninaru for a while. My favorite band right now, I love how unique and fresh their whole sound is. Good observation about how amazing their tones and harmonies are, which are things I think a lot of people overlook given how overwhelming their playing can be on a first listen. While they're A Lot to take in at first, what I really love about them is that as you get used to their explosive style, you start to appreciate just how beautiful their music is. While you're re-listening to this one, I recommend putting on the English subs with the CC button, because the lyrics are amazing too. For other songs of theirs to check out, Gou Ni Moyu, Lament Moment, Complicated System, and Re:Program are all fantastic. You really can't go wrong, all their songs are great. They have individual instrument playthroughs of most of their singles, with walkthroughs of how to play them and what pedal settings they use for some of them. Shiyu's drum playthrough of Gou Ni Moyu is just unreal. The also have tons of covers on their channel (recording from their homes through the lockdown) which are great both for finding other amazing J-Rock bands and for seeing them just having fun, since their own songs are mostly fairly serious.

Right now I'm addicted to bands from Japan because? when I started playing guitar the songs were made with feeling and love and especially with a lot of study in the instruments, and the musicians had to be animals on each instrument, now in this principle of century the songs have become very boring, with 4 chords with an acoustic guitar and are killing the distortion, I like to see and hear people who play much better that I play and I always learn. Listening to Japanese music without realizing what they are saying I get the feeling of joy and happiness.

I love finding reactions to "difficult" bands like Sokoninaru, I'm still researching their music, but the four or five tracks I've been able to listen to I've liked and I'm looking forward to dive deep into them ;) What I have looked for is information about them and it turns out that both Suzuki and Misaki formed the band because of the influence of "Ling Tosite Sigure", another Japanese band I do know and also with the guitar/bass/drums formation, in fact Sokoninaru started doing covers of Ling Tosite Sigure's songs and apparently, the bass player Misaki originally played the guitar, but changed it for the bass because she was impressed by the style of "345", the bass player of Ling Tosite Sigure. In case you feel like listening to the band that inspired Sokoninaru, here's a link to the first video I saw of Ling Tosite Sigure's "Telecastic Fake Show", I think I must have seen it when it came out back in 2008 and it blew me away, but I didn't really look into them until a few months ago. The song itself still seems brutal to me, just like the band and as it usually happens with all the Japanese bands I've been discovering, they are tremendous when it comes to playing their instruments ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqK8dICuncyYibc "Telecastic Fake Show". On the other hand, TK, the guitarist and singer, I think he is also the "brain" of the group, has also his solo career with the curious name of "TK fom Ling Tosite Sigure" and he does wonderful things like this ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/faSvpHWpadSKaZI 『unravel』 (acoustic version in The First Take with piano violin and cello) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKfIkJ9-frWUY6s 『unravel』 (original video with the original electric version) What usually happens to me with everything I've heard from TK as a soloist is the great emotional charge that his interpretations transmit to me, I'm not able to define it in any other way ;) Greetings from Spain ;) (Translated to English automatically)

I think in the old days to write something like this you'd record a bunch of separate longer parts, then cut the tape into pieces and stick it back together. I'm sure the digital cut and paste method would be similar, and more precise. Adding parts, removing parts, until you have a "finished" song and rerecording parts to make it more cohesive. ... Phenomenonal band tho. Insane ability. Your reaction may not have been the analysis you wanted it to be, but watching you just have your mind blown away was 100% worth it. ... I have something unusual. Similar feeling of throwing genres in a blender but perhaps slightly more developing of the ideas. Still challenging to grasp on a first listen, but loads of fun. And really a totally different band. ... The band is 0.1g no gosan and I have no idea what the song is called, but it has a lot of creativity and general Japanese "wtf did I just listen to" in it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/anvOqqKsjr-cns0 This is a little independent band, and off the beaten track, but music is music and finding stuff that is creative and taking risks is worth it regardless of having a thousand people request it or not.

However in Japan there are a lot of similar bands like Ling tosite sigure, THE ORAL CIGARETTES and Hello Sleepwalkers. Our brains are not calibrated for Japanese music. I think that even though there was a lot going on from moment to moment, overall this is a fairly conventional song, which keeps the listener from getting too lost. The time signature is 4/4 and never changes, the measures are in groups of 4 like most pop songs, the tempo doesn't change, and it stayed in one key and used familiar chords. So even though you can't predict what will happen in the next second, you can kind of predict what will happen in 90 seconds. It's chaotic on a small scale, but on a larger scale it's not. Most of the Sokoninaru songs that I've heard are like that.
