that JCM800 was a Zakk Wylde signature head - that thing would sell for several thousand dollars. There was also a Joe Satriani sig Peavey head under that Engl. When you were showing & discussing those Burny Led Pauls, hanging in the background was a sweet cherryburst Yamaha guitar.

this is one of my favorite stores in melbourne, the guys working in there are helpful and they know their stuff. it can be a little busy on the weekends so you might have to wait a little bit to try out a guitar or an amp but its all worth it. ive bought a guitar, a few pedals and even a big multi-effects board from them. you should check out some of the stores around the swop shop, i think they are all vintage guitar shops and while the prices can be pretty high the guitars they sell are some of the nicest I've seen. Keep up the great work mate! PS. you can tour the shop on google maps, its pretty great

Thanks Shane....at 1:51 a Cioks power supply can be seen, I don't know which model. I don't know if you're aware of these things, but they are a top-notch Danish company. I have a Cioks DC-10 powering my pedal board & its a far more versatile unit than the equivalent Voodoo Labs unit.

Your guitar search makes me want to visit the local Cash Converter shops again. There is usually junk gear only but I'll have a go next week. I used to have a VC 50 some 15 years ago. A great amp for blues.

@Vidfavne7 жыл бұрын
I like this series, subscribing. But more Cash Converters please :-) That was my favorite place to hunt for stuff when I lived in Australia - more bargains to be found there than in real music stores. And longer videos and more talking about all interesting stuff please! For example, there was one 80's matsumoku that the camera just passed over... Also, please let me know if you find the silver 1986 Kramer Pacer I lost 15 years ago :-)

Wish we had a shop like that in the states. There's plenty of small pawn shops that have 4 guitars and 3 amps in them, but that's about it. Pretty sure one of the Ibanez SG models would have come home with me.

At 1:30 I see a Barber B-Custom box on the top shelf...if there's a pedal in there, especially if its a Direct Drive Super Sport, do yourself a favor and at least take the pedal for a test drive. Barber makes amazing stuff.

I'd love to hang out in a place like that. The used gear places near me are what I call prawn shops (not pawn). About the white mustang amp. I did see a few in a blue / grey colour a couple years ago right after I got my mustang.

Love these vids, Shane! Do you just have these used gear shops all around you in AU? Or are you traveling a bit to get to them? Maybe I am just not aware yet of what shops are hiding in Orlando, FL, but it really doesn't seem like we have many. And the shops there are here really don't have much selection. :'(

Ahhh...The Swop Shop. I discovered that place 30 years ago. Unlike the other stores featured on this series, it's a "music only" shop that a lot of serious musos buy and sell gear at. They know what's what and you can always find HEAPS of great gear. The Cash Converters have one or two good things amongst the garbage, but Swoppie's is 95% awesome stuff. Shane could have easily made this a two or three part video without having to pad it out.
@stirlingarcher21417 жыл бұрын
If I was selling a guitar on consignment there I'd definitely make sure it always had a good set of strings on and a nice setup to give it a fighting chance of finding a new home with all that competition. And if it was going to be displayed in the font window I'd also take my sponge and squeegee with litre or two of high grade dish washing liquid to wash down the window with (maybe a shovel to scrape the dirt of the glass first, or even just a turbo driven water blaster). I'd take along a vacuum cleaner if it was going on display with a floor stand. So many guitars ....... sigh ........... so little money.
